Title: NOA Reveals Q2 Release Dates
Post by: Jonnyboy117 on February 17, 2004, 10:01:04 AM
Dates set for Custom Robo, Wario Ware for GameCube, and more.  But where's Pikmin 2?

Though these dates have been displayed on the individual game pages for several days, Nintendo today officially added the following releases to its 2004 schedule.  This is mainly significant because individual game dates are often based on retailer information and can change without notice, while NOA's official release schedule is based on their internal expecations of when the games will ship.  Here are the new dates:

06/28/04 Mario Golf: Advance Tour GBA
05/24/04 Mario vs. Donkey Kong GBA
05/10/04 Custom Robo GCN
04/05/04 WarioWare Inc.: Mega Party Games GCN

Of course, this list includes only first-party games, and it could be modified later on.  Conspicuously missing is Pikmin 2, which was previously expected to hit the U.S. in June but now appears to have been pushed back again.  The sequel was once expected to be released in late 2003, but it has been repeatedly delayed since the original announcement.

The new schedule also marks the first official announcement of the GameCube Wario Ware title being released in America.  It was released last year in Japan as Atsumare! Made in Wario, selling briskly.  Click on the "Related Game" link in the sidebar to find our import review of the game, which will retail in the U.S. for only $29.99.  (The Japanese version was also budget-priced.)  Nintendo also lists Custom Robo with an MSRP of $39.99, ten bucks lower than the usual software price.

im dissapointed about pikmin dissapearing, it was my main game for that time slot..
custom robo has always looked good, i'll probably pick that up.

luckily, i'll still be playing harvest moon: AWL at that point, if they keep delaying it, i might have to wait till then to play it anyway :anger:

Heh, Mario Golf was actually announced at the same time Mario Tennis was...Which was a long, long time ago...(I'm assuming you are talking about the GC versions)

I certainly hope this isn't it; where are the big guns?

It seems that they're shooting themselves in the foot (again.) I'd advocate to get some blockbuster titles (Who knows though, Wario Ware and Custom Robo wil be exceptionally good) during the summer. Why?

A) Kids K-12 are out on Vacation! More time to 'Game on!'

B) Older teens and young adults are probably working decent hours, which means some disposable income. And we don't pay Taxes! (Save sales tax.)

C) What has happend (and may happen again) is that if they delay the titles for the hoilday season, there will be too many titles to grab, and either not enough time to play it,  or not enough money to get them all. Companies complain their title didn't sell well, blah blah.

Oh well. Hopefully Tales of Symphonia will be on target for a July release. Now THAT seems to have all the elements of a bonafide hit!

Actually, Djunknown, the summer is notoriously bad for game sales, and the spring isn't too much better. Besides, this is only for April to June- 3 months.
