Yo Infernal: Are you talkin about Burnout 2 for Gamecube or PS2?

Off topic, so:
The graphics in GTA3 suck hard. Blurry as hell, and that 'soft' lighting makes it even blurrier. But I guess that can be excused for the absolutely massive city you have to travel in and around. But the graphics suck.

Just that teaser page is starting to make me drool.
And that logo looks pretty tasty.

But what's this about the URL?
I think it's just a link to the server of where the pics are stored. Why the hell would someone fake this and make links to Nintendo of America and Namco's sites?
Don't worry.
I think everything's gonna be just fine.

OK, I have just come back from a very lengthy session with Vice City - my cousins from Canada are here and they brought their PS2 with them. One's 11 and the other is 6 (!).
Vice City is pretty good. I must say. The Taxi Missions are pretty good, and I think are good to the likes of Crazy Taxi (although they're not as Crazy). The Police missions, Ambulance, and so on are OK. There is one thing that just doesn't make sense to me, and that's the mini-game involving the mini-cars. What The?

Another thing I have to my post from above, the way the cars are just sux. The handling is pretty representetive of how they might handle in real life, but that's a bit hard to determine, since most of the time it feels like you're driving ON THE MOON. Once you're side on a hill, your car goes flipside. I think that all cars from ANY game involving cars should use Acclaim's Burnout 2 crash physics. They are the coolest and jaw-dropping scenes to watch in any game. It makes GT3, Project Gotham and Sega GT 2002 slow like a cow on sleeping drugs by comparison.

Damn you yanks.
We don't even have any hint that it's even coming to Australia.
But we do have to wait until May, so hopefully something turns up before then.
We're not even getting the bloody pre-order deal (yet)!

But this is Microsoft, so you don't expect enything other than shelf PC parts.
Why would MS go to all the trouble of redesigning the XBox when it's losing so much money already? What are they going to do? Take away the DVD player and the Hard Drive and make Memeroy Cards a necessity? I don't think so. If the redesign in XBox is going to be anything, it's going to be a lot uglier. MS should just concentrate on making the Xbox Next.
Hang on a sec....if this gets MS to NOT really focus on Xbox Next, they could be releasing their new console after the GC2 and PS3. And be the ones missing out on all the rush.

Microsoft sucks. Period.

The renders that IGN showed were drool-inducing. They reminded me sooo much of Retro's art for Raven Blade, and that game looked awesome.
If this game plays as good as it looks so far then I might consider buying it.

The animation was a bit rough cause it was an anime. And as far as I know, the animation in mangas aren't like smooth like the Disney and Dreamworks ones, since they use the aid of computers.
I got the small version cause I have dial-up too. And Download Accelerator helped immensely. I can't view the medium or lage ones cause their just too big for my computer to handle in terms of screen size, and downloading it would be a pain in the ass.
GEt the small version, then just play it double-screen of full-screen.

If you want good animations for animatrix, just watch the preview "Final Flight of Osiris" on IGN.

To me it wasn't funny.
It was the coolest thing in the world.
So what if Miyamoto-san was the 'leader of some secret cult'?
I would join instantly. Although it it involved 'sreading the word' Christian-style, then no, I won't.
If this was on front of second page full-page story in the newspaper, then I think many people would actually be interested in the genuine charm of his games, and understand why so many people love him and his games.

XBox Lite?
Hah. For all we know, it's gonna have a handle on it.
Seriously, I know that you can get components small like the microchip, but can you really shrink the sixe of the hard drive and DVD drive? If the Gamecube had all that, it would still be small, but it would be about 30cm high.
PS2 anyone?

Nintendo Gaming / GTA: Would it sell?
« on: March 04, 2003, 12:36:56 AM »
GTA3 was pretty revolutionary. I think it was good how the game gave you so much freedom. You could do the missions whenever you wanted. The game ran at you pace.
But too much freedom got a little boring. I mean, sure, you can do the taxi mssions, the vigilante missions, police missions, or just trying to get as many stars as possibles, but there is a limit to when you get bored of doing this.
And you DO get bored.

There was one problem I had with the game. And that was the character control. Walking and running felt like a trip down Mission: Impossible. What's worse was when it came to beat/crowds of police/thugs/gang members. It was truly horrid. Even the battle system in Eternal Darkness (when you're not using targeting) was better than in GTA3.

I think it's what the media has said that has led people to buy this game.
"This game is the most violent!"
"You can pick up and kill prostitutes!"
"You can run over anyone!"

Stuff like that. But statements like these have been taken out of context millions of times. These things are said usually to criticise the game. Not advertise it. Advertising that you can pick up prostitutes and kill them in a game would put people off. Sure, there would be the people that defend it, like Acclaim for BMX XXX, but it would hurt them. The casual gamer buys this game because of statements like the above. Reminds you of Sony's remarks: "THe PS2 is so powerful, it has enough power to launch a missle".
It's a bit hard to believe that a game like GTA3 has some of the most in-depth gameplay with all that's been said against it, but it is true.

When the casual gamer buys the game, they expect really nothing else except mindless killing and prostitute murdering and car strealing. When they actually find the good gameplay and the exceptional depth it goes into, they automatically divide into three sub-groups. Those that might play the missions, those that will play the missions and get bored and go back to mindless killing and driving around, and those that don't do the missions at all and only do the mindless killing and driving around.
When I first played the game, I was the third group. When I actually sat down and played in on the PC (At the Netbang Internet Cafe in Bankstown), I found quite interesting. I had no sound, and didnt really get what they were saying, but it was pretty enjoyable, for a game like that.

If it comes out on Gamecube, whether it is a remake of GTA3/VC or a completely new game (GTA4), then I'll buy it.

Nintendo Gaming / Metal Gear Solid Discussion
« on: March 02, 2003, 06:53:30 PM »
Whoa, a real news story.....from Nintendo of Australia.

Could it be?

But really, finally, Konami are making a Metal Gear Solid game for Gamecube. A METAL GEAR SOLID game, for GAMECUBE.
I have to tell all my friends.
If it's the first two, then this is really something worth talking about. If it's Substance or some other spin-off, then, well, I guess the fact that there's a MGS game on the Gamecube is good enough. If it's Metal Gear Solid 3, then well, open pop open the bubbly, and let's celebrate!

I start my life at University tomorrow (or today, since it is now twenty past the hour of midnight)! I only go to Uni on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday!
- Monday 3pm-5pm
- Wednesday 8am-9am
-Thursday 10am-4pm

Sux about Thursday, but how cool is Monday and Wednesday! Only a couple of hours at Uni! HA! And I got Tuesday and Friday off! HAHAHA!

I get 20 bucks cash off me mam and pap every week so in 5 weeks, I can get a new game. Plus I'm gonna trade in XG3, and maybe Bond. I might get a job, but that's just not me.

And Zelda? Well, I've already got Ocarina of Time on N64, so I'm not really THAT insistent on getting the pre-order games, but the fact that other PAL regions have it and we probably won't says something about the imcompetance of Nintendo of Australia. But I want it anyway, and Master Quest has been sounding juciy ever since the 64DD.

*Shoots AiAi*

And Dark Cloud 2? For PS2?
*Turns and swings at Mario*

And who else thinks that Rick's editorial was sooooo enlightening?
I think that all these blowouts before E3 makes me all gooey and happy inside. I mean, Metal Gear Solid for our little GC, heaps of 1st party games, MULTIPLE Silicon Knights games, possible online games, and Miyamoto-san's smile at the mention of LAN games only makes this E3 more exciting than any before it.

Nintendo have only just started telling people about the free game deal because EB's one was unofficial.

I'll be pretty disappointed if the pre-order deal doesn't come to Australia, but I'm just glad I'm getting Zelda.

Leave Waluigi alone. He's the man.

If they include a cast as big, if not bigger than Super Smash Bros melee, then it would be a pretty fun game. But I don't think anything could top the nostalgic feelings that SSBM invoked onto the player.

Ok, I went to EB Bakstown yesterday, and asked them about the Zelda ore-order deal.

It's not happening, as far as they know. I even told them about Mario's story at EB Burwood. And as far as I know, it's not coming to Australia. But then again, it's coming in May, so we might get it yet.

« on: February 25, 2003, 02:06:48 PM »
None of us are worried that Nintendo might abandon us for 3rd party status. It's just those damn analysts. But I was pretty surprised at how much money Nintendo has as well. And, that makes them 1st in the console buisness to me. And that's a big profit. Looks like they may be able to snap up Capcom after all. Maybe.

And if E3 is anything Nintendo says it will be, I think this one will be better than 2001 (remember the unveiling of SSBM? Man, that was coooooool). There are sooo many games to show. Hopefully, there's an absolutely MAAAASIVE blowout of games.
