He should definitely just stick to screenwriting.  I hope to God that he doesn't direct the next Indiana Jones movie.  It would be a shame to see another Phantom Menace disaster.

Maybe it's Game Developer Studios working on the rumored Paper Mario for GC?  Perhaps a reason it has not been officially confirmed.

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Shuns Euro Imports Again
« on: August 03, 2003, 03:59:43 PM »
Nintendo doesn't want Britons to import Advance Wars 2, instead "asking" them to wait the the rest of the year for their version to come out.

When Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire were released in the States on March 17, Nintendo of Europe wasn't all that happy about the relatively high amount of imports finding their way across the Atlantic.  Nintendo issued cease and desist letters to infringing retailers that offered Nintendo's GBA games as imports, and for the most part, the situation was resolved.

However, with Advance Wars 2 just recently released in North America, Nintendo is once again worried about a high amount of imports, that it claims will hurt the official launch of the game, and the sales of retailers who sell the game legitimately.  The UK arm of the company is again "asking" retailers that offer imports to knock it off, or suffer the concequences.

Advance Wars 2 is set for release in Europe in the late fall, where as the US version was released on June 24.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Zelda Series Time Line Explanation
« on: August 03, 2003, 02:24:09 PM »
What I meant was that it was explained in the opening that WW came right after OoT(1000 years later).

And to further prove the two Links from LttP and LoZ are different.  The LttP Link was born in Hyrule while the Link in LoZ was born in a country outside Hyrule.(Can't remember where exactly...I have to go look it up).

Taken from the LoZ manual:

"All was not lost. A young lad appeared. He skillfully drove off Gannon's henchmen, and saved Impa from a fate worse than death.  His name was Link. During his travels he had come across Impa and Gannon's henchmen. Impa told Link the whole story of the princess Zelda and the evil Gannon."

Why would Link need to be told of Zelda if he had known her from LttP?  It is clearly obvious that the two are seperate, perhaps by another 1000 years.

« on: August 03, 2003, 02:03:07 PM »
The problem with your timeline is this: spoilers...

1) Ganondorf tells Link in WW that he is the reincarnation of the Hero of Time.  Not to mention that in the opening it shows that WW comes after OoT.
2) The Link in LoZ is different than the one in LttP.  In both games Link meets Zelda for the first time.

LucasArts has been around a lot longer than a lot of people think.  Ever since the creation of videogames, LucasArts has been around almost as long to bring us our Star Wars entertainment

(Just wanted to throw in something: Who could forget LucasArts' Maniac Mansion?)

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Why All The "Perfect 10's" These Days
« on: August 02, 2003, 01:33:16 PM »
Reviews are basically opinions.  If someone gives a game a "10," then they believe that game ranks high on their own scale of greatness.  Just because someone gives a game a 10 doesn't mean the game is perfect by any means.  The game could be completely horrible in another person's eyes.  For example, you see many people spouting that Halo is the best thing since sliced bread.  I, on the other hand, think that it's an incredibly generic FPS.  So never get a game just because it gets a good review.  Rent it and give it your own inspection.

There's a whole bunch here.  Of course, most of the fun in the Mapmaker mode is creating your own masterpieces.

Actually you can help the guy.  Just play that letter-throwing game again(and get at least 25 letters sent) and he will be hired.  For your troubles you get a heart piece.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:WW of OoT style graphics??
« on: August 01, 2003, 01:22:44 PM »
I know comparing the two was slightly biased, but I am also just paraphrasing what Miyamoto himself has admitted.  He complained that the problem with OoT was that Link's movements were way too stiff to look realistic.  Again I'll say that once animation in realistic graphics has been perfected Ninty may give a realistic version of Zelda the go-ahead.
