Nintendo Handheld Discussion / Does anyone know...
« on: March 29, 2005, 06:18:36 AM »
... If Dynasty Warriors DS is 2D or 3D?

I've heard from a few people that DWDS, in an interview, was revealed to be 2D. But in another interview, a dev said that it had 3D models so that would make me assume it's 3D. So, I want someone to tell me what demension it's in.

I seriously hope it's not 2D, because if it is... then that would really, really... really suck.

I seriously need to get my hands on the latest Nintendo Power...

Here.

Namco (surprise surprise) is bringing an all new franchise for the DS, which is basically what the DS was meant for, when you think about it.

Here are some screens for the game.

You have to admit, those screens look impressive. They might be FMV, but still.

But, really, you'd think Namco was obsessed with the DS because of all their support. 8 friggin games people!

On a different note... my rampage of spam seems to have begun yet again. Just trying to be informative folks...

Link.

Alot was revealed in the current issue of NP... I believe they even revealed Katamari Damacy DS. o.o

Edit: I just thought of Namco's support for the DS... Katamari Damacy, Mr. Driller, Ridge Racers, Pac n' Roll, Pac Pix, Xenosaga, Baten Kaitos, Soul Calibur, another RPG... pretty overwhelming.

Edit again: Appearently Nintendo has a new logo for what could possibly be a camera add-on for the DS.

Edit yet again: A new rumored Capcom game entitled "Devil King" for the DS.

I seriously hope it's a hack n' slash ala Devil May Cry...

General Gaming / You know, I admire Nokia's ambition. Sort of.
« on: March 15, 2005, 06:57:20 AM »
Yup, a new N-Gage.

The reason why I'm somewhat admirable towards Nokia's aditude is because they know not to give up. Nokia's N-Gage is the center of negative jokes and whatnot, and people consistantly lable it as a "failure". While that is a bit true, Nokia still keeps on trying and never gives up. They ignore the negativity, and they just keep on going. I like that aditude.

However, I still believe it's also incredibly stupid on Nokia's part. N-gage is, in fact, a failure; both the original and the QD. It's not smart to keep supporting and updating a system and risk a very high chance of losing yet more money through this thing. Now with 2 next generation handhelds coming out by 2 extremely powerful game giants, Nokia's pretty much digging their own grave. The, yet another, iteration of the N-Gage line is almost garanteed to flop, because of DS and PSP, both of which have graphics (and games) far, far superior to Nokia's handheld.

But still... go Nokia! I guess. They need all the luck they can get.

Nintendo Handheld Discussion / New DS games. They're edumacational!

Um, w00t I guess.

Great for kids, but that sort of goes against Nintendo's "DS attracts an older audience" theory.

Nintendo Handheld Discussion / Monkey Island 3 on the DS?
« on: February 15, 2005, 07:27:05 AM »
I just read something about Monkey Island 3 on the DS.

Just click "nintendo ds" in Google News Search and click "sort by date".

I was just able to read it right now, but for some reason, literally only a few seconds later they required you to register.

Heh... if someone by any chance registers, feel free to copy and paste the story here.

Nintendo Handheld Discussion / Animal Crossing DS...
« on: February 01, 2005, 04:59:31 PM »
... Do you think it will have the cool NES games that were in the GCN version, or possibly new NES games that weren't in the GCN version?

I think that would be sweeeeet. Nintendo could possibly put those NES games that were in the Classic NES series, just so we could save some money...

Anyway, what NES games would you like to see in Animal Crossing DS?

General Gaming / A thread for people who have actually PLAYED the PSP...
« on: January 26, 2005, 10:56:22 AM »
I know some people have already played this thing, so how does it really play? People make this thing sound like it can walk on water, Steven Kent even said that the PSP "is something like nothing before it". But what do you think of it compared to the DS?

P.S. Sorry if this is off topic or spam... I seem to have alot of topics in this catagory of the forums.

Nintendo Handheld Discussion / Official DS Sales Thread
« on: January 21, 2005, 04:12:45 AM »
Well, seeing this thread has been up for quite a while now, lets discuss DS sales over in Japan.

And lets hope it will finally catch up to PSP in sales... considering it's been outselling DS for over 2 months now.

15
First, read this.

I love the DS. I love it's potential. It's enigmatic uniqueness and potential are some of the reasons I love the thing. But it's not a GB.

Now that the DS is here, it should be no doubt in anyone's mind that GBA sales will fall. Sure, it sold well during the holiday season, but you have to realize that it is going to be the last time the GBA sails well.

When the next GB comes out, DS sails will fall. And since GB is not a DS, it won't be backwards compatible with the DS. So that means goodbye DS, goodbye potential. We'll just go back to playing games the "normal" way again.

I don't care if GBE has GameCube graphics, I don't want the DS to crumble. And I say that the next protable Nintendo makes should be a GB DS, possibly with GCN graphics, and a much better design.

Nintendo could create 2 development kits for developers: 1 kit allows developers to utilize all the functions of the hendheld, whereas the other allows them to only use 1 screen without all the features.

Nintendo Handheld Discussion / DS needs more "mature" titles
« on: January 11, 2005, 11:58:38 PM »
Nintendo is trying marketing DS to an older audience than the GBA, but I have yet to see some "mature" titles on it.

PSP is really tempting people with games like GTA, Metal Gear, and 2 Devil May Cry games. If DS can get some big mature titles like that, it would without a doubt sell through the roof.

But my question is, if Nintendo is marketing DS to an older audience, how come developers aren't giving it the full amount of griddy love that the PSP is getting? Why can't we have DMC DS? Are they just really ignorant?

I have yet to see 1 M rated title on the DS. If it can get a GTA, MGS, and DMC, then it would without a doubt attract older gamers.

NWR Feedback / Help!
« on: January 09, 2005, 05:59:19 PM »
I remember a really long time ago in the news section of the site, there was a really funny picture of Shigeru Miyamoto with bugging eyes. I think the name of the article was "Best Shigeru Miyamtoto picture EVER!"

I've looked everywhere and I can't find the picture.

Can someone help me?

Mods- I'm dead serious here, so there's no need to lock.

I've heard several people (can't speak for this forum) worry and think the Revolution won't be something truely revolutionsary.

Well, I've recently talked to a developer who is working on Revolution software, and out of desperity (sp), I asked him if he could give any Revolution details.

And it worked. Currently, I know the media format and even about a Revolution game. (I promised him I wouldn't tell any of the big details he gave me)

But the developer told me that the Revolution, is in fact, going to be revolutionary, which is basically the message I'm getting across here.

So there's no need to worry; Revolution is going to be here to kick @$$ and take names.
