Nintendo Gaming / Broadband Adapter.
« on: February 14, 2003, 02:09:54 PM »
There will be more online games for it. Nintendo more than likely wants some games out on it before they start helping and pushing the 3rd parties to do so. We will more than likely see some announcments at E3. But don't expect them to support it like Microsoft is pushing it with their games. Because Nintendo wants to push the GCN/GBA connection for obvious reasons. I have the broadband adapter and expect to be playing some Nintendo made games for it by 2005. (Even if its only one or two.)

Nintendo Gaming / Incoming SEGA GCN announcement!
« on: February 14, 2003, 01:55:51 PM »
Let's hope the big announcment isn't VF: Quest because if it is it either means it will be ported or moved to another console. Since it is confirmed to be coming to the Gamecube at this point in time.

Nintendo Gaming / Rumour: Chrono Trigger 2 & Chrono Break?
« on: February 14, 2003, 01:51:54 PM »
If this is real Chrono Trigger 2 has to be a tentive name because the second in the series like it or not is Chrono Cross. And it will more than likely be a port.

Nintendo Gaming / Sega and Nintendo
« on: February 14, 2003, 08:37:28 AM »
Sega support has been very adaqute. We will be getting probally one of the most anticipated Sega releases this year (for Japan) in Virtua Fighter Quest, its being made to honor the series 10th anaversary. And it SEEMS that the Gamecube will be the target console for the next new Sonic game even though it will more than likey be multiconsole. So be happy with what we get for Nintendo isn't paying Sega to get its games.

Nintendo Gaming / My Theory On Nintendo In The Modern World
« on: February 13, 2003, 06:51:48 PM »
Nintendo has a alway will do things the way they did in the NES make games for their consoles that appeel to the largest market possible. That is why we are see Nintendo invest in some second parties that will make some games for certin target audiences. They did this from day one because it makes them money. And it will make them money in the future.

As for Gaming Nastolgia my first experience with Nitnendo was Donkey Kong on the Atari at my second cousin's house. My first experience with the NES was Legend of Zelda at my first cousin's house. And finally what drove me over the edge was staying over at my best friend house playing nothing but video games on the NES. (Salome, SMB, Duck Hunt, Ballon Fighters ahhh.....)

Nintendo Gaming / Wario World is looking great
« on: February 13, 2003, 06:45:17 PM »
I have aniticpated Wario World since it was announced last year. For some reason I just love the guy. While it is true that its based off of some Mario Components some of them are a twist of them. (Almsot a mixture of a beat-em-up and platformer.) But I can say teasure did a good job so far in producing the game. (Like there was any doubt. )

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube console, profit from day one?
« on: February 13, 2003, 06:22:44 PM »
Even if you Dad sells them that isn't the end all of the story. You seem the have a narrow view of the market. The prices of everything fluxuate daily. In markets such as Computer Technology the manufactures buy their raw product by the lowest bidder. So the cost to them fluxuats but there is always a down trend in techonolgy cost because of new technology, new manufacturing costs, cheeper labor (The reason so much technology is assembled in Asia because the work force works for peanuts.), then they have a fixed medium price that they sell it to the manufactures the mark up on it is enough to cover the manufacturing with a target area profit. The Middle man gets the techonology at bulk prices were they sell it to retailers, etc for another marked up price, that has a downward progression as time goes on. The reason why price stay at a certin is that retailer orginal only make a marginal profit off the newer techonologies so it sells. But as the supply cost goes done they try to keep it at a certin market up to wring all the profit out of it.

But in a free market there will always be someone who undercuts you and if they start taking a good part of your business you have to cut the price or be put out of business. They same principles effect all the levels of supply, so prices go down. And technology has another driving factor that brings it down faster as newer technology comes out the older techonolgy has to get cheeper or it won't sell. But there is so much you mark something down before it not worth making. So as new technology get stacked in generations on top of old techonology it forces the price down, and as soon as something gets to the point it not profitable to make any more its phased out.

There are a ton of other factors that effect price like supply and demand. But I won't go into them. I was majoring in Business in college but only had two year before I was injured and had to drop out. But Rick is correct when he say things drop "daily" if that helps. Retailers don't drop prices with the market because they want to get the most money out of it. But we are NOT talking about retailers here. We are talking slowly about the manufacturing process and that is quite different than what you are talking about.

Sorry about the confusing language, I'm working on 4 hours of sleep. And I have been up for over 15 hours. I start sounding rather funny.

Nintendo Gaming / Anyone else looking forward to Soul Calibur 2?
« on: February 13, 2003, 05:54:48 PM »
I will be buying it. But probally only the Gamecube version. The DC game was great. And SC2 has been in the "local" arcade for awhile.

Nintendo Gaming / Great time for people that still don't have a GameCube
« on: February 13, 2003, 05:51:04 PM »
I achieved my Gamecube in the best possible way. I won a bet with a stupid friend, he lost over $500.00 that night. I got my gamecube on the first day it was released for free. (The only cost was a very bad case of heart burn the next day. Never eat 20 Bufflo Wings with three times the atomic sauce. The only thing that saved my stomache lining was I drank a lot of milk before and after, for free.)

But the deals will only get better. Along the road the Gamecube will drop in price once again. They may not get rid of the free game promotion, if it does well enough they may extend it. And we will hear people who bought their now how they got ripped off. But I guess that is the way of the internet...

Nintendo Gaming / Rumor: Just Sniffing Around
« on: February 07, 2003, 12:53:50 PM »
Nintendo hasn't changed much in the 20 or more years they have been in gaming because they always have had one person in charge of all of the decisions. And the company usally reflects the overall attitude of that man. Yamauchi  has just recently steped. So we are going to see a change in Nintendo's image. But we are not going to see an extreme turn around in a few months. Not to mention the man that has replaced him has less power that Yamauchi did, and now the major decisions are now in a handfull of people. We may see a change starting this E3.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience

I'm aware of that. I haven't said they have to best marketing in the world, I don't think.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience
« on: February 06, 2003, 05:59:53 PM »
They did start to advertise it. They were doing the theater thing. And now they are running an ad in Playboy. And if you are referring to TV I'm sure there will be some advertisment about it in the month preceeding the release. And don't worry about the presale from what I have been hearing is that is preselling faster than Vice City which remains to be seen.

General Gaming / Nokia's new handheld a gba killer
« on: February 06, 2003, 05:24:11 PM »
To have a chance they have to get more developers on board than the ones they have its a good start but it takes more than five developers to support and undertaking such as this. They have Sega, which is no surprise since they announced they were going to make software for something like this as the dreamcast was dying.

A good example is the Wonder Swan they are supported by Capcom, Bandai (believe it or not but they are a big name in Japan), and Square and look how well its incarnations are doing.

The only way this gets a user base is that its a cell phone that has game functions. It won't be a gold mine since gaming isn't the primary objective of cell phone users its a good perk.

General Gaming / So... who's into Orta?
« on: February 06, 2003, 05:10:50 PM »
Accually no.

Spoilers
************************************************

You see at the end of each game the dragon dies after the "eternal" part of itself leaves. Before it dies it always has a baby. And Orta is the daughter of the two main characters in Saga. So the time lines goes as follows.

Panzer Dragoon 2: (This covers the begining of the evil empire so its the first of the series and done as a prequel. Another telling sign is you first find the dragon in a space ship.)
Panzer Dragoon
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Panzer Dragoon Orta
......

And it leaves an opening for a sequel.

End of Spoliers

Hopefully that clears it up for you.

Nintendo Gaming / Final Fantasy 3 on Game Boy Advance?
« on: February 06, 2003, 03:59:53 PM »
Accually it depend on how much time the developer is willing spend on the port. The GBA does have the audio tools out their that can dust anything done on the SNES. MusyX tools are availible for the Gameboy series also, I do believe. And as we have seen with the Gamecube alot of the developers are not willing to put that kind of investment into a port.

Yes I was correct. Here is the link with the specs the software can help the GBA do.

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience
« on: February 06, 2003, 03:53:15 PM »
The problem is by far market image, not commercials and not the games or who the console is for. In business once you get an image its hard to change it. The PS2 can do more generic commercials because their image is set. It was set by the PSX/One that it is a console for "mature/cool" teens.

Nintendo on the other hand has been labled a "kiddy" gaming company by Pokemon and its control of the handheld market which is view as a child's machine. (But the accual market demographic is rather contary to this view it is the most balenced of all game machines.) And Nintendo wants to market it self as a game machine that anyone can use and have fun with. And target market select games. But unfortunatly some view this as a reinforcement that the machine is for kids, because there is no "cool" way to effectivly market a game that has an E rating. And Nintendo wants to for very good reasons market M rated games to the age demographic they are suppose to be for. (Like it or not their is a reason why ratings were invented in the first place.)

Nintendo Gaming / Dengeki Charts
« on: February 06, 2003, 03:29:30 PM »
Not to mention just because it drops off the the top 10 charts doesn't mean it stops selling. They will be selling new copies of the bigger hits for years now, so they will eventually break a few million in each of the markets.

I don't know you would think that their would be a limit on how much they are willing to go into debt for it. But you never know.

General Gaming / So... who's into Orta?
« on: February 06, 2003, 06:07:00 AM »
The storyline is great, the graphics are good. The only problem I found was the ease of the game, even in normal, and the ease of opening up the extras. It took only two day of playing for my brother and sister to open up the pandora's box 100%.

Nintendo Gaming / Too Human Hype Thread!!!!!!!
« on: February 05, 2003, 10:44:54 PM »
Well what has been said of the game so far for the ill-fated PSX version has been promising. I can't wait to hear what they have tweeked in their road to bring it to the Gamecube. The Graphics engine shouldn't be a programing problem since they have the Eternal Darkness engine to use. They'll twease and tweek it so in sence the ED engine would be a sub-set of the Too Human engine. Out side of that I want the basic theme and plot reitterated. (about three months and two weeks.....)

Thay may of been playing with the XDKs because of their port of PSO to Xbox. But I agree their sould be something in the works. But you have to say that Sonic team has been the most active with releases compaired to the other developers.

That accually would be a great game. They did a great job with changing Phantasy Star into a MMORPG, they could just take it a step further.

Working in excess of full time is a pain. Hopefully when I start my business I won't have to work over 45 hours a week ever with all the other partners I have brought in. Two more months. I will maybe have a stable broadband connection when I open so maybe I will try Xbox Live out. It's not compatible with the one I have at home which ticks me off since PSO works perfectly with it.

And Infernal Monkey hopefully you job doesn't involve lots of standing for long periods of time, I would pity you. I have two real bad bruises on my achille's tendon that have been their for over a year and refuse to heal because I have to stand a lot and move on hard floors.
