The question must be asked "what do we do now"?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61822/nintendo-switch-sports-update-rollout-and-online-play-suspended-due-to-crash-errors

Nintendo has had to stop the distribution of a software update for one of their biggest titles of the year, and also stop its online play.

Version 1.2.1 of Nintendo Switch Sports was released on Tuesday night (North America time) and was intended to focus on online behaviour, including an automatic suspension feature. However, the update has caused "crash-to-desktop" errors during the prematch loading screens, and Nintendo has suspended distribution of the update as a result.

Until the source of the crash can be found and an update issued, online play is suspended for Nintendo Switch Sports. The cloud backup of saves is also disabled. There is no current estimated time of resolution, nor word on what will happen with the weekly clothing collections that require online play to obtain.

Fashionably late, as befits a streamer.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61821/new-electric-type-pokemon-bellibolt-revealed-for-scarlet-and-violet

After two days of speculation, the ace Pokemon of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's gym leader Iono has been revealed.

The new Pokemon is Bellifrog, an Electric-type Pokemon with no second type. As promised in the initial guessing game, they have two lumps on the sides of their head that resemble eyes though their face is smaller and facing front. They also expand their body to produce electricity.

Its new ability is "Electromorphosis", which increases the damage from the next Electric move it uses after being attacked, though it can also have the infamous Static ability.

Iono's gym is also confirmed to be located in Levincia City.

I hear she got banned from Poketube for some NSFW Octilleroon 3 streaming.

New information has been revealed (?) about another of the Gym Leaders of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Iono is an Electric-type specialist who doubles as an influencer / streamer when not working in the gym. She has colored Magnemite in her hair, but her introduction video doubled as a guessing game for their ace Pokemon.

The Pokemon is described as expanding and contracting to generate electricity and has two lumps on its head that are mistaken for eyes.

TalkBack / Nintendo Downloads - October 13, 2022
« on: October 10, 2022, 04:00:00 AM »

"Last year was the trailer, now you get to see the movie." And the Super Mario animated movie will be about as good as the 2022 Blue Jays bullpen.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61811/nintendo-downloads-october-13-2022

Things we missed last week: Let's Play Curling did end up coming out in the US (and Europe as well), the Archives title was the original Darius. And Japan got the Game Boy version of Sagaia for... reasons.

Last week was Nier and No Man's Sky, next week is Persona 5 Royal and Mario + Rabbids 2: Electric Boogaloo, so this week is the hold back for two seconds. I suppose the biggest game is Dragon Ball: The Breakers with annoyance levels over 9000, though some will say that the Acquire-developed, NISA-published Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief is also worth it. There's also another Nickelodeon kart game and a children's SPACE game as Star Trek: Prodigy goes to the final frontier.

The download space aside from DBZ has the neat mashup of WarioWare and one of those 50-in-1 Atari controllers they sold at malls back when malls existed in Atari Mania, and a low-poly horror FPS for the season in Bloodwash. In Sound Mind is also on the horror bent, while Paradise Marsh has already been claimed for review due to a Disasterpeace soundtrack. Also, LEGO Bricktales (from Thunderful) is due this week, but we don't have North American pricing yet. You can probably determine it from the other lists.

As for how I managed to avoid Twitter jail this week after that Saturday Skydome ****show, look for that next week in gaming magazines.

If someone can come up with some way for the news desk to get out of work for a couple of months, that'd be much appreciated.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61768/persona-3-portable-and-persona-4-golden-confirmed-for-january-19-switch-release

Atlus has confirmed the launch dates for the other two parts of the modern Persona trilogy spearheaded by 5 Royal's October 21 launch.

The company confirmed in a social media posting this morning that Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden would come to "modern consoles" on January 19: although the announcement only lists Xbox-related consoles, it was confirmed that this would include the Switch launch as well. It was previously announced that the releases of 3P and 4G would be digital only.

With the announcement of Fire Emblem: Engage for January 20, that will result in three major RPGs launching on Switch in a period of less than 24 hours.

The settling of the great debate: Fairy/Psychic, Ghost/Dragon, or Dark/Figh... oh, not that starter triangle?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61765/splatoon-3-announces-pokemon-scarlet-and-violet-inspired-splatfest

The second post-launch Splatfest in Splatoon 3 will be visiting the Paldea region.

A Splatfest has been announced from November 11 - 13 beginning at 7 p.m. EST (4 p.m. PST), and the three sides will be the classic Pokemon starter question of the Grass-type, Fire-type, or Water-type . This is indicated as a Pokemon collaboration as Scarlet and Violet launch the following week, and the choices are represented by Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.

TalkBack / Pilotwings 64 Lands In Switch Online Expansion Pack October 13
« on: October 06, 2022, 05:29:00 PM »

Well, haven't seen this one in a while.

The next N64 game for the Switch Online Expansion Pack is, as promised, the other worldwide launch title for the platform.

Pilotwings 64 will be the next title to enter the Expansion Pack on October 13. The other title that launched with the N64 in all territories, this release will mark the first time it has re-released anywhere since its debut in 1996.

Pilotwings 64 is expected to be joined before the end of 2022 by GoldenEye 007 and two N64 Mario Party titles.

Several hundred times 18... OH MY ARCEUS THAT'S A LOT OF POKEMON.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61760/pokemon-scarlet-and-violet-trailer-expands-features-reveals-new-evolution

The Pokemon Company has released a 14 minute trailer for Scarlet and Violet that expanded on known features and revealed a few new items.

Among a demonstration of the Terastal phenomenon includes a claim that any Pokemon can have a Terastal form of any type, and a battle against a wild Tera Pokemon was also shown alongside a raid battle. The wild Pokemon actually can lose the Terastal form if enough damage is dealt in battle. Later, a new move "Tera Blast" was shown which changes type depending on the Tera form the user is in.

Technical Machines will return, though this time they can be crafted using items dropped after defeating wild Pokemon and "League Points".

A "picnic" function appears to combine the Pokemon grooming seen in the Sun and Moon games with the camping of Sword and Shield, including the ability to play with Pokemon and create food for buffs (sandwiches, rather than curry, are the food of choice in Scarlet and Violet).

After demonstrating a link trade, a new Pokemon was revealed - Firagarif, which evolves from Girafaraig via an unknown method. It retains the Normal/Psychic type of its prior form, though the colors are mostly inverted as befits the name. Nintendo of America's Twitter revealed later that Firagarif's innate abilities are both new ones: Cud Chew (applies the effect of a consumed berry again at the end of the next turn) or Armor Tail (prevents opposing Pokemon from using moves with increased priority such as Quick Attack).

The character customization functions were shown, including the ability to edit eyebrows and the shape of the player character's eyes as well as their hair.

TalkBack / Piofiore: Episodio 1926 (Switch) Review
« on: October 05, 2022, 08:10:46 AM »

Who's up for getting married to the mob - again?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/review/61759/piofiore-episodio-1926-switch-review

Among the parade of love Aksys dropped in 2020 was Piofiore: Fated Memories, which was set in mid-1920s Italy and featured a protagonist who was caught in a four-way war between the church and three different Mafia families. As often happens with popular novels, a follow-up has come out in North America - however, Episodio 1926 takes a different approach by creating a second full set of stories rather than brief vignettes as has been seen in other sequels. It’s a neat concept, which mostly pays off but does have some issues that may drive the reader batty.

There are six stories unlocked from the start of Episodio 1926, all of which are based on the best endings of the original five suitors from Fated Memories and its “golden route”. For the most part, the game does a good job of explaining the characters for those coming in new (or who haven’t played the original in a couple of years). Though I did roll my eyes a bit when someone who was clearly killed in the original was transferred to a better hospital and had their condition upgraded to “alive” to come back. The largest route, “Alternitivia”, involves substories with all of the OG suitors and will likely be where most of the time will be spent; I could get through a main suitor route in three or four hours going for the best ending.

And thus the protagonist learns that tutti i poliziotti sono bastardi.

The advantage of picking up from an existing work is that it allows for avoidance of the “is this… love?” trope. In her 1926 form, the heroine (default name Liliana) is resolute in what she wants, and the loving couple of the route is instead focused on external conflict (the church, local government, the fascist Mussolini government which hit a little close to home in light of recent events in Italy). For a game in the 1920s, it’s a good subversion that the male suitors generally don’t make the first moves in the relationship.

Fundamentally, any game centered around the mob is going to cop an M rating for violence if nothing else. However, several of the bad endings feature scenes of rape of the protagonist as well as suicides both on and off-screen, and one of the best endings (from my former “Best Babyface”, no less) also does feature an on-screen sexual assault that left me a bit uncomfortable.

One of the major features of the sequel is also cause of a major issue with text handling; during the suitor stories, an “Aria” scene will be offered that serves as a flashback; these scenes are presented in grayscale with a heavy focus on white, but the text is also white and doesn’t have any form of colored stroke behind it to make it more legible. This made me have to almost cross my eyes in order to read the full text, especially since the log would routinely place these scenes under “Monologue”. The editors also seemed to have some off moments, as there was more than one instance of entire sentence fragments being swapped around or text being too long for the three-line text box it was intended to be added to.

A lot of the backgrounds will be familiar to those who played Fated Memories, though that’s to be expected when the two story sets are only separated by a year. There’s more of a variety in backgrounds as well, as the 1926 stories fundamentally feature a more international story (portions of the story are set in France, the United States, and Asia as well as more frequent trips to Rome from the smaller Italian city of Burlone). The soundtrack isn’t all that distracting, using a lot of Italian folk tunes that might be familiar from other mafia style stories.

It was interesting to read through Episodio 1926 to see what happened to the characters and how they would deal with the fascist threat that was only growing in Italy. The text issues (especially in necessary scenes for best endings) were a bit annoying, and if you’re not going for 100% completion it’s possible to run the story through as a long weekend read.

TalkBack / NIntendo Downloads - October 6, 2022
« on: October 03, 2022, 04:00:00 AM »

No, you don't have to format your device after reading this list.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61711/nintendo-downloads-october-6-2022

Things we missed last week: The Life is Strange Arcadia Bay Collection, the Skyrim Anniversary content which apparently the mods have issues on Switch (pretends to be shocked) and the release list swelled to a total of 62 games + 1 cloud streaming app which is the second largest release week in the history of the Switch behind the week of January 22. Although it was already on the list at first posting, I also want to give a shoutout to Escape Goat as a lost game from the old Xbox Live Indie Game service.

There was a mental debate as to which Switch port was the big game of the week, but that lasted until about five seconds after Matt's review of NieR: Automata went up since I'll stand up for most of our 10s that don't start with "Metroid". The other potential headliner is No Man's Sky, but I'll defer to the RPG in this instance. Also personally interesting for me in the adventure sphere are another double-header of Science Adventure from Mages and Spike Chunsoft in the form of Chaos;Head Noah (the game too hot for Steam, apparently) and Chaos;Child, which if I wasn't neck-deep in 100 hour RPGs I'd be blasting through.

Smaller titles this week include the slightly-delayed shooter Prodeus, long-ago previewed adventure title Youropa, and Tribute Games (Flinthook) has a smaller title in the cutely named Wizorb. The big foreign release - aside from a pair of Japan exclusive adventures in a new Touch Detective game and a Hakuoki romance novel - is actually in Canada this week, as we get ready for Thanksgiving by trading a pair of games I won't touch with a three metre pole for an exclusive curling game (typical) developed by Imagineer who you might know as the devs of Fitness Boxing (...eh?).

TalkBack / Pokemon Unveils Divergent Species Wiglett For Scarlet And Violet
« on: September 29, 2022, 05:15:00 AM »

First shown on Wiglett Wednesday, but now it's official.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61685/pokemon-unveils-divergent-species-wiglett-for-scarlet-and-violet

The newest Pokemon for Scarlet and Violet might have been confused as a regional variant, but is apparently an entirely new species.

The Pokemon Company have released a video showing off Wiglett, a new Water-type Pokemon. The bilateral (think worm) Pokemon is only known to possess Water Pulse as a move.

It is intended to be similar to Diglett - who appears in its trailer - but is capable of stretching itself in a way that makes it orders of magnitude longer than its buried counterpart.

TalkBack / Skyrim Anniversary Edition Shadow-Dropped Onto Switch eShop

See that mountain? You can play even more Skyrim on it.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61684/skyrim-anniversary-edition-shadow-dropped-onto-switch-eshop

If you need a second way to get your Skyrim fix on Switch, the option is now available.

The "Anniversary" edition of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim which includes additional content from the Bethesda Creator's Club (and a fishing minigame) has dropped on Switch following a European rating earlier this month. It originally released in 2021 on PlayStation and Xbox consoles as a celebration of the game's 10th anniversary, so it could be seen as celebrating the 5th anniversary of the game's Switch launch.

Existing Skyrim owners can upgrade to the Anniversary edition for US$19.99 or equivalent, while new purchasers can buy the game+DLC together for US$69.99.

TalkBack / Amnesia: Later x Crowd (Switch) Review Mini
« on: September 26, 2022, 04:46:00 AM »

I can punch that caging jackass in the face. 10/10, would punch again.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/reviewmini/61682/amnesia-later-x-crowd-switch-review-mini

As would befit a game as big as it became for Idea Factory following its initial release, Amnesia: Memories attracted more than its share of follow-up content. Two of the most famous “fan discs” for Amnesia, “Later” and “Crowd,” have been combined into one cart for Switch release, and though the content does feel a bit out of balance between the two games, it’s a solid package if you enjoyed the original stories.

The “Later” game is a collection of vignettes that are unlocked following a common route that gives the main character amnesia (again…) and sets them out on a non-specific route that features interactions with the suitors, their female friends, and the manager at their job. After going to the end of the common route with a character, it unlocks a brief route with the female friends, four routes with the manager (one per the original four route characterizations) and extended post-story scenes with the suitors. And much to my joy, the Diamond Route post-story does feature them getting exactly what they deserved for the end of that storyline. The suitor routes, although they do feature dialogue choices, don’t seem to have specific bad endings (just a “friend” and “romance” ending each) - though there is a special post-story route with the spirit that unlocks once all of the other characters are handled. It was a nice and breezy read, even if it was a little light on actual gameplay.

“Crowd” features a couple of different game modes and certainly has more interaction. There are a group of minigames that include falling block puzzles, a cross between “Simon” and memory, and even some quick math. (All of which is themed around the protagonist’s job.) The “Suspense” mode offers a route with each suitor that plays out as a combination of novel and point and click adventure in the style of a Zero Escape game, though on a much smaller scale. The “Love” scenes are a brief sequence that can lead to exclusive scenes, and everything feeds into points that can be used to unlock even more scenes.

It’s hard to fully rate these fan discs or compilations of post-game content because they’re so dependent on how well the base game clicked with you, or if you weren’t satisfied with the handling of a suitor and want to see them get their comeuppance. Later x Crowd is one of the better fandisc treatments on the Switch, however, with a good mix of modes and two games worth of fanservice. It’s a definite recommendation after clearing the original.

TalkBack / Amnesia: Memories (Switch) Review
« on: September 26, 2022, 04:46:00 AM »

I kind of wish I could forget one of the routes.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/review/61681/amnesia-memories-switch-review

Idea Factory’s Otomate brand has a couple of cash cow franchises: the Hakuoki series based in the Meiji Restoration, and the Amnesia series that is set in the modern day. As loath as I am to put up with amnesia as a story trope (especially in Japanese media), I figured that since I first started playing romance games with Hakuoki, it’d be worth seeing how the other one holds up a decade later. It’s still mostly solid today, but it definitely shows its age and there’s one suitor in the game who has the rough combination of being bad at the time and aging like milk.

Amnesia: Memories plays out entirely in August of an unnamed year, in an unnamed Japanese city that is big enough to have two universities in it. The unnamed protagonist - there’s no default option as with most of the other releases - wakes up on August 1 with a spirit named Orion having forcibly replaced their memories for seemingly no reason. The initial conversation with Orion is where the route choice happens, with four possible suitors at the start represented by traditional card suits (though the club route is called the “clover” route instead) and the fifth “Joker” world unlocks after the first four suitors reach their good ends.

Warner Bros. Discovery has issued an edict removing the Joker route from all promotional material and commercials for Amnesia: Memories going forward.

The suitors are traditional archetypes but with mild twists; there’s the childhood best friend who can’t confess their love, the older brother figure who might be too protective, the womanizer who can literally induce love at first sight and has a gaggle of fangirls, and the hyper-intelligent older student who doesn’t understand love. The Joker has the most fantastical story and depending on the route might come across as a stalker, though their route definitely wasn’t the creepiest. (That honor falls to the Diamond route, in which the good end involves admitting love to someone who has literally drugged the protagonist AND locked her in a cage for more than a week in a sick form of protection. That was a route that I desperately hoped ended with a kick in the groin, but it never came.) There is a small cast of supporting characters along for the ride, including the protagonist’s manager at their job who manages to have a completely different characterization depending on the route, which was a nice touch. Aside from the Diamond route good ending, some of the bad ends have imagery that is as disturbing as the T rating in North America will allow. There’s no sexual content beyond kissing, though the protagonist and at least two suitors depending on the route work in a cafe that employs “maids” and “butlers.” At least they’re equal opportunity?

The Switch version isn’t the first time Amnesia has been localized (there  was an August 2015 release on the Vita), so there’s been plenty of time to fix up the text. There was one incident where I had to go into the log to see the end of a sentence because it used a three line text box when it should have been a four line, but that and a few repeated words were the only things that made me pull out the metaphorical red pen for editing.

The environments in Amnesia are largely urban, but there’s a good variety of backgrounds and environments apart from the mandatory locations (protagonist’s house, the cafe) and the characters are well designed. The Japanese voice acting is good, though I suspect using the voices of the dubbed version of the anime was both beyond the budget and would have required recasting since it wasn’t in the Vita version either (one of the suitors was played by the late Christopher Ayres in the dub). The music wasn’t all that noticeable or memorable, and it usually ended up with an episode of Connectivity in the background.

I can see why Amnesia: Memories ended up as a breakout hit for the developer, even if I had to bite my tongue for most of an evening working my way through a route. It contained a lot more of the little quality of life items I took for granted in their later works, and if you’re curious about romance games, this is a fine starting point.

TalkBack / Nintendo Downloads - September 29, 2022
« on: September 26, 2022, 04:00:00 AM »

This nearly ended up late because I haven't been wrecked this hard by Fiona since high school.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61679/nintendo-downloads-september-29-2022

Things we missed last week: In addition to Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival, we got shadowdrops on Midnight Fight Express, Serial Cleaners, Wylde Flowers, and Archives title The Return of Ishtar (the sequel to The Tower of Druaga).

Fiona kept me from playing a lot this weekend - and before you ask, I'm fine now, go give to Puerto Rico since they got it worse and STILL haven't fully recovered from Maria a few years back - but it's another hype week for me with the debut of The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero. I'm especially ready to dive in after reading Jordan's review last week. Also hitting store shelves this week are Bamco trying to run up the score on Switch releases before Square Enix with another Sword Art Online (cc Anime World Report) and the annual FIFA roster update that might end up being the last one.

The download space is headed this week by Tunic, which is probably the biggest thing to come out of the game industry in Halifax since Greg Sewart. We also have Partner Showcase star Railgrade (our railroad specialist has been alerted), No More Robots's Let's Build a Zoo, Gamescom's Dorfromantik, and the newest Picross S title (S8) that has actually added local co-op and touch support that will also get patched back into the older games in the series.

One last note: Last year had 48 games going into the last week of September, and ended up on a then-record 60. This year has 44 + the Archives title, but based on recent weeks we might see the schedule in North America push past the current record of 66.

TalkBack / Nintendo Sales Panic: August 2022 US NPD Group Results
« on: September 20, 2022, 06:01:41 AM »

Was Xenoblade 3's halo effect enough to carry the day?

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61618/nintendo-sales-panic-august-2022-us-npd-group-results

A relatively quiet month for the Switch and the release of a series that has skipped Nintendo consoles for a decade led to a slight sales slump for Nintendo in the US, according to the latest NPD Group sales survey.

Data is from July 31 - August 26, based on dollars unless noted otherwise, publishers can contribute digital data but Nintendo does not.

Hardware saw the PlayStation 5 take top honours in both dollars and unit sales, besting the Switch which had held the unit sales crown the previous six months (February -> July). The Switch still leads in unit sales for the year, though no specific unit counts have been provided.

There were no major retail releases for the Switch in the period and only one first party release (the $20 digital only Kirby's Dream Buffet) so catalogue titles dotted the top 20 in the software charts. For first party, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe topped the Switch-eligible releases in 6th, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 held on in 10th following a 4th place finish in the July report, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate placed 16th, Kirby and the Forgotten Land 18th, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus 20th. Third parties checked in with Minecraft (7th), LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (8th), MLB The Show 22 (9th), Digimon Survive (11th), and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (19th). The top two sellers overall were the annual Madden release and the reboot of Saints Row at 1 and 2.

The top 10 Switch sellers in the period:

  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  2. Xenoblade Chronicles 3
  3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  4. Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  5. Pokemon Legends: Arceus
  6. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  7. Nintendo Switch Sports
  8. Digimon Survive (Bandai Namco)
  9. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  10. Minecraft (Microsoft)

The five-week September report will contain first noted US sales for the TMNT Cowabunga Collection (Aug 30), NBA 2k23, and Splatoon 3 (Sept 9) among others.

Memo to Idea Factory International and Aksys: NEVER DO THIS AGAIN.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61570/nintendo-downloads-september-22-2022

Things we missed last week: Festivus (aka a Nintendo Direct) WAS declared, with three shadowdrops (Easy Come, Easy Golf/Various Daylife/Radiant Silvergun) among the number. For reasons still unclear, the last one was yanked from the eShop immediately in North America... hopefully just a ratings board snafu that can be fixed quickly, especially since it's in Europe and Japan still.

We're starting to get into the big retail season, with six games (we don't have pricing for Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival outside Japan yet, but it's also due), and the most prominent of those being The DioField Chronicle from Square Enix - the third of twelve games they will publish on Switch between last week and the end of February. However, I need to express my displeasure toward Aksys Games and Idea Factory who have apparently decided to take me out of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and the Turtles collection with three novels to read releasing 48 hours apart. From the same developer, no less. Thankfully, I will have the two Amnesia games ready to go tomorrow pending any day one patches so I can go right into Piofiore 1926 as soon as the code hits.

A big week for the download space as well, headed by the pending release of Return to Monkey Island. Sadly, if you're reading this, you probably missed the horse armor: thankfully, it has no practical effect. Shovel Knight: Dig finally blows onto the scene, puzzle game Moncage, RPG Jack Move, adventure title Beacon Pines, long-awaited RPG No Place for Bravery... all of which have some of my interest. Finally, it's nice to see that the "sexy puzzle game" genre is finally expanding to manservice - even if it is members of Japan's community of crossplayers.

TalkBack / First Two Suikoden RPGs To Be Remastered On Switch In 2023
« on: September 16, 2022, 03:16:00 AM »

216 Stars of Destiny all up in here.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61567/first-two-suikoden-rpgs-to-be-remastered-on-switch-in-2023

Konami has joined the chorus of companies bringing classic RPGs to the Switch.

Suikoden I and II, the first two games in the recently-dormant franchise released in North America in 1996 and 1999 on the PlayStation, will receive remasters on all platforms in 2023 according to a Konami Tokyo Game Show presentation. The trailer is below, which confirms the official subtitle of "Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars".

Suikoden is best known for its "108 Stars of Destiny", the potential party members who battle in turn-based RPG combat. The series was previously represented on Nintendo systems with a 2001 card-based spinoff that was not localized (though a fan translation exists) and 2008/9 DS spinoff Suikoden Tierkreis.

TalkBack / Expansion Pack Genesis Library Adds Three More Titles
« on: September 15, 2022, 05:21:00 PM »

You thought Pilotwings 64 was the only news we'd get for the pack this week. Don't worry, we did too.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61565/expansion-pack-genesis-library-adds-three-more-titles

The Genesis library for the NSO Expansion Pack has picked up three more titles in a just-released update.

  • Alisia Dragoon (1992) is a side-scrolling platformer originally developed by Game Arts, where the lightning-shooting heroine Alisia and her pet companions must fight through eight stages to avenge their father's death and save the world
  • Earthworm Jim (1994) is the original version of the irreverent run-and-gun platformer, with a bit more of a focus on the platforming than the sequel (released into the SNES library in March of this year)
  • Beyond Oasis (1994-95) is an overhead action-adventure title developed by Ancient, the studio helmed by famous Sega composer Yuzo Koshiro (who recently released Gotta Protectors: Cart of Darkness on Switch). The game was re-released on Wii Virtual Console in 2007 and has also appeared in some Sega compilations

Everyone is going to be connected in the Legacy Collection - and they took that literally.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61560/capcom-tgs-showcase-provides-new-updates-on-sunbreak-and-battle-network-collection

Capcom's Tokyo Game Show showcase has given updates on Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection.

Sunbreak's second major title update will come out on September 29 and add three new monsters: the previously announced Flaming Espinas, the Violet Mizutsune, and the Risen Chameleos - the last of whom will not unlock until Master Rank 110 (the previous high for quest unlocks being 100). New Anomaly research quests will also be available for monsters such as Rajang and the Gore Magala, and the "layered armor" appearance system will be expanded to weapons as well with the ability to use any weapon up until this update.

Although the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection was only given a "2023" release window, it did unveil a fully voiced Mega Man that will serve as a navigator in the menus. Online functions - battling and trading chips - are also being implemented into the games. The digital split has also been confirmed: purchasing the Volume 1 on the eShop will give Battle Network 1, 2, and both 3 versions while volume 2 will have the pairs for 4, 5, and 6.

A Resident Evil showcase was announced for next month during the presentation, which may contain release dates for the other cloud Switch releases announced in Tuesday's Nintendo Direct.

TalkBack / PowerWash Simulator Announces Switch Release: Coming Soon
« on: September 15, 2022, 05:12:02 AM »

Taking the one GOOD part of Super Mario Sunshine.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/61558/powerwash-simulator-announces-switch-release-coming-soon

Great games can come from unexpected concepts, and so it is with the newest title from the developers of Velocity2x.

FuturLabs have announced that PowerWash Simulator, which launched in July on PC and Xbox consoles, will come to Switch "soon". As the name implies, it involves cleaning dirt off of houses with a power washer in the town of Muckingham.

Completing jobs unlocks more money which can be used to upgrade the equipment, and eventually it will be possible to spray down an intergalactic rover.
