Title: Arcade Legends Sega Genesis

Sega Classics Return

The multi game console will plug directly into the television and allow users to play seven of Sega's most popular Genesis games that are pre loaded onto the system.
i find it strangely funny that many of us speculated that nintendo's exciting new product that was announced a month ago would be a nes or snes system along the lines of the ique.  as we all know, it turned out to be the ds.  but that hasn't stopped sega from releasing its own version of the fabled nes/snes controller-system.

The only reason I'd buy this is if Gunstar Heroes was one of the games, in which the chance of that happening is ridiculously low...

However, I can see a certain someone purchasing it the second it hits shelves...You know who you are...

One of the hottest game systems of the Christmas holiday season last year was the Namco TV Games joystick, featuring accurate versions of Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaxian, Rally X, and Bosconian that plugged directly into any television with video and audio inputs.
where the heck was i for all this?  i've never even heard of this product until now.

Seems like I saw those at the local Toy Works(KB Toys).  Never did pick one up.

I've seen the Namco things everywhere, and there was an old Atari collection one, too. Around here, it's usually apart from the regular video game sections in stores, and usually in the toy department. I see them near the counter at GameStop here, though.

Well, here the GBA and GC get shoved into the toys departement, so it's not hard to find those while looking for games. The Atari one is the only one I've seen, though.

From the article:
"The Sega Genesis was the dominant platform during the third generation of video games and Sonic was the number one game of that generation. We are thrilled to be able to partner with Sega Toys in offering such a high quality gaming experience in such an accessible format."

Yeah if Donkey Kong Country didn't exist.

Anyhoo I already have Sonic on Sonic Mega Collection.  I don't have a Genesis though so I may buy one of these if the games on it are good.  However I could probably buy a used Genesis for less than that price and thus have much more flexibility.  Like Bill said Gunstar Heroes likely wouldn't be on it (who owns that property? Sega or Treasure?) and I imagine other more obscure titles like Shining Force 2 or Herzog Zwei also won't be on it.  Odds are the titles included will be some of the easiest Genesis games to find used.

I'll just take a stab in the dark and predict the inclusion of the following titles:
Sonic the Hedgehog (this is confirmed)
Golden Axe
Altered Beast
Revenge of Shinobi
Super Hang-On
Columns
Streets of Rage

I demand that Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine to be one of the 7 games......

Probably just the 6-pack and maybe a few more.

AiAi: If I didn't have it on the GC as well I'd demand that, too. Puyo Puyo is just the best falling-bricks game out there!

KDR_11k - I have Puyo Pop on the GBA, but I really like it when it involves Dr. Robotik and his bots! It makes it more fun and silly to play.

And yeah, it's the best falling-bricks game!
