Title: E3 Admissions
Post by: WuTangTurtle on April 08, 2004, 01:23:40 AM
How exactly would a person be able to go to E3?

I work at a store that sells video games (Sam Goody).

I'm in school trying to get a bachelors degree in GAME ART & DESIGN.

would this be enough in order for me to go?

and would i have to pay?

As far as I know, its a media-only event, so that won't be enough unfortunately.
Maybe a local can give some more details.

Well i heard that anyone who works at a GameStop or EbGames can go.  Actually 2 of my friends work at GameStop and they are going with expenses paid.  They told me to try and register on the website but I havent gotten a rejection or acceptance yet.

E3 is a corporate show. You have to be affiliated with a games company to go, and the company usually chooses who will represent them. It is not open to the public.

Yes, as long as you work in the industry whether that be working at a store that sells video games, or part of the print/online press you can go.  Myself, I will be going as a member of the online press/media.  Media briefings...here I come!

You've got a problem though. While you do qualify for Package 5 of general admission (free admission to the show floor for members of the industry) the deadline for applying is April 9th, which was yesterday. It's $325 for general show floor admission if you're not in the industry.
