Reader Reviews / My Personal Review of Rareware N64 titles
« on: March 09, 2010, 03:06:39 PM »
I just bought Jet Force Gemini, Golden Eye 007, Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark. What I thought I would do is to provide a review of my take on the video games and allow any you to chime in about your opinions.

First is Jet Force Gemini. I played this game for about an hour and was not impressed by it at all. This game is might be the low point of Rareware for the N64. The game play was hindered bu haynous targeting and control issues. The graphics are well passed its time and it almost looks like a DS game. Lastly, this game gave off a very Avatar-like vibe when I played it. The enemies were blue creatures and the main character was a soldier battling them on a jungle planet(Cameron may have played this game in the past ;D ). Overall, I would give this game a three out of five.

I have not had a chance to buy Conker or Banjo-Tooie yet, nor have I had chance to play 007, Banjo-kazooie,  or perfect dark. I will respond once I do play them enough to give a solid impression.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Can the Star Fox series be revived?
« on: March 08, 2010, 09:29:36 PM »
I think Treasure has the credibility to make a Star Fox game. I was just playing Star Fox 64 last night and I noticed some things that need improvement. First, a better lock-on ability for your missles. It was incredibly hard to target moving enemies(Star Wolf). If a new game is made, the lock-on should mimic that of an actual fighter plane.

How about an inventory system where you can buy extra missles, blasters, shields, bombs, etc for your ship. How about co-op play. I would love to have all of you as my wing men against Andross. However, some kind of gambit system would be nice for when co-op play is not in use for single player.

As for being on the ground, I do not mind if they do it right. If treasur does the game, they could just have the controls of Sin and Punishment married to Star Fox characters. I would not mind a third person shooter for the series.

Could SEGA port over the Saturn games in disc form?

Nintendo Gaming / Can the Star Fox series be revived?
« on: March 08, 2010, 12:08:30 AM »
I was just playing my copy of Star Fox 64 on my VC service and thought about whether this series needs a reboot. Judging by the last couple of titles(Command), the series may be in limbo. I have heared rumors that Nintendo is considering revivng the series, but they do not know what to do with it.

The game should be brought back on the wii with motion controls. However, with all the first party titles comin this year, Nintendo might have a lot on their plate. Well the game could be released in 2011. Imagine the graphics of SSBB for the game.

There is one game that I think everyone wolud really want on the virtual console. This game is by far the most popular title that I could think for this topic. All other games, including Nintendo's, pail in comparrison. This game is...Super Man 64. ;D  This game is actually considered one of the worst ever made and I hope it never shows its ugly face on the VC service.

Could they make a less complicated version, but still emulate the games. How does emulation work? I just bought a SEGA Saturn for $10 with both controllers and a Daytona racing game.

Is there any possible way to bring SEGA Saturn games to the virtual console. I know that the console is hard to emulate, but it is over fifteen-years-old. Improvements have had to be made since in that time. Perhaps the owners of all those rare titles are lobbying SEGA to keep the console off any service because the vale on those games would drop. Why is the Saturn so hard to emulate? Tell me its story.

Can't you just blow like we did back in the NES era? Ah, memories.
You can, but the moisture from your breath can cause long-term damage in the form of corrosion. You can place a thin tissue over the connector and blow through that, which will prevent the moisture from going through.

Yeah, and carode the connectors. :P: :

I can not figure out why Conker is above $20 while Perfect Dark and Golden Eye are averaging $12 and Banjo-Kazooie is $10. I paid $6 for Jet Force Gemini.
Availability. Conker's Bad Fur Day sold a lot less than the other games that you mentioned.

I always expected Golden Eye to be veery expensive because of its popularity.

That crtridge in that picture might actually be smaller than what is being shown. Perhaps it was super imposed for emphasis?

Nintendo has been heavily invested in it for close to a decade now.

How good of a storage medium is it compared to the other types? Second, why wont Nintendo allow third parties to release content on VC? There are a lot of good games from third parties.

What about Star Wars: Rogue Squadron?

Unless you play the game with an adapter, like I do for N64 VC titles. :cool;

I have found a most of the Rareware games for less than $15, but I could not find Conker for under $20.
All of the Rare games are averaging for about $10-15, but I can not find Conker for less than $20.

echo echo echo echo....

What does that mean?

What could it be? It looks like a Gamecube memory card. The DS in that picture is too bulky to be a new DS. I mean the system is getting smaller with every new iteration and it seems like a step backwards for them. I always expected the cartridges for the new DS system would be about the size of a normal SD card.

Also, could Shadow of the Empire appear on VC? I was looking at the number of N64 games on the VC and was astonsihed to find so few games on the service. Nintendo and third party developers need to start releasing more games.

Supposedly Nintendo has just filed a patent for a new DS cartride. What does it mean? Judging by the size of the cartridge, DS games will probably be able to hold more data.

I just bought Jet Force Gemini and a N64. What I have planned is to buy all the Rare games and play them on my N64. However, my N64 came from my sisters storage shed and for some reason when I am playing the game the power will shut itself off like it is be reset, but the power light is still on. A local game store is sellin an N64 for about $25, is that a reasonable price for one?

Could Nintendo use one of those filters from the DSi camera, you know the one that changes the color of the screen? They could have a button in the settings menu that could swith the screen with a filter that could simulate the screen of the virtual boy. Think of it as built in 3-D glasses for a handheld.

It sold fairly well and Bioware was working a sequel. They said that ideas were being considered and that a sub title was still in the works. That was in October of 2008, however, the first game was in development since about 2006. I speculate that the game will be revealed at E3 2010 or TGS 2010. If not, then the game may not exsist anymore.

I just can not be left hanging in regards to the ending of the first game. No spoilers, but I want to see how it goes down.

As long as the quality of the games are good, it really does not matter how many Mario games are on the wii.
