General Chat / RE: Final Fantasy Concert in Sydney!
« on: March 20, 2004, 05:19:29 PM »
It's not a game concert per se. Just a concert for Final Fantasy and Studio Ghibli music

I'll probably buy the CD - you go in the draw to win box seats or something to the concert this year and Sony MP3 player or something.
The tickets are around 70 bucks, and the CD is 20, so it'll be worth it

BRidget is Hot.
I think my friend's sister is hot, and I think my sister's friends are hot.

And yes, Pulp Fiction is an awesome movie.

The pic of the big guy in inverted colours seems to be the Squall from Final Fantasy 8.
Perhaps Final Fantasy: Guilty Wing is Final Fantasy XIII-2?

General Chat / Final Fantasy Concert in Sydney!
« on: March 20, 2004, 02:58:46 AM »
I don't know if ANYONE was aware of this, but last year, there was a concert for Final Fantasy music held in Sydney at the Sydney Congress Hall. Not only did they play music from Final Fantasy, they also played music from the soundtracks of Studio Ghibli's films - Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neightbour Totoro (composed by Joe Hisaishi).

Very Cool!!

I was in the Kinokuniya Bookstore (which, as well as being a HUGE bookstore in its own right, has a HUUGE range of Japanese manga and novels!!!), and there was a guy selling CDs at the front of the store, recorded from last year's concert, and thats where I'm getting all this from.

So it's MORE cool that they're planning on ANOTHER Final Fantasy concert late this year, in Sydney - I think in the Sydney Opera House!
They're also trying to invite Nobuo Uematsu himself!
The concert this year probably won't have Joe Hisaishi's music, but there is the possibility! If they do decided to, then Joe Hisaishi himself may appear also!!

The CD stall will be there till May i think. I put my name down for a newsletter, so I'll let you know if anything is announced!
Meanwhile, here's the website:

EDIT: new version of the site isn't fully working yet, so give it a few days.

I never even thought about DVDCrave getting MGS from Europe
I must email them NOW!
Tell them to give me an AUSTRALIAN copy of the game!!!

Oh, and if you actually DO cut out the barcode for MGS, you can always print out the boxart that the guy did here on PGC, and stick that into the box
At least it's a nice alternative to the crappy US version and a cut up Aussie version =/

Yeah, it's a good range of games to choose from, and they even put a 3rd party game in there too!
Tak must be an alright then, if NAL is willing to support!

But at least we're getting the disc.
I'll probably buy 1080 as my second game (I'm buying MGS), but there's so much incentive to buy Mario Golf, what with the competition and the three extra cups the put in there for us Aussies.
But I do like snowboarding in real life more than golf, so I'll prolly buy 1080.

WTF, thats a LOT of games you're getting, Akdaman
What about MGS:TTS? You're not going to support Silicon Knights and all the work they put into bringing Snake back to a Nintendo console?

185
Yes.
Yes I will be >=O

And you'd better be happy that we're destroying our beautiful game boxes, NAL!!
I don't know if I'm going to buy 1080 or Mario Golf.
I'm leaning toward 1080 though, cause snowboarding is cool, and none of my friends have snowboarding games on their PS2s - yes, they forgo SSX, cause it's not Gran Turismo or GTA3.

OOOH, sorry Aiai
*backs away*

Eftpos is just a fancy name for the process of using your keycard (not credit card) at the shops to buy things, and/or to take money out at the same time.

Ordering MGS was my first online purchase too, and if AiAi hasn't had any money problems by them, then it's ok by me.

Hey, are there any tv ads for FF:CC that you've seen?

Hye akdaman, I just pre-ordered MGS from DVDcrave.
They don't explain their pre-order system very well at all, so I had to email them for info.
What happens is you just simply go thru the normal ordering process (you have to register with them first - email and name is all), and they send it to you as soon as they get the first shipment it. Simple, though I thought they had a whole system just for pre-ordering, and that was where I got confused i guess

One more thing.
You can pay by credit card or by Direct Deposit.
Credit Card is self-explanatory and you do the usual tidbits.
But with Direct Deposit (only for Aussies), you have to make sure you have the ability to do online banking.
DVD Crave doesn't ask for you bank details and charge you from that - they give you THEIR details and you transfer the money to them, as if you were transferring money from your account into a friend's account.

Hope that helps.

The only thing I see about this game is that it's looking decidedly bland anda bit blurry.
This is JUST based on the screens provided thus far, but nonetheless I'm getting this game anway

As long as Leon can move in as realistic a manner as can be, rather than the really robotic, and slooooow movements of the previous character models (swing knife once every 3 seconds, repeat) then it'll be cool.

Well OMFG!

I'm only planning on getting MGS right now, but I think 1080 will come soon after with a 'impulse' buy
And how exactly do you register the games?
Is it like entering the code thingy on the NOA website thing to join that rewards program thingy thing thing?

So is these ACTUAL cups that you unlock IN the game? So there's the K-Zone Cup, the TV Hits Cup and the Nintendo Australia Open cup to unlock....
These had better be EXTRA cups and not the normal ones with new names.

But it does explain the massive delays. An unexpected surprise! It is a crappy way to market the magazines though. There must have been HUGE sums of money exchanging hands between those two mags, NAL, NCL and Camelot.

I've got so many ideas it's not funny.
With the way I'm going, I've planned on 3 videos. Two are around 30 seconds, the other is longer.
But there's no way I can learn to edit all the footage (if I have the courage to film any) in time for the deadline, unless I become a supercomputer and plug myself into the Matrix.

Tank, I need an expert lesson in Adobe Premiere quick!

Weapons shouldn't be the main point.
It's all down to the tracks.
There were only 16 tracks in MKDD. Sure it's a lot, but for a GC game that expands on the series, that really isn't too much. Super Mario Kart had 20 tracks all up (though simple as they were).
Mirror mode doesn't really count.
There SHOULD be more variety in the tracks, rather than simply a road. THings that are exclusive to the Mario/Mushroom Kingdom Universe should be used to their full extent.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Silocon Knights + Konomi = Nintendo's revival?

Original game, please. No more remakes of old games.
UNLESS they were new games in the series.

I don't think ANY small developers would like to have their creative talents go to waste in making remake after remake. Sequels......well.......that too.
As soon as ED was released and played, people scream we want ED2!
No, not yet. It's taking 6+years for Too HUman to come out. Do that first.

And Retro should be allowed to make Raven Blade (or similar) and their Car Combat game, rather than doing Metroid Prime 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7 and........

Even Rare are stuck making sequels to their game series.
But then their original games don't look to interesting, since it's not the same Rare we know. GbtG....meh. Kameo.....meh.
If Banjo Threeie has the same kiddy funny attitude it's had in the first two games, rather than trying to be hip and cool like Jak 2 and Ratchet and Clank with guns and laser weapons (which I know MS will somehow make Rare do), then the true spirit of BK will be lost.

NIntendo are stuck too, but at least we know they branch out a lot to create new gameplay experiences in both software and hardware (DS anyone?)

Well thats a good enough reason, then Jones
I was actually thinking that about the explosions too - perhaps the springboards so something more than just propel a rival into the air......

A Story mode is an ok idea, but there really is no point, other than to put in some FMVs, unless it's done in a similar way to Diddy Kong Racing, but then we don't need a clone of Diddky Kong Racing (which was a clone of Mario Kart in the first place).

I reckon that simply putting more tracks with more Maro-style obstacles (rather than tracks with Mario themes in the background).
One thing I think they should bring back is coin-collecting. Yellow, red and blue coins to increase your overall speed, etc.

In Super Mario Kart (SNES), all the CPU characters couldn't pick up weapons. They all had their own weapons that they could use unlimited times. Bowser had fireballs, Mario and Luigi had Stars, Yoshi had eggs, Peach had shrink mushrooms, DK had bananas.
It's similar to the system they have in MKDD where every character has their own weapons. Difference to SMK is that everyone has to use the item boxes.

I think the possible weapons for the 'next' game are pretty cool, although the reason why  a springboard wouldn't be a good idea is cause it already causes the same effect that a bomb or shell would do.

But those course enhancements and course ideas are absolutely mind-blowing! Now THAT would be TRUE Mario Kart!

Termin8or 3 game was released? You mean it's out in stores now? O_o

Wow, considering the amount of crap they put into advertising Enter the Matrix, why didn't Termin8or 3 get anything? Both were crap games by Atari, both are based on ultra-popular licences, so why did EtM get the better end of the sh*t stick?
Oh, cause it had bullet time.......;___;

But enjoy that copy x 1000 of Driver, DrZ!
Those graphics are sure to please you with eye-bleedingly blurry and ultra-violetly-eye-burning brightness!

N64 ports is not what I'm looking for.
Just cause it's 'as' powerful as an N64 doesn't mean they should port over N64 games.
It was a hard time looking at the blurry, fog-ridden levels in some games on the BIG screen, it wouldn't be hard to go blind here.
Please, just excellent, innovative games. I know that it might look the same, but at least they weren't already on the N64.

I love the idea of the touchscreen/pad!
Imagine the having your gadgets being activated by the touchscreen? Driving Bond's BMW form Tomorrow Never Dies using the touchscreen pad like he does by using the mobile phone; detonating explosives via your 'watch', it gives all sorts of possibilities when it comes to spy action/adventures like Bond.
