Nintendo is the main developer, but is getting help from Namco is my guess as to why Nintendo is listed as the developer.

I've had the Monster Cable a/v cables since they came out pretty much.  Haven't had a problem with either set yet.

If there is a GameCrazy in any of your areas may want to check that out.  It is a part of Hollywod Video.  They provide the same services (buy, rent, sell games).

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Will it be called the Nintendo Revolution?
« on: April 13, 2005, 03:02:28 PM »
I like Nintendo Revolution.  Picture this, everytime someone goes to the store to buy one, the could be saying:  "I'd like a Revolution please."  Just bout gives me goosebumps saying that in my head.

The name could definitely work for the next gen coming up, but they would have to pick something else for the generation after that.

I'm sticking to what Reggie told me face to face at GDC...nothing on next gameboy at e3, and revolution stuff such as demo video or tech demos could be shown to "select media" behind closed doors at e3.

Actually, Twin Snakes might have sold much better had Nintendo published it.  At least they would have tried to market it.  Unfortunately, Konami published it and just dumped it on shelves to fend for itself.  No commercials, no nothing.  Considering how well Konami's games could perform on GameCube, I think they are the single worst publisher of this generation in terms of GC support.  At least companies like Rockstar can claim that their series might not sell on GameCube.

Except that there were commercials run for it.  It was Nintendo who did the commercials actually as it was part of their "Who Are You?" campaign.  It even lists Nintendo in the game's credits for marketing last I remember.

What alien planet do you come from??? O_o  Is there some other JPN that the rest of us earthlings don't know about?

I really hope you are not counting your work here at PGC as one of those jobs Jonny.  I work 2 real life jobs (60+ hrs/wk) where I get paid, plus my countless hours working at AMN.  If you can't find ways to keep enjoying your games, its nobody's fault but your own.

Why should I care about 3rd party games when most of the time they half ass the quality or delay the release dates for Cube versions until months later.  And then they say its the Cube's userbase fault for their lack of sales.

I will agree that Nintendo is in a Catch 22.  They are so huge themselves, that if they slow their productioin more 3rd party games might sell.  But if they slow their revenues drop and lose employees.  From their perspective, ya its a no brainer to put your best out there as much as possible to keep their income as high as possible.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Gamecube to VGA mointor?

I don't have a box.  I imported a D terminal VGA cable from JPN back then.  It plugs into the Digital out on the cube, and has a VGA connector on the other end to go straight to monitor.

There were reports of Gamespy making middleware software for Nintendo a couple years ago.  Though nothing was ever finalized as to what it was for.  Initial thoughts were for Cube obviously.  But not its all finally coming to light.

But you do that in the game you are loathing so much in the beginning of this thread Rick.  In Wario Ware Touched! you do diffuse bombs with the stylus, and you do connect wires to form circuits.  But you don't like to "draw lines" in DS games, and that is what has to take place for both of these actions.

Have you played any PSP games yet Rick?  I asking because I don't know.

From what I have played at press gamers days and at GDC, PSP games have graphics and thats bout it.  People are going crazy for Lumines.  I like puzzle games yet this bored me.  Ac!d plays like crap and I can't wait for people from the US (who can't wait for it) start playing it and realize how clunky and slow it is.

As Mario said, the large majority of PSP launch games are either ports or sports.  Sports will be the major selling point for the system.  That is the only genre apart from FPS (which control better on DS with the "mouse-look" type control) which the mass gaming public want more graphics in.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DS release now breaks records in the UK!!!!!
« on: March 16, 2005, 09:49:53 PM »
Ian, you've got some issues if these games don't appeal to you as a Nintendo fan, and "longtime gamer".  I'm 25 now and started back with E.T. and Pac-Man on the Atari 2600 (which I still own and all the games =O).  Nintendo makes fun games.  They make quirky or "off" games.  This is nothing new.  Polarium can get very hard as you progress farther.  Just like Tetris OMG!  Though isn't it strange how the DS's library will almost double in the next 2 months?  If you are a true gamer, you look for fun in games.  No matter how simplistic the input method maybe or how different the game is.

The DS is the fastest selling system in 2/4 regions of the world in history.  Heck, maybe 3/4.  Point being, there is software out there that appeals to millions of people.  While sitting at GDC waiting for Iwata's keynote speech, I was able to get in a full 16 person pictochat room with 15 other people from around the ballroom.  I had no idea who they were, or where they were sitting amongst the hundreds maybe thousands, or what a couple of them were even saying as they wrote in Japanese.  But it was one of the coolest things I've seen.

People just need to try these things.  Thats the reason Nintendo put out dual demo stations where they could.  Get people to try it out and they realise the point.  I'd say so far all divisions of Nintendo (for once) have done an awesome job.

Happy birthday PGC.  Now as one of the elder readers of the site (as far as #years reading goes) I've seen lots of staff come and go.  I've seen the site go through some huge troubles too.  But your still here alive and kicking.  Eventhough most of my time now is dedicated to my work over at Advanced Media Network, I still comeby to check in everyday.  Heres to another 6 years.

Hope to see you guys at E3 again this year.  It was coo last year.

The most recent pics are fakes...easily photoshops.  If you look at the coin logo in the top right corner of the one screen, you will see that the black outline is very fuzzy and blurred.  Whereas in the same pic in the bottom right, the star logo with the pipe has a very sharp crisp black outline.
