Title: Play Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime 2
Post by: StrikerObi on July 22, 2004, 08:31:12 AM
All you need to do is get to San Diego in the next four days.

Thanks to a tip from one of our readers, we've found out that Nintendo has a booth this year at the San Diego Comic-Con. Convention goers will have the opportunity to play two huge upcoming Nintendo Gamecube titles, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes and Resident Evil 4. Along with these titles there are also some Game Boy Advance demos.

Other companies, including Konami, EA, Activision, and THQ also have booths at the cons with demos of their games.

The San Diego International Comic Convention runs from July 22nd to the 25th and is being held at the San Diego Convention Center. Entry costs $60 for a four day pass, or anywhere between $15 and $30 for a single day (depending on which day it is).

Not fair, Nintendo!  Can't you just visit my Best Buy or something?

Interesting. Where better to hype the 'Cube's biggest titles than a large convention of nerds? ^_^

Once they start frothing, the casual gamers may pick up on it? Not all of them are geek proof....

BTW, if anyone cares, they're skipping Spaceworld again. Seems like they don'twant to do it for the Cube.

as long as they do it for Revolution I'll be happy.  Infact, I wouldn't mind if they just did it for each new home console's debut.  It would be like the anticipation for the Olympics instead of the myriad of yearly sports events (minus the Tour de France hehe).

Yeah, they're giving the Tokyo gameshow a miss as well. Seems they've opted instead to operate roadshows all around Japan... I wonder is this a sort of international extension of that policy?

I think that as long as they spread everything out enough - even if ends up a bit thin - then the whole 'national roadshows' thing could be pretty effective, especially with Nintendo's market.

In other words, they don't pamper the press like other companies do...

Hmm... I remember that the gaming press has problems with Nintendo becuase Nintendo doesn't give out as much swag (free stuff) as other companies as well as sending review copies out later than most, if at all.

I don't blame the Video Game press, I mean if I didn't get free stuff for doing my job, which I am also paid money for, then I would dislike Nintendo too. [/sarcasm]

Personaly I would prefer if more game companies would cater to the actual buyers of their product instead of trying to get more press or better review scores from critics. I'm not just refering to the recent Driver 3 fiasco either, review fixing happens in all areas of the entertainment industry, including video games, and those that believe differently are fooling themselves. Also do they really need to have big E3 parties that probably cost more than the current annual income of most third world countries?

I'm not saying that all the video game press works this way, just a large portion of it.

Anyway, back on subject, why do all of these pre release showings always happen on the east or west coast and never in the center of the country? I mean us Texans like to try games out too.

Sup San Diego crew?  Who wants to come over to my place and play lots of video games and possibly have a homosexual orgy?
