Title: Where is Mario 128?
Post by: Chode2234 on May 12, 2004, 11:16:47 AM
I have been looking forward to any news or anything regarding the 'true sequel' to Mario 64. Since we haven't heard anything so far from E3 can we assume we won't? What do you guys think, will it be put off until Revolution or what?

I hate all this "true sequel" nonsense. We got a Super Mario 64 sequel. It's called Super Mario Sunshine. If you didn't like it, tough sh!t. If Nintendo refers to it as anything but it's just damage control. SMS was always meant to be the Mario 64 followup.
Considering they already revealed the new Zelda it seems unnecessary for them to reveal any other games that won't be released until 2005. If another Mario game is in the works for the Cube odds are it's not coming out this year so they might as well save it as a surprise for next year's show.

If there really is a Mario 128 or 'true sequel' or whatever, I would want it to be a launch title on N5. If nintendo needs time to make this game perfect and 'revolutionary', I can wait.

You get a sequel: Mario 64x4. Slightly better graphics, new levels and multiplayer. If that doesn't make it a "true" sequel...

I think it's definitely coming to the next system, Nintendo already hinted that there would be no more Mario games for the GameCube, and with Revolution or GCnext or N5 or whatever you want to call it about two years away, now is the time for Nintendo's developers to be thinking about the launch games.

If not this year and not in SW2004 .. than they probably pushed it for NextGen.

Reggie has Wario-style intensity and deserves at a minimum inclusion as a playable character in the next SSB.

Mario 128 is a launch for sure. Nintendo NEED to launch with Mario. Having Mario come out now would cost more development time and therefore the next one after that wouldn't come out till half way in NR's life.
