PC's dont' get enough Japanese loving for my taste--hense why I'm an Sony fanboy--I need my JRPG/Strategy games fix.

Either I can upgrade my PC (my current specs are medium-end--quad core/4GB ram/1GB VC) for $500ish or buy an PS3 which would play just about everything I want anyways minus a few exclusives MMO which I never bothered to get into.

My buy price of the PS4 is going be around $300 or so--so I'm going wait a year or so after launch but usually there's no major RPGs at launch anyhow and my backlog is still freaking high.

"Ymeegod, they did announce on the stream itself that it's 8GBs of GDDR5 Ram."

Like I said, they said the GPU has DDR5 not that the entire 8GB was DDR5.  Hense split configuration.  That's my theory anyhow.  Just like an current PC.

There was some gameplay screenshots anyhow--the car demo and Capcom's Dragon beast thing did show signs of a hud.  But yeah, I'm not falling for "kllzone" in game trailer again (cough Killzone 2/E3 show cough).

And I dont' think Sony stated it was 8GB of DDR5--people assume that but I think the official word was "fast memory" which could be just DDR3.  Or they could even have another mixed configuration.

Not loving the whole game-touch-pad thing or the whole kinect copy/move stuff.  Rather keep the price low and dropped those "features" altogether.

Happy about hearing about "crossplay" with the vita--now we have to see if Sony can make it happen.

No price point--I'm guessing we won't hear anything official until fall --I'm expecting at least $400 with maybe a crappy tossaway game bundled with it.

Early report place this game already selling an million in 2 days--not bad for a remake.  Me personally, still waiting for an enhanced DQVIII--my personal favorite in terms for story and characters.

Reminds me I really need to finish up DQIX.

Those are from two differenet people.  John paid $400 for WII/vc stuff while and nintendo accredited his account with $200 WII U E-shop cards while the other guy bought $570 worth of stuff, nintendo refunded his account in full + $50.

Two different outcomes, one guy got the short stack while the other guy made out pretty damn good since like he stated they refunded 100% of his investment + $50 additional dollars.

"would've known that he wouldn't have been able to, just like everyone on this forum knew "

Actuallly Nintendo has the ability to restore his account, they do it all the time with "stolen" systems and this one is similar case.  Most likely the "retailer" sent the unit back to nintendo so tracking it down shouldn't be a problem.

Went ahead and picked up Diablo III for $30 (highest I paid for an VC since 2008).  I kept missing those $10 deals (Toys R Us + Microsoft Game Store)--still overall pretty pleased with it since I imagined to get a few legendary items within a few minutes of online play.

Also nabbed Persona 4 Arena--$20+tax.

And lastly picked up FFIX for $5 from PSN.  Couldn't find my 2nd disc so this is more or less my replacement.

And you assume the game is actually finished?  It really wouldn't take Ubisoft 7 months to port the game over to PS3/Xbox 360 since the game is built around the original Rayman Origins engine (meaning the middleware engine is already good to go).   Even without the ports I would assume Rayman would have been delayed anyhow.

Just because an release date was set doesn't mean Ubisoft was finished with the game.

"Ymeegod, you also falsely claimed that no third party Wii U game has sold more than 20K copies "

You really have to read--I said preorders.  And if you look at the past Rayman Origins then there's more fans on PS3 than there was on nintendo systems (Rayman Origins sold the most on the PS3 followed by the 360 and lastly the WII in terms of home consoles).

So there's going more people pleased with this going multi--then upset about it.

LOL, cry if you want to but the WII U preorders for Rayman Legends were pretty damn low--Ubisoft had to make an choice and going multiplatform was the safer bet.  Still don't see it selling all that well but at least with it being on three platforms the "total" sales will at least make it somewhat profitable.

As for the delay, it could be a good thing in a way, the NFC feature sounded like it was dropped so hopefully they can work something out.  Also they were toying around with "multiple" gamepads so that'll be something if they can add that support as well.

"I mean now days a AAA game costs up to 15 to 30 million dollars to create. We have seen small studios and big name companies go down the well '

But you also see new companies exceed as well--Techland, Rocksteady, even Irrational Games found success.  The video game industry is a very cut throat business but the HD era didn't make it this way--it's always been this way.

Nintendo Handheld Discussion / Re: Paper Mario: Sticker Star
« on: February 06, 2013, 06:11:17 PM »
Man, ended up finally finishing the game and like most of you I ended up needing a guide.  Couldn't figure what what nintendo was thinking with no-exp.  Ended up voiding most minon battles because defeating them didn't do anything but waste an sticker which most likely costed more than your reward.

It's clearly not an RPG anymore, more or less an adventure with it's try-try again puzzle solutions.

I much perfer M&L games over the latest entry Paper Mario Sticker Star.

16
I'm talking about the whole Rayman series--there were like 4-5 WII games that the Xbox360/PS3 didn't get.  There wasn't an excluisve contract between Ubisoft and Nintendo, it was because the game didn't have any appeal to the xbox/ps3 crowd according to sale data.

Same with Sonic games.  They sold better on one platform then the others so games like Sonic Colors became exclusive not because there's some "magic" deal but because they publisher didn't bother to port the game over to platforms that it couldn't sell on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

17
"Can I have 3 realistic examples for each MS and Sony?  I can't think of one good one.:"

*cough*Rayman Legends?*cough*
Just about the entire lineup on Vita?  RE Revelations being the latest.
And there's tons of Japanese games that were only WII/PS3--Tales of Graces for one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Did anyone here call foul?  No, because why should Capcom bother with Vita ports when they don't sell? Or support a sytem like the 360 in the East where is doesn't have an fanbase?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18
"western developers clearly have a biased against the WiiU, "

LOL, love the whole conpriacy theory complex.  It's funny about the double standard, when MS or Sony gets the shaft then nobody here calls foul but when it happens to nintendo it's all *biased* developers.

It's comes to the bottom line--sales.  Want more support, buy 3rd party games and get your friends to buy them as well.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the highest 3rd party WII U, it's right now Zombiu which is you count bundles is around 300-350K WW.

19
Darksiders 2 was the highest ranked WII U game at launch and it didn't even break the 20K mark.  Tekken Tag Tournament 2 bombed even though it had Nintendo exclusive mode and skins.    Hell even same day release titles didn't sell all that well, CoD BO 2 and ACIII both undersold.

Even the exclusive Zombiu isn't selling all that hot, Red Steel sold more during the same time frame during the last launch.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully Rayman Legends does alright but considering how bad Orgins bombed I wouldn't be surprised to see this one undersell.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

20
You forgot about sales?  Number 1 reason why the WII U isn't getting support is because 3rd party sales for the initial patch of games were poor to say the least.  Hense why nintendo needs a price reduction--boost user base for the the WII U so some software will actually sell and maybe you'll get to see the ports evey other system is getting, Vita's in the same boat.

Why waste company resources (in this case people) on porting a project that will only generate a small % of profit when they can be working on another project that's going have a much larger profit margin.  You can outsource the project to other company but then you might scarcifice quality of the game.

21
"like you think."

Did I say that?  Glad you like putting words in my mouth.  No, it can exceed if marketting is done correctly.  With agressive price drop, bundled software, and timely release titles I expect Nintendo will still make a decent profit but it really can't afford anymore delays.

22
Do you call the 3ds a flop since it had a price drop within a year?  It's not even a 2 years old yet it's going (the orginal anyhow) for nearly 1/2 of the orginal MSRP?  No,  price reduction is easily the quickest way to increase units sold.  More units sell, the higher third party support is going be.

------------

"not that much more powerful than Wii U (based on rumored specs), "  Where are your reading your info from?  Everywhere else it's stating the output for those sytems are 1.2 Tflops for Durango and 1.5 Tflops for PS4 which is nearly 3 times that of the wii U which is around 500Gflops.

23
"$150 by the end of the year"  I stated by the time next-generation releases which is looking at 2014 most likely.

And a four year cycle span isn't that hard to believe, how many years did the wii actually have?  6?  How many years since it's last major release?  Besides the late port of Xenoblade/Last Story/Zelda Skyword Sword the last two years were a joke.

A four year span will allow them to release 2 years after Xbox Next/PS4 launches meaning Nintendo could release something of similar power of those systems and keeping a few third parties on board.

---------------------------------------------------

24
Actually the WIIU CPU is running at 1.25Ghz.  3-cores at 1.25 vs 8 cores at 1.6 and you can easily see who's going win.  The only real bottle neck is going be the ram--all three systems went with DDR3--though MS and Sony are aiming at 8GBs it's still slow ram.

Right now it looks like MS and Sony are going be around three times as powerful as the WII U.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only saving grace will be nintendo's strong point--pricing--by the time Xbox Next/PS4 hit I imagine the WII U will be under $200 making ideal for the parent/student crowd.

Also I'm expect the WII U to have a rather short life span--by 2016 I bet Nintendo will have another console that's going be on par with the next generation of system (making the WII U life span 4 years).

"don’t be flawed in strength or magic."

Actually if you invest a few points in luck you'll never have to worry about any physical or magically weakness.  Usually I have one high level "luck" character in my group to use as "bait" especially for long ranged magic attacks which are a pain otherwise.

Which also brings up my next point, Palidins are usually you main attack force mostly because they have only one weakness and that's against certain types of horse slaying weapons which in most cases the enemies don't bother to carry.  Axes are supposed to effective against them but axe weilding characters have some poor luck stats and they miss 40-50% of the time.

-----------------------------------------
A quick question, in this game is there stages where you can replay over and over again to level up weak characters?  That's one of my pet peeves about FE series is alot of times you focus on just leveling up your main party so alot of additional characters are unused and overlook.
