Podcast Discussion / Re: Radio Free Nintendo: Episode 137

I have to say, I've never been interested in survival horror. Your discussion on Eternal Darkness makes it sound like it might be worth checking out. Oh, and the editing in this episode was top notch.

Also, wasn't Karl in 120: Hype Man? I've recommended that one to a few of my friends.

I really enjoyed listening to this episode. I only started coming to this site a few months ago, but this makes me wish I discovered NWR/PGC years ago. It's great hearing all about the history of the site.

Well first of all Happy Birthday!
I can't wait to hear from you about the game.

Thanks! So far I've only made it to the first town. I really like it so far, though. I can't wait until I get into the real meat of the game.

Happy 21st birthday to me. Last year I got Brawl on my birthday, this year I get Pikmin.

Happy Birthday! Mine is on the 8th. When Brawl was delayed until the 9th, I remember people being mad, but I was psyched because I could afford it then. Still, two years in a row with great releases on your birthday is pretty sweet.

I just picked this up for my birthday a half hour ago. I've opened it, but have yet to try it. I'm very excited to try it out, though. I just keep hearing great things about it.

He has one of the worst abilities ever, and I already have him. Yet, I still plan on downloading one at some point during the week. I'm such a sucker for exclusive pokemon. I've only missed the Dragonite giveaway from last year.

Thanks, I'll have to look for it.

Oh man I have all of Tenchi Universe on VHS.  $25 apiece.  This was before video games were important.

Yeah, anime prices can be terrible. How many tapes were there for the series? I have them on three discs for DVD.

My wife and I just recently started to go through Tenchi Universe again. It's probably one of our favorite series ever. I'd love to pick up Tenchi in Love, but the funds are tight at the moment.

I really want to show her Gundam Wing, but Blockbuster Online only has 4 of the dvd's, and they're at the end of the series.

Really? There's going to be a FMA 2? That's really cool.

Its ridiculous how many mafia was in the two alliances.Pale was in both.Vudu was in the first.Fleece was in all of them including the one with North Sea late in the game.

Actually, after finding out Pale was mafia, I decided not to form any more alliances. I was too paranoid to seek out TheFleece. Sorry about that.

Had the game continued, I was ready to call out nuclearspeed for all the shady things he was doing late in the game. Turns out I should've done it yesterday. Bummer.

Good game all.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Pokemon Diamond: Your opinion on my party
« on: February 25, 2009, 03:59:47 PM »
hey i also wanted to know if my party in diamond is any good

Kyogre Lv. 100   Groudon Lv. 100  Salamence Lv. 100  Zapdos Lv. 80
Hydro Pump       Fire blast             Fire blast                Thunder shock
Sheer Cold         Fissure                Dragon claw            Thunder
Surf                  Solar Beam          Double-Edge            Charge
Thunder            Eruption             Fly                          Drill peck

Giratina Lv. 70   Regigigas Lv. 70
Shadow force   Confuse ray
Heal block        Stomp
Earth power     Superpower
Slash               Zen Headbutt

Hey macdaddy, here's a few suggestions for your party. I am not an expert or anything, but I battle against people sometimes. I can only give a few at the moment for time issues, but I'll try to pop in for a few more when I get off work.

As Caterkiller said, if you want to win in game, that's probably a good team to have. However, if you want to play against competitive pokemon players, you need to make some adjustments.

First, your party consists of three pokemon that are considered uber in most pokemon circles: Kyogre, Groudon, and Giratina. You would have to focus on either having a team with all ubers (or non-ubers who can stand on their own in the uber world), or get rid of them in favor of other pokemon. Ubers are usually legendary pokemon that have huge stats. Ubers, for example, are Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, HoHo, Deoxy, Latias, Latios, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Darkrai, Dialga, Palkia, Manaphy, and Arceus. Some people also consider Garchomp uber, but I personally don't.

Another thing to think of when forming a team is to make sure most of your team doesn't have a common weakness. For example, your team would have problems against a hail team, or a team that used a lot of ice attacks. I think Zapdos, Salamence, Giratina, and Groudon are all vulnerable to ice attacks. If someone had a powerful enough Weavile, he could tear your team to pieces. I'd say try to have a team that shares at most two type weaknesses all around.

Another quick suggestion would be to get rid of attacks that overlap with each other, or take two turns to use (Except Solarbeam in some cases, and hyper beam for PorygonZ). For example, three of the four attacks your Zapdos knows are electric. If a Jolteon or Electrivire came out, you could only use Drill Peck, or else they would absorb your electric attacks. The only exceptions would be to have two type moves that functioned in different ways. Magnezone can have thunder and thunderwave. Thunder would be used to attack, and thunder wave for status effects.

Also, most tournaments have rules against moves that one hit KO pokemon.

I'm looking to pick this up next month. I skipped DQ IV, so that I wouldn't want to try V when it came out. Has anyone else picked it up yet?

I don't know if this is the appropriate place for it, but what does everyone think of the DSiware that's out?

This is a preview for Art Style Nalaku, which looks a lot like a variation of Intelligent Cube for the Playstation. I never bought it, but I wish I did. I played the heck out of the demo I had for it. This game looks just as addicting.

Based on WHAT?  At least present some sort of reasoning for voting for me.  Too many players have been doing this all game.

I've been keeping track of voting records for the game. You were one of about 8 people or so that only voted once in a three day period. Hence, I thought you voted for TheFleece because he voted for you (I forgot to backtrack and double check the reasoning). Then, you said last time that you voted for him randomly. Sure, it's day two, but why vote for someone randomly?

My theory is most of the mafia have been hiding and voting only when they needed to early in the game. This would make it so that if the bomber had been killed, damages wouldn't be so bad. I'm voting for you because I felt you were the most suspicious. Could I be wrong? Maybe, but with how things are right now, I think I've got a good chance at being right.

Good review, though I would probably give it a 7 rather than a 6. I agree about most of the complaints, but I actually didn't mind getting into battles so much. With the exception of Cream, I was able go get most of the stylus moves down.

I do hope they make a sequel and fix some of the control issues. The special moves should start out simple, but the more they leveled up the more complex they should be. Cream was also overpowered with her healing moves. Even at her first level she could save the team with just one cure.
