i agree.  cel-shading all the way.

and mario should be a super hero, not a plumber.  and he should have the ability to slow down and speed up time.  and buy upgrades.  and punch, kick, pull bombs out of his back pocket, and throw boomerangs.  and he should wear a pink cape.

depends on which one you're referring to.  

if it's the one in step two, it's just to the left of the big sign showing a map of the sub.  you need to break the ground over to the left of that, get the remote for the floating platform, go back to the beginning and get the platform, and bring it back to the map.  be sure to lower the platform everytime a torpedo passes, or else it will get destroyed and you'll have to get a new platform from the beginning.  once the platform is in place, use slow to get on it, then use mach to raise it to the next level.

if it's the one in stop four, it's either right before or right after the section where the torpedos come out of the ground (i forget which).  you'll see a section of the floor you can jump down (duck + jump).  go down several levels (collecting the vfx canisters along the way, if you wish), until you get to the bottom.  keep following the tunnel, and eventually you'll fun into some gears you have to stop, and then you know you're headed in the right direction.  follow the tunnel til you get to the end.

it could still work out fairly well.  if my relatives are an example of the norm (which, in itself, might be a stretch) they typically give lots of cash to the "kids" in the family.  (i use quotes because i'm hardly a kid anymore.)  so now you have 15 year old jonny who just got $200 from grandpa joe.  what does he buy?  well he can get an xbox with halo, crimson skies, grabbed by the ghoulies (forgive me, i don't follow xbox too much, so those are the first games that came to mind) but wait, he only has $200.  or he can get a gamecube and then pick up final fantasy and metal gear solid when they come out.  (keep in mind, 15 year old jonny is much too mature for kiddie games like mario kart.)

step one:  post this in the viewtiful joe help thread.
step two:  work your way through the path above the torpedos until you turn the ship upside down.
step three:  work you way back to the torpedos.
step four:  go though the bottom pathway under the torpedos and work your way to the end.
step five:  attack the three light that light up.  if you attack any that don't initially light up, you'll fail and have to try again.  (not from the beginning, just restart step five.)

i was able to get all the canisters on charles the third (aka ep6 guy one, batman, batboy).  (assuming there are only 50 canisters.  if there are more, i have no idea where they are.)  to get the ones on the top of the columns that are out of reach, you need to uppercut a stalactite using slow.  the trick is to make sure you have a full vfx bar at the start and hold down the slow button until your vfx depletes.  if you let go too soon, the rock won't go high enough to get the top one.  hope this helps.

from what i've read you should play the demo and that's about it.  every level is supposed to be the same pretty much.  get the demo, play it for 20 minutes, ignore the full game unless you find it in the bargain bin.

i really like how in every press release for the past 2 months nintendo always mentions mario kart double dash.  whether the announcement has anything to do with game or not, it's always there.

but this is really great news for nintendo.  let's hope some developers/publishers (not really sure who to blame) take notice and reinstate some previously cancelled gamecube games.

are there really only 12 courses, or does this list not include hidden/bonus courses?  12 seems a little small, considering the 64 version had 16.  anyone know if you can race through the courses backwards like you could in the 64 version?

thanks for the info.  unfortunately, i don't play enough pc games to make the 9800 a worthwhile purchase.  i can't see paying $500 for a video card when i only play 3-4 pc games per year (mostly fps, because control tends to suck for those games on consoles).

like (apparently) a lot of people out there, i preordered a ati radeon 9600 xt shortly after gamespy.com ran an article on them.  the news of a good card at a very reasonable price ($200) came at a great time for me since i was halfway through building a new computer.  after preordering the card, i checked ati.com every few days for news of a release date.  last week i noticed that they changed the status of the 9600 xt from 'preorder' to 'sold out'.  excellent, i thought--apparently the card's very popular, and i got mine in plenty of time.  (no doubt the free copy of half-life 2 increased preorders by quite a bit.)

last week, anxious about the card, i e-mailed someone in ati's customer service for a status update.  i was told that the card is on back order and they had no idea when more would be ready.

so what does this mean?  most likely either (a) the card was sold out when i preordered it over 4 weeks ago and ati didn't change its website to reflect the status until last week, or (b) the card wasn't sold out until last week, and ati hates me and decided to ship my card to someone else.

did anyone on this forum preorder the 9600 xt?  anyone get theirs?  if so, when did you preorder?  if it was after october 1, i think it's only fair that you send me your card and i'll send you mine when i get it.  okay?  no?  didn't think so.

so now i have a new p4 2.8ghz pc sitting on my living room floor with no video card in it.

i am officially burninated.  (thanks knowsnothing, for the great word.)
