Nintendo Gaming / Animal Crossing 2?

Yes, I think it is just a improved version of Animal Crossing 1. I think the main difference with the US version is that you can now take screenshots using the SD-card adapter. I've also read somewhere that this version of AC is going to be released in Europe sometime next year.  I don't think we are going to see a true AC2 for some time.

Nintendo Gaming / Animal Crossing 2?

Nintendo's Japanese website already has screenshots of Animal Crossing e+. It looks almost identical to Animal Crossing.

EDIT:  Here's a link to the page with the screenshots.

I've figured out how I've done it! First of all, do not try and post above the newspost. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth. There is no newspost.

Hmm, somehow that sounds familiar.

The only problem is, the free-E3 videos are still not working.

I am still having problems connecting to the new server. It seems to be dropping most connection attempts. Is this just because the server is very busy or is there still another problem?

EDIT: How did my post manage to get up here?????? :-S

NWR Feedback / RE: PGC Downtime
« on: June 06, 2003, 01:25:02 PM »
There still seem to be a few issues. :-(  The new server seems to be down most of the time.  When the server is up, it seems to be rejecting most of my connection attempts. Could it be that some maximum clients/connections variable is set too low on the new server?

EDIT: Funnily enough, immediately after I posted this, the problem seems to have gone.

TalkBack / RE: Free Gameplay Movies from E3 2003
« on: June 03, 2003, 01:13:20 AM »
Thanks for the videos! As for the format, it might be better to use DivX. There are still many people who don't have a broadband connection and cannot download these movies due to their size.  The quality of DivX is also generally much higher than that of MPEG-1. Quicktime is bad because videos encoded with it seem to use loads of CPU-time(on my computer at least) and Windows Media is only playable on computers with Windows.

TalkBack / Annual E3 Award Nominees Announced
« on: May 28, 2003, 10:37:45 AM »
The main problem with the list is that most of the games on the list were not playable at E3, which is a requirement for a nomination, but only shown in video form.  Developers have found a loophole in the rules which allows a non-playable game to be nominated.

Not just Nintendo had a bad E3 this year, so did the PS2 and X-Box.  The PC had the best showing this E3.

After last year, I'm surprised the PSP isn't nominated in the best hardware category. ;-)

The only places I know don't ship outside Europe. I do remember reading about an Australian shop selling European imports for a very low price., but I can't seem to recall what it's name was. :-S

Why don't you import Ikaruga from Europe? It should be fully compatible with an Australian GC.

There is no GameCube online service, so a headset is unlikely.

General Gaming / RE: Game of E3 2003

My favourite game is Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes. The screenshots on the Nintendo E3-site look amazing. They are far more polished than what Nintendo was showing of the game at E3.

General Gaming / Metroid:Zero Mission

It looks like it is going to be a great remake. I hope it has some GC connectivity features like Fusion. Maybe we can unlock Super Metroid that way. ;-)

If only Nintendo could have given Super Mario Advance 1-4 a similar treatment.

TalkBack / Full Nintendo E3 Game List!

I was dissapointed in the list until I found out that  Four Swords also has a single player mode. I don't like buying a game and then only being able to play it when my GBA owning friends are around.

I read somewhere that it was actually a prequel to Metroid.  Being the scatterbrain that I am, I cannot seem to remember where I read that.

Nintendo shouldn't have to run a mail-server. Every ISP has their own mailserver that their subscribers can use. It only is a question of the game supporting standards like POP3 and SMTP.

It doesn't say that you need your PC to email the files. I'm hoping that you can send an e-mail from within the game.

TalkBack / NOA Confirms LAN Play for Mario Kart
« on: April 29, 2003, 01:44:02 PM »
I don't know anything about AOL broadband, but my broadband service has something similar.  The required equipment uses standard ethernet, but the method used to connect to the internet is an unusual one for an  ADSL service and is not used by many ISP's over the world. There are a few broadband routers that are not compatible with this service because they lack the correct software to connect with it. I'm assuming that AOL has a similar setup.

If the broadband adapter didn't use standard ethernet nobody would be able to use it to play PSO.

Nintendo has already "embraced" standard technology since the broadband adapter(which you can already buy) is nothing more than an ethernet adapter.

What I was talking about in my post was the software the GC would use to communicate with another GC.

TalkBack / NOA Confirms LAN Play for Mario Kart
« on: April 28, 2003, 06:06:55 AM »
If Mario Kart uses standard TCP over IP, you won't need to do any reverse engineering. There are already dozens of tunneling applications for applications that use TCP/IP. In the end it all depends on how Nintendo makes the two GameCubes communicate and we're probably not going to hear anything about that until at least E3.

It is not yet known what form of LAN support Nintendo will offer. It is quite possible that the game will have a very basic form of IP support which will allow you to play the game over the internet without any tunneling programs.

In Donkey Kong Racing you don't have karts but animals to race with. All the characters hd to use the same animals.  It's not likely that Donkey Kong Racing and Mario Kart were joined together as Donkey Kong Racing is being released on the X-Box as SabreMan Racing.
