A number of places have indeed lost their minds after this latest Nintendo Direct. Not unexpected but still somewhat troubling to see. I don't know if it's because Nintendo has been bypassing them and this latest one was to much for them to handle. Or because Nintendo is equally not giving a damn in regard to these outlets in return. They want to be the ones not caring and having Nintendo try to please them I guess. Or they were so set on the narrative of the Wii U failing to deliver that the idea of Nintendo not allowing that to happen and showing they are and will be supporting their system themselves have driven them a little insane. It makes it harder for them to worship over the PS4 and 720 when they're finally announced.

I think it's all of the above but specifically Nintendo's actions fly in the face of the narrative they would so love to have.  A narrative that Nintendo is slow and behind the times and will fail because they aren't doing what Sony and Microsoft are doing. A narrative they've been pushing since the Wii released and in the face of the Wii's success. They want to be proven right finally and thought they saw their chance but the latest Nintendo Direct stopped that.

Pac-Man would be good as a stage. As a fighter I don't know. Do they go with how he or she (if they include Mrs. Pac-man....always enjoyed that game more) is in the games. Or the version that has arms and legs. I don't mind that look but I know that freaks some people out for some reason.

I couldn't help but stare when this trailer finally played. Makes me even more curious as to what Retro Studios is doing. Monolith Soft has start to put down their cards. Time for it's sibling in development to do the same.

I really need to finish Xenoblade. It's been slow going for a while because of work, etc. However I'm so excited about this new game I'm going to make the time to finish now.

Looks good so far. They still have more to do development wise so looking forward to seeing what the final build looks like. As well as what spot pass and Internet features there are. Street pass is of course useless and I fear the game will build around that first and foremost.

The game does slow down when a lot of enemies are on the screen. It bothered me at first but I've been enjoying the game and it hasn't been enough of an issue for me to dislike the game. I haven't died from it so I feel it isn't a big deal. The rest of the game outweighs this one issue.

When are we getting Nintendo TVii? I know it's a day one launch for Japan, but when do we get it? Supposed to be in December right?

I wonder if they really did indeed end up getting it.

I think this could very well be the first game I trade in. I've enjoyed it both in terms of single player and multiplayer. Never been a big fan of Zombies but don't like these maps very much. However I think I'm just tired of the competitive multiplayer. Finally. I think I would rather play cooperative mulitplayer at this point and part of why I'm looking Mass Effect 3. Finished the campaign tonight (think I got the best ending and saw the bonus at the end which was nice) and in the 50s when it comes to the multiplayer. Thinking perhaps I should trade it and put money toward something else that I want before it's to late. Could get pretty close to half the price I paid from Best Buy.

It appears it started downloading in teh background sometime after I first checked.

Same here. Didn't get a prompt. Decided to check the download manager and there it was.

I think I have everyone in the thread up to this point. If I missed anyone I'm sorry. Feel free to send me a request if I did. Looking forward to adding others as they get their systems either soon or later. :)

Nintendo Console Discussion / Re: Wii U Nintendo Network IDs
« on: November 19, 2012, 04:31:21 AM »
It's best to send friend request from searching a person's name in Miiverse I've noticed then simply registering the friend from the friend list. The two options don't seem to work the same. The friend list is acting like the friends list on the 3DS where it gives you a provisional friend until they type in your name as well. The request from within Miiverse should prompt the other person they have a friend request.

If you've just simploy registered a person as a friend from the main OS screen the other person will not get the invite. You'll have to add them from the Miiverse which is now working fine again.

Has it actually been confirmed Criterion is making this?

Made. The Wii U version is done already and was done along side the other versions. So it would be Criterion.

The word on NeoGaf, from a poster that is known for having inside information do to contacts, is that the Wii U version is actually done already. They're just sitting on it with hopes people will actually double dip on it.

Nintendo Console Discussion / Re: Zombi U, I'm warming up to it
« on: October 07, 2012, 06:12:37 AM »
This and Darksiders 2 are looking to be my launch game purchases.

You're supporting third party games at launch? <3

I guess it looks that way. Though I've decided to drop Darksiders 2 and jut go with ZombiU and Black Ops 2 along with Nintendo Land that comes in the bundle. I'm just not in the mood for another 2D Mario game. I passed on New Super Mario Bros 2 and passing on NSMBU as well. How long I play Nintendo Land after my other games arrive is questionable as well as I just want the black system and everything else in the package more.

I love Nintendo's games but not going to buy them just because they're Nintendo's games going forward when they don't interest me that much.  Part of why I'm not disappointed Pikmin 3 isn't at launch. Willing to try it out but no history with it and have no emotional connection with it.

I was honestly interested in Mass Effect 3. I have the first two on the 360 but I don't pay for Xbox Live Gold so continuing with the game there made no sense as the multiplayer is a big part of the 3rd game. I was willing to overlook the price considering it's a launch game, seemingly remasterd, and I was getting a discount from NewEgg. The stunt they pulled has really annoyed me to be hones. EA really is run in a very stupid way. I can understand wanting to have a title they can point to as an excuse to not further support the Wii U but to act like this and sabotage games before the system is even out is crazy.

Third party support was always going to be a gamble. There are some that treat this industry like a business while there are some that do indeed let their personal bias influence their actions in a negative way when it comes to Nintendo. The only thing I can do in response is not be taken advantage of. That means ignoring companies that clearly don't want my money or have any intention of actually earning it. Which is fine for me as it saves me money in the long run.

So going forward I'll just continue my policy of not buying EA games. Which should be easy since they don't want to put them on the Wii U at all or in a full fashion.

Rich at IGN (Nintendo section) has tweeted that there will be a Nintendo Direct tonight. Japan's is at 8pm PST with one from Nintendo of America to follow. It was tweeted around 8:25pm EST.

We're aren't even getting a days notice anymore.  :Q

That's right Mass Effect 3 does have online multiplayer. Co-op right and not competitive?

This is my number one game to get come launch. I have others I'm interested in as well (that I might delay buying until December) but this is the must buy game for me out of them all and I'm normally not a fan of horror games. I did enjoy Resident Evil: Revelations so I have a new appreciation for the genre though. It's really how it's suppose to control and the life system that has really grabbed my interest.

Is anyone here affected by the decision to not support other forms of Audio Out?

Not really. If I was running my system out to a stereo it might annoy me but I'm not. I haven't had an issue with HDMI and my TV. I have considered getting a sound bar in the future but not anytime soon and not sure if this would still affect me.

So what's everyone thinking of picking up with the console. I'm grabbing

Wii U deluxe
New Super Mario bros U
ZombiU
Darksiders II

Getting the following.

Wii U Deluxe Edition
Zombi U
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Assassin's Creed 3

I'm really hoping one or two of these games isn't there on the 18th as this is to much money to be spending at once for me. Up first to be cut is AC3. I got a good deal at NewEgg for all of them ($15 off each) from one of their promos they ran during the summer. So I wouldn't want to cut them as I'll be paying more later but I might have to. Next up is Black Ops 2. I want to play this but I'm willing to wait to be honest, especially once a few patches have been brought out. So in the end I could just get Zombi U with the system.

Looks like all major cable and satellite companies are going to support this.  That makes this even more exciting I think.
Quote
Nintendo TVii will support "all" cable and dish carriers in the US and Canada, Nintendo director of strategic partnership Zach Fountain told Engadget this afternoon. He said that no major carriers are excluded, and the only requirement for signing up is inputting your cable company's account information to the Wii U. DVR and TiVO functionality are plugged in similarly, where users input information via web, and services resultantly pop up on the Wii U. Nintendo TVii launches with the Wii U on November 18 in the US and Canada for free, and remains exclusive to North America for the time being.

Good. I was wondering if having Directv would be a problem.

Bit of interesting news. The black version is listed as "Sku 1" in GameStop's systems. On my receipt and from asking the employee when I pre-ordered I was able to see the sheet that had the system listed. The White is "Sku 2". Not sure if that is GameStops doing or if that is how they're being treated by Nintendo. For the price the black deluxe version is the better buy for $50. http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu/features/whats-in-the-box/ Especially the Deluxe Digital Promotion.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is indeed #1 for Nintendo.

Glad to hear about the Wii mote controls. I was willing to deal with dual analog in the end because there is a lot of new stuff being done with the game. That or I was going to go with the PC version. However now I have no reason to not get the Wii U version and will be keeping my preorder.
