Oh Pix, what have you started?
Some folks just want to see the Forums burn.

I also love this game. It seems as if replaying missions will be pointless until you have unlocked all costumes but I guess I can wait.

Lately, I've been alternating between this and Scarface on Wii. Nice contrast!

Frank Honey DLC missions would be amazing.

The Hitler defense is asinine and always the argument of last resort (usually when someone has nothing valid to use)
I just saw this and it is my new favourite thing.

"The Hitler Defense! A Quinn-Martin Production
Tonight's Episode: Brown Shirts For White Knights".

LOL
I like how "The Hitler Defense" is supposedly "a thing". As if citing Hitler in defense of anything would ever work.

Yes, yes, Spyke probably meant that playing the "Hitler card" was a bad way to support an argument. But Spyke specifically said "Hitler Defense" which is probably an incorrect application of Godwin's Law but, more importantly, funny in and of itself. That's what I was getting at.
But thanks for the link. It made for interesting reading.

Man I hope we get like 300-500 friend lists within the next couple of years.
This would be ideal.

Love this blog.
I am most definitely in the game-jumper category, always have been. I am probably most like Leo13 in that I can jump around several different games in a fairly short period. It all depends on my mood of the moment, which is influenced by so many things: am I tired, how much time have I got to play right now, are my kids playing with me, have I recently heard Johnny wax poetic about ACIII, making me want to pick it up again (yes), did the ALTTP2 footage and Zelda Oracles games announcement make me want to go back and finish Link's Awakening (yes), was there recently a massive sale at EB Games wherein I picked up a bunch of mid-tier but crazily cheap Wii and DS titles that I want to try out right away in case I need to return them (yes), did I just peruse my game shelf and have Scarface catch my eye, causing me to sink a few hours into it over the last two days (yes), am I in the mood for something whimsical, serious, shorter, epic, violent, challenging, laid-back, etc., etc. Often the worst problem I have is actually making a choice in the moment. I have so many games from which to choose, sometimes I am overwhelmed by the posssibilities. This is a nice problem to have.

It's a bit like choosing what to have for dinner on a weekend: lots of choices, depends on what you're hungry for.

Jeebus effing Chritos, boy.
pokepal, you asked what was meant by "you try to hard."

This. This is it. Just stop. Seriously.
You're addicted to the meta. You constantly run off to the funhouse to post "whoo-hoo, look at mess I somehow was involved in. Isn't this great, guys?"
No. No it really isn't.
Like UncleBob said, nobody cares. Take the note, child.

Actually, there IS a different between them. Not a huge one, but it's not a simple palette swap.
Dude, the only difference is the palette swap of Tyson/Dream, and a slightly different intro screen (since Tyson is obviously not in the Mr Dream version). That's it. I've been religiously playing/speed running this game for past 25 years. You don't know what you're talking about.

I think there's a place for lighthearted teasing and hazing.  I don't think there's a place for unrestrained insults and attacking ones intelligence.
That's just stupid!

Different generations need different videogame icons to identify with.  Right now for example kids all over Angry Birds and part of that is that that's THEIR game.  It isn't their parents' game, it's for them.  Every generation wants their own icons in all forms of entertainment.

When I was a kid it was all about Mario.  Not Space Invaders or Pac-Man, that was old stuff.  Atari tried to take on the NES with Centipede and Pole Position and us kids all laughed at their dinosaur games (which is funny because those were like five years old at the time).  Nintendo really pulled it off with Pokemon.  A different generation grew up, not as Mario fanatics, but as Pokemon nuts.  That was important because it was a new IP for a new generation that was their own.

I think ideally Nintendo should try to have at least one new IP a generation become a big hit with each generation of gamers.  I think a big part of why the Gamecube got such a weak reaction was that Nintendo pushed it a lot on existing Nintendo franchises to a market that was adopting GTA and Halo and "their" videogame icons.  The Wii bucked the trend by introducing Wii Sports/Fit/Etc. and having a new group of gamers (many of which were casual adult gamers) adopt it as their own.

You don't stay fashionable if you stick to the same stuff and in entertainment everyone is looking for the next big thing.  Remember Nintendo isn't just trying to sell to the same people that ate up Mario and Zelda on the NES.  They constantly want new customers so they have to come across as current.
THis is a really insightful observation. I think you may be on to something here.
The trouble is, folks are mighty fickle. What's going to take off is basically a crap-shoot. I don't think it's worth Nintendo's time to try and engineer the "next big thing". Folks will smell the cynicism a mile off and stay away. So, Nintendo just does what they do and hopefully makes the best games they can.
I agree they should at least attempt to push some new characters/IPs.

The "Star Tropics updated to be Uncharted style" idea has been floating around here and there. That'd be something I'd like to see, from Retro or otherwise.

It may appear kiddy and wimpy to those "a little older" but not to those old enough to recognize the charm.

I am pretty terrible at video games but I just don't find this particular one that punishing. For some reason, I can always get pretty far. The controls are sublime.
Whereas, I am pretty miserable at, say, Castlevania or Ghosts and Goblins.

I give this one a 9.5.
