Title: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Shift Key on January 26, 2004, 05:02:33 PM
Ok. I think the title says it all. Thanks Bloodworth for doing this stuff for us.
I'd like to start off by mentioning the complete lack of Mario Golf and 1080 Avalanche in any up-coming release dates really gets to me. Hell, even FF:CC is being mentioned as "Coming Soon" instead of these guys.
Anyways, that's a start. First true Aussie Thread!

Yay .
Oh and hey, Mario Golf is finally coming out on February 27th! A bit late, but it's coming!
No sign of 1080 Avalanche anywhere though. *shakes fist*

How cool is this! When i read the last post in the Aussie thread by bloodworth, i thought they were talking about......(we know where), but it turns out it's a whole new Category for us!
I am a bit peeved at the fact that there's no news whatsoever about 1080, but the fact that EB has the pre-order box on the shelves is pretty a pretty good sign that it's out soon. I mean, they have the PIkmin 2 box too!

They have the Pikmin 2 box already, when it's not coming out until like, September or something? Rad.

I rekon. The EB here never had the 'comming soon' things before. I was more than a little suprised to walk into EB only to see FF: CC and Pikmin 2 glaring back at me.
Does anyone know if NoAu has bothered to secure a March 26th release date for MGS: tTS?

27th for Mario Golf ey? Oh well, looks like I'll be getting three games next month for sure, then. Sonic Heroes, Puyo Pop and this.
I'm pretty sure 1080's slated for an April release, but who knows. I don't want it anymore, anyway. *ANGST* Take that, Nintendo!

Glad to see people showing up and starting to post. Don't forget to use the top thread to invite anyone else you can think of. At first, not even staff like Obi could see this place, but I've fixed that now.
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Mario on January 26, 2004, 06:30:44 PM
Well MGS:TTS is still listed for March 12, but since it's coming out in Europe later, i'm betting that the Aussie release will be pushed back. It's coming sometime in March though... sometime. *shrugs shoulders*
Meh, 1080. That's sooooo last year. By April i'll be busy.. not thinking about 1080.
Title: RE:Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Shift Key on January 26, 2004, 07:07:21 PM
Well I'd rather Mario Tennis GC over any of the games coming out (excluding MGS)
Where is it already? I loved the N64 version and miss it dearly... Why can't E3 come any sooner?
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: DrZoidberg on January 26, 2004, 07:53:38 PM
in regards to Pikmin 2, EB had Soul Calibur 2 boxes up since like May, and it came out in like September, so yeah, EB like to get pre-orders in early it would seem money grubbing jerks
27th for Mario Golf eh? well it's only like 8 months too late, but i'll still get it, damn you Nintendo Australia, jerk us around and we can do nothing about it aside from getting games late >=O, we -could- get a freeloader etc, but that's not for everyone..
anyway, i'm pretty hyped for Puyo Pop Feaver, except Aretardri Australia is handleing it

Anyhow any news as to locations of F-Zero GX machines in NZ?

I saw that MGS: TT has a new date for like March 9, which they said was a few days earlier. I don't know for sure when it really comes out, but I just hope that I like it a lot more than I liked MGS 2.
I have been tempted to get the Mario Golf/Tennis games, but I am not much on sports. Would someone who dislikes sports games enjoy above two said titles?
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Infernal Monkey on January 27, 2004, 01:06:28 PM
I'm not into sports, myself (Excluding the F-Zero championship which I plan to enter when it exists in a few hundred years). But I really liked Mario Golf on the N64. It was relaxing, happy and fun. Don't know about Mario Tennis, never played that one.. But I spose I would of liked it. Smash Tennis on SNES and Virtua Tennis on DC were cool!
Title: RE:Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Berto2K on January 27, 2004, 01:20:35 PM
I would put Mario Tennis above Golf, but that is just me. Golf is too fine-tuned for my liking. Just gimmie something to smash something else with. None of this tippy tappy crap .
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Bill Aurion on January 27, 2004, 01:32:54 PM
I hate sports games, but I can honestly say that Mario Tennis is one of the best games for the 64...It doesn't matter if you are playing with friends or against AI, it's a blast...
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Mario on January 27, 2004, 04:12:03 PM
Wow, for the last few days i've actually been playing Mario Tennis 64 (more like for the last three years omg tee hee!), it's awesome, i'd give it a 10 out of 10, i love it! Mario Golf.. eh, i haven't really played it much, i'll be playing the GCN version next month though! =O But, i like sports, but that's not why i like these games, you would enjoy them whether you like sport or not... i think... whatever.
Speaking of Four Swords GCN, i wonder when it's being released here, if at all? I haven't heard anything on a PAL/Australia release for Four Swords... hmmm around the block it's wonder wtf o'clock
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Termin8Anakin on January 27, 2004, 04:31:09 PM
Oohhboy, if you haven't heard of any place in New Zealand that has AX, then we for sure wouldn't know if there are any. If in the case we do find some info on AX in NZ, we'll let ya know
Four Swords looks better and better by day.....well.....everytime there's new info on it , and I think it will surpass FF:CC as the GC-GBA link multiplayer game of choice in Oz.... If FF:CC actually does well in Oz then I will be very much surprised. Nintendo isn't really doing so well, and if you have to spend even MORE money to play a game, the chances of it doinf well here are slim.
Title: RE:Game Bitching Thread
Post by: akdaman1 on January 27, 2004, 07:17:32 PM
Well I dont know about you guys but the games I am looking forward to will most likley not make it out here.
Tales of Symphonia Baten Kaitos Custom Robo
I also really want
Harvest Moon Final Fantasy Metal Gear Solid but they all come out weeks apart from each other.
I personally am not MUCH of a sports fan but Mario Golf was UNBELIEVABLE ...but I wont buy the GCN version seeing as its now old news. I really disliked Mario Tennis because the arms felt very short and the game was uncomfortale ( because I was used to the gameplay mechanics of Virtua Tennis ).
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread

Quote Mario Golf was UNBELIEVABLE ...but I wont buy the GCN version seeing as its now old news
well there's flawed logic if ever i've heard it, if you mean that it's been around in America for a while then how exactly does that effect you? o_O and if you mean you've expirianced it all before on N64 then err.. still doesn't make alot of sence, but what ever :\
strange as it may seem, the two titles on the horizan i'm mostly hyped for is Puyo Pop and Harvest Moon, take THAT popular australian gaming genres... says me who just finnnished playing CS.. ohwell ^__^

You won't buy Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour because it's 'old news', yet you got Animal Crossing? OOoh, also, speaking of Harvest Moon. DVDcrave will be selling it for $70.
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread

yes they sure will! and FF:CC for $80 or $90, i forget which, and aparently finding out before posting is too difficult for me =o, either way i'll be grabbing them from there, and puyo pop if they have it, saving on shipping ++

I am looking forward to Harvest Moon as well. Currently I'm playing FOMT and like it. One thing I especially like is that the clock won't be in real time. Animal Crossing got boring for me because of that and that fact that there wasn't much to do. Selling fruit, hunting for money bags, trying to collect stuff, killing roaches, and cutting weeds gets old.

Dont you all get it ...I never ever make sense. DERRR .
Nah seriously , Harverst Moon was great because it is so addictive but Animal Crossing has raised the bar for the simulation genre and I dont think HM AWL can reach the leve.............
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Infernal Monkey on January 28, 2004, 02:20:47 PM
I dunno, I'm thinking Harvest Moon will provide a much deeper experience than Animal Crossing did. HM lets you get married, and you get to take care of a pet dog! Plus there's the whole farm thing, and the ability to get drunk. ^_^ Take that, furry little Animal Crossing-ville!
"Oooh hoo, that dog has a puffy tail! Here puff, here!"
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: nitsu niflheim on January 28, 2004, 03:20:32 PM
Harvest Moon for the GCN lets you have a pet that is different than a dog this time. You can have a turtle for example. I love turtles so I am gonna have me a turtle for my pet. I think you can have other animals instead of a dog, but the turtle is the only one I can remember. Did I mention I love turtles?

I do wish that Harvest Moon would allow you to choose to be a boy or girl though. I'm used to being a boy in most games and really don't care. But since in this one you're building a life and all it would be nice. In FOMT when I'm walking around meeting cute girls who like me I just feel like a big scary butch chick or something.
Oh well, maybe they'll think of it in the next one. -__-
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: nitsu niflheim on January 29, 2004, 06:13:17 AM
You wish has been granted. Sort of. There is a second version of both Harvest Moon games, the GCN and GBA version that you play as a girl, and it has been announced that both the girl versions will be coming out of Japan, but I don't remeber if a date was listed when I read the news. From what I read, the games are pretty much the same, except you play as a girl and you go after boys and court them, just as in the original version you play as a boy and court the girls. I hope this brings a smile to your face.

Billy Hatcher GET!
I went to EB and grabbed the $99 copy and said "uh another EB is selling this for $49 so can you price match it?", so the guy price matched it and i got it for $49! True story
And uh, things weren't very pretty in Target and Kmart on the GCN side. I had to search for the GCN games, and there was still like only 5 or 6 games, and they were crap, oh well. Oh yeah! The "playable" GCN in Target had a sign on it that said "Out of Oder", tee hee, out of oder. Ah, what a day.

Bill: Well now's your chance to live out your Bridget fantasies. Gender bending get! (Did I actually say get?)
akdaman: Who says I have to get pregnant? Maybe in my fake video game life I'll be single and childless. I'll get a shack up boyfriend who'll help with the farm. Maybe I won't even do that. Maybe I'll just run around town and be a total slut.

You know I've bitched about the price of MGS: TTS being $110 and refusing to buy it for that amount on MSN.
2 discs GC games cost $110. I've been wondering, is it the same with other games on other consoles in Australia? Like, the FF games on PSone that came with 4 disc, were they more than $110? I'm curious, b/c I don't see why 2 disc should be more than $100. Heck, many PC games come with 2 discs or more, and they don't cost more (or the ones I buy).
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Mario on February 07, 2004, 09:25:13 PM
Well MGS2 on PS2 was well over $100.. but that.. was one disk.. *jumps out window*
It's weird how MGS: TTS will retail for only $40 in the US, which is cheaper than your average game, while over here it will be more expensive than your average game, and thus Australia gets screwed YET AGAIN!
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Infernal Monkey on February 07, 2004, 10:56:20 PM
Final Fantasy 9 launched at $79.95 in Australia, a four disc game. The initial shipment also came bundled with a bonus disc featuring the Final Fantasy movie trailer, too. ;__; But then, every Konami game this generation that's on 2 discs or more has been $110. Konami are greedy bastards.
At least it beats the SNES days. Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Super Mario All-Stars were over $130 when they launched, true story.

What is the rationalization for charging Australians such ridiculously high prices? I just don't get it. Especially since your dollar is worth way more than the usd shouldn't the games actually be cheaper?
I saw the website topshop.com.au and can't believe they want 50 to 100 aus for the games. translate that into usd and try to charge the American public those prices and I think Nintendo would lose the American market completely.
I know the Freeloader is both a blessing and a source of frustration for you since you shouldn't have to resort to importing titles that Nintendo of Australia is dragging its feet on. But, do many of you resort to importing? And is it cheaper than waiting for the PAL version of a game to come out?
Well, if anything, it does look like topshop.com.au has a pretty good deal on Piglet's Big Adventure. ;P
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Mario on February 08, 2004, 09:57:34 AM
Well, apparently it is cheaper to import, but that's way too complicated for me.
We could get a freeloader and MGS:TTS from the US, for about the same price or cheaper than just getting MGS:TTS here, and we would get it a month earlier too.
XGRA comes out on Friday, for only $49, if anyone cares....
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Infernal Monkey on February 08, 2004, 11:38:33 AM
I think I may just go ahead and get a Freeloader. I was planning to last month with Wario Ware GC, but never did, because I was saving up for the games that were meant to come out this month. But oh, delayed for no reason. ;__;
A Freeloader is only $25 + maybe $5 shipping at lik-sang.com, yet if I were to buy one at Games Wizards, it'd set me back $89.95. Insanity!
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Termin8Anakin on February 08, 2004, 01:34:36 PM
I don't complain too much about the price of games, since I don't buy too many to begin with. I have no idea why games cost so much, but the fact is the worth of our dollar isn't really compared to with the US dollar. Just because a game is only 40-50 bucks in the States, doesn't mean that it should be 70-80 bucks (the aussie equivelent) here. That would mean the worth of all currencies in the world 'should' be based against the US dollar, but thats not the case. I have no idea how it all works, but games are stupidly expensive, and we are pretty much the losers. When the aussie dollar passes the US dollar (it's around 76 US cents now), then I'm gonna import like crazy. Not games, mind you, other things
I might actually start buying my games from that DVD Crave place too, since stuff there is so arn cheap. But then I can't buy games on impulse like I do at the shops There's nothing quite like seeing a game, then just up and saying 'oh f**k it' and tossing it onto the counter and parting your cash
Viewtiful Joe, Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart DD, XG3, Super Monkey Ball 2 and F-Zero GX were all impulse buys - a spur of the moment thing. That means that the only games i bought with lots of thought were Rogue Leader, Eternal Darkness and Wind Waker.
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: ThePerm on February 08, 2004, 02:18:00 PM
i keep telling you peoples...its the tariifs. you have high tarriffs..... a tarriff free verison of a game would cost equivelent to what we pay.
Title: RE:Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Shift Key on February 08, 2004, 02:28:28 PM
We just signed a free trade aggrement with the US. I'm not sure what's involved, but it basically means tariffs in certain areas are reduced/removed to aid trading between Australia and the US in important areas of the economy. But whether this extends to electronics products or *gasp* electronic entertainment products, I have no idea. But hopefully the price goes down a bit.
Ms Pikmin: There have actually been a few $110 games recently - TS2, REmake and XIII come to mind. ;_________;
Termin8: Instead of buying impulse games, try buying impulse alcohol - its cheaper and makes you the life of the party. Trust me
Title: RE: Game Bitching Thread
Post by: Ocarina Blue on February 09, 2004, 08:49:48 PM
Don't worry, the agreement is slated heavily in the USA's favour. That means potentially lower tariffs on Aussie's behalf. I don't understant why they were there in the first place; it's not like the Australian games industry was flourishing uder their influence anyway. Ah well, more chips for the bargain, I guess. Speaking of game's industry, there is a games development conference in my home town. It's retty far away from you all, I know but it looks pretty cool anyway.
$110AUS is about the average price of a game here. ;P

I thought it was closer to 120 Ocarina Blue. Anyhow, I import EVERYTHING. The GBA abd GC I got back in Japan. most of my games come from the US through a friend. Cheaper than going online. AAlways buy big as in serveral games at a time. Got four games for 300 NZD including postage. 3 GC, 1 GBA, all fresh.
Shame you live on the wrong Island Ocarina Blue, I might have been able to hook you up.
Never the less, buying games here is not worth it.
Some of you mentioned tariffs, well, if that was true then PC games would average that much. But it doesn't.
The exchange situation over here is really strong right now with the NZD breaking the 70 cent mark. I will even say it will go all the way to 80 cents. I can only hope it stays up there as at the end of the day, it only helps to normalise our economy to the rest of the world. But the reserve bank will act before the 80 cent mark unless they have ideas otherwise.

Yeah, you're right. I've been considering getting a Freeloader and importing - but I hesitate. Now is a good time to start, but now is also the time I have little money. Games are good and all - but I'm working on a 3D project with a 667 Pentium :s I need a new computer. I also need this awsome binary clock.
The exchange rate is a hard one. It could go anywhere. My chief concern would be the housing market: the prices between North and South are evening too fast.
There is genuine demand now, I'm sure - but I'm also weary to it's causes. When immigration cools down, and if Central Otage and Cantabury have another drought this summer, the South will become much too reliant on the market. It might not be too bad in some places, but I have relatives up Queenstown and Crowell who have, between their three households, gained in worth about $700K NZD in two years. That's just too much too fast.
I guess what I'm trying to say is the RBNZ cannot control individual regions, and the inequity between them is too great.
On a completely unrelated note: Gamasutra has reported that Nintendo has confirmed the N5 will be revealed at E3 2005. They sight Reuters as their source. Anyone know if it's true?

The property prices were artifically inflated by forgein buyers going after all those coastal properties and the massive influx of forgein students and immigrants in Auckland which in turn feed back down to the entire country as the overflow had to go some where. Also people just buying property hoping to cash in later is creating alot of uneeded demand.
Technicaly, the North and South Island shouldn't be equalizing at all. It makes no geographical/demographic sense. 2/3 or new Zealanders live in the North Island and the remander live in the South even though the South is the bigger Island, but colder. The thing is that New Zealand is not in any danger of runnin out of living space ever with the current trends of having a stable population, even with immigrants. As I said before it is all artifical.
My call is that the economy as a whole would wake up from this and th property prices would run down hill like crazy. Think the goverment ca stop it? They can't do a thing. Sure they could raise interest rates, but that in turn would mess up alot of other sectors which don't need it. That's why they haven't rasied them, because there is nothing the RBNZ can do without damaging the economy as a whole. Some hate to say it, but it is all forgien for now.
On that note, game prices will not change even with the exchange rates due to the fact one, the companies have decided to ride it out believing this to be a relatively short term phase. Two, they make more money this way, they pocket the difference.

Prince of Persia and Pitfall Harry (omg lol) came out today. PoP's $79.95 and Armpit Hairy is $69.95. I like, couldn't track down a copy of Pilot Wings 64 today, but I did find a pretty shoddy condition copy of 1080. Man, I don't remember the frame rate being that bad. ;__;

I don't know about you guys, but i think the GCN lineup for the first half of this year is rather sad. The only game i'll be getting most likely, is Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes... well, and Pokemon Colloseum, if it comes out in time, which i just.. doubt. Last year around this time it was crazy, Sonic Mega Collection, Resident Evil Zero, Metroid Prime, Pokemon R/S, and.. other stuff. Meh, i'm disappointed.

I agree. The first half lineup is really quiet. Other than MGS: TTS, I don't know about the other titles.
I would like to get Beyond Good & Evil, Prince of Persia and Harvest Moon, but I don't have the time to play them.
I have yet to get KOTOR for the PC.....

I just finished Beyond Good & Evil today. Wow, a great game. You guys should pick it up asap. It didn't grab me and keep me glued like WW did. Nevertheless, in the middle and end of the game, some of the cut scenes gave me goosebumps becuase of the character development and the emotional ties between them that YOU develop in addition to the emotions felt on screen. Add to that a clever and awesome last boss battle and....

There hasn't been a decent GC game released here since MP5 in December. I'd say Sonic Heroes, but it's not even really officially 'out'. "Five copies Australia wide, that'll tide them over till March!"
Oh yeah, Puyo Pop didn't come out today. I have a bad feeling it won't come out at all. ;__;

Hahaha, apparently Atari only plan on shipping a very small amount of MGS:TTS copies out. Are they insane? Now i'm contemplating pre-ordering it.. but i don't want to get it straight away, i was planning on picking it up a few weeks after release.. bah, stupid Atari.
Anyway, who's publishing Harvest Moon here?
And uh.. FF:CC is coming out soon, anyone seen any form of advertising for it? *gets run over by people on lollerskates*

New releases: James Bond - Everything or Nothing - $100 - meh, screams AUF or NF. PASS! Rogue Ops - $100 - wow, I know nothing about this one! PASS! ummm, NFL Street? - $100 - blargh. PASS! Great lineup of releases *looks to spend money on alcohol instead*
No signs of FF:CC or TTS (which is now April release ;_____; ) yet so GUUUUUUUUUUUUUURN to that.
So I bought MGS2 Platinum instead (excitement-o-meter for TTS is about a five at the moment - that's "Shrug followed by more drooling over RE4)
EDIT: Also saw PoP for GC and Xbawx @ 100. Get it! Its fun. Probably better looking than the PS2 version! Did I say get it already? Yes, well, get it!

ANGST ANGST ANGST, the only place Puyo Pop seems available for Gamecube is the atari.com.au website, but unfortunatly they don't have an online store. fail. even though they did, what ever you order they would send you Driver 1 ;___;, DVDcrave only has the ps2 and xbox versions, it's not to be found in EB, so damn pathetic.

Agreed. ;__; I was so looking foward to the colourful insanity of Puyo Pop. Spose I'll get the inferior PS2 version next week, if there's even any copies of that version left. Which I doubt. So there we have it, Atari Australia have screwed up every Sega game on GameCube (excluding Sonic Adventure 2, Virtua Striker and Monkey Ball. They were launch titles).
I don't seem to be playing much at the moment. I've got all these games that need lovin', but I just can't be stuffed. I think I've played more of PilotWings 64 than anything else lately. Skydiving and Cannonball are addictive ++!

I saw the latest Hyper yesterday with a review of the "We haven't forgotten to release it, really!" 1080 Avalanche. They gave it a 77%, which was what I expected.
GOTM went to Everything or Nothing, with a 90% I think. Once again, not surprised at all, considering the drought of decent games at the moment.
I also see that EBgames.com has TTS and HM:AWL for US$40 ---> points to a reduced price here, hopefully!

Oh GoD I just found the most underrated game in Lost Kingdoms. Now I know its not Final Fantasy but reviews made it out to be a complete bomb , a disaster, a utter failment.
In all honesty it wasnt too bad , a bit on the short side and summon bosses such as the Enchanter are really annoying but its not a bad game.
Highly reccomended.
P.S - Can someone suggest to me a few games ? ..I need a few new games but I dont know what to get ...im thinking 1080 , Skies and Ikaruga but I will probaly never find any of them ...even in America.

Your best chance of getting either of them is finding them second-hand, ebay, or import from Europe (if they are still selling it). Haven't got Ikaruga, but if you like RPGs, I highly recommend Skies from the bottom of my heart!

Gotta agree with Zoidy here, ak. Apart from Skies, you can find those games in any shop here fairly cheap, and like Shifty said, hit DVD Crave to get them even cheaper. How about getting your Mum to pick up some games we'll never see here?
Like Midway Arcade Treasures (Upon further investigation, this game didn't get a PAL release on Xbox or GameCube anywhere, not just here..) Or maybe Pac-Man World 2 with the bonus Pac-Man VS disc? Cubivore? Bomberman Jetters? (Atari distributed Bomberman Generation here, so there's no chance Jetters will get a decent release.. Plus it's MEGA budget priced in the US). Stuff. =o

akdaman, ikaruga is not hard to find here. I've been it at just about every video game store I've gone into. Skies I've seen at several EB stores.
If she's coming to a major city there are probably EB and Gamestop stores on just about every corner. They're popping up around here like Starbucks. Make a GOOD list and trust she'll find most of it. You can even check store locations on the internet so you know just where to send her.
Remember she's coming to a privileged NTSC territory where games actually exist. Don't waste a chance to load up on really good games with stuff like Simpsons Hit and Run.
And, by the way, I'm a huge Simpsons fan too along with many around here. It's just that Hit and Run would in no way make anyones short list of games if they were given your opportunity.
Title: RE:Game Bitching Thread

I am a big SImpsons fan as well. I rented Hit andRun one time and got bored of it after 2 days. Yes the different comments were funny, but the continuous back and forth driving (I know thats what you supposed to do) got to me. The other city cars are always in the same place, and memorizing the streets isn't hard. It gets easy pretty quick.
I gotta agree with all the others. Get games that are rare or don't exist down there. Games like VJ. BG&E you may actually have a hard time finding here. Since it dropped to $20US, EB Games has also stopped seliing the game in all of the US.
I am definitly finding MGS much more entertaining and fun to play than I do Splinter Cell. I have only played SC for maybe 30 minutes, where as I am playing MGS just as often as I did WW when that came out.

I will take out BGE or SC and put down Ikaruga. You see its not like my mum will really try to find it, she knows jacks**t about games and would have no idea where to shop. I'm worried she might get me SC for the PS2 or solmething.
Anyway shes going down to Miami ...how easy/hard are they to find there ?

n00b Guide to Ordering Online & Importing
Quote Also where do I pick it up ? Can I have it delivered to me ?
That depends on the shipping type and total size/weight of the shippment. If delievered by FedEx or UPS, they will drop it at your door, and you'll may have to sign. Airmail, either at your door or mail (well to me).
If order from an Aussie site, and delivered by Australia Post (most will offer Express & Courier delivery too), they may leave it in the mail or if can't fit, at the front door. But they are not suppose to leave it at front door unless someone is home (they are suppose to ring the doorbell). So, if they aren't lazy and no one is home, you may have to pick it up from your local Post Office, and be sure to bring ID to prove that you live at that address.
Quote Now I live in Melbourne and want to know what is the cheapest site for me to import off ?
DVDBoxOffice is a good Canadian import site that offers free shipping worldwide. Or from AUS, like everyone said, DVDCrave
Quote And how fast is the delivary ?
That depends. From DVDBoxOffice via airmail, 2 weeks is the norm. I ordered Princess Mononoke from them, and received it in less than 2 weeks! DVDCrave, a few day, unless they are lazy. I ordered Animal Crossing from them, and it took awhile. Lazy bastards. I will order Prince of Persia & MGS: TTS from them. They better be quicker this time.
Quote Im thinking about importing off www.dvdcrave.com but Im not sure how the system works...can anyone help me out ?
(1) Go to the website. (2) Click on Information at the top (3) Under Ordering / Payment, read the info on Ordering, Pre Ordering & Payment Options You can also pay via fax if you want.
I hope it helps!

Since I'm not sure where else to post this, and opening a new thread seems pointless, I have a cool little tidbit of news.
FF:CC advertising is around! CRIKEYNESS! Big W has oversized novelty boxes and a FF:CC "Who Are You?" poster too. I can't seem to find that ad online so it makes me wanna steal it, but its out of reach. ;______;
Oh yeah, I'm not dead. Just thought I'd let you know

Hey, are there any tv ads for FF:CC that you've seen?
Hye akdaman, I just pre-ordered MGS from DVDcrave. They don't explain their pre-order system very well at all, so I had to email them for info. What happens is you just simply go thru the normal ordering process (you have to register with them first - email and name is all), and they send it to you as soon as they get the first shipment it. Simple, though I thought they had a whole system just for pre-ordering, and that was where I got confused i guess
One more thing. You can pay by credit card or by Direct Deposit. Credit Card is self-explanatory and you do the usual tidbits. But with Direct Deposit (only for Aussies), you have to make sure you have the ability to do online banking. DVD Crave doesn't ask for you bank details and charge you from that - they give you THEIR details and you transfer the money to them, as if you were transferring money from your account into a friend's account.
Hope that helps.

WRONG. You go directly to jail! You do not pass Go! You do not collect $200!
Do not need online banking to pay via Direct Deposit. They have their bank details listed, which is the ANZ back. You can go to an ANZ bank, fill out a deposit form, and bingo, it's done! And I just did that today!

Ok thanks Termin8 and AiAi.
O.k I think I know how im ordering it.
My friend Zero_Plauge just recently told me bout this card called an Eftpos card. Where you put money onto it and can use it to order online. Now my mum will get me this soon and I will put some money onto it using some glue or sticky tape ( anyone got any better suggestions ? ). Then I will use it to order TOS from Dvdcrave.com
Now does anyone know how reliable this site is ...and how much it will cost me all up ? ...I mean it IF it say $70.00 for the game does that include shipping and handling ? ...also Is it delivered to my door ? How much extra to have it delivred to my door?
P.S - Sorry that Im asking so many questions but Im a bit nervous on ordering online after watching a few certain Current Affair programs.

OOOH, sorry Aiai *backs away*
Eftpos is just a fancy name for the process of using your keycard (not credit card) at the shops to buy things, and/or to take money out at the same time.
Ordering MGS was my first online purchase too, and if AiAi hasn't had any money problems by them, then it's ok by me.

There were no GCN-GBA link cables anywhere either, and i need another one, how am i supposed to get another one when their aren't any? Hurray. -__-

Carrying information from the Atari thread... how much will EB be selling Harvest Moon for? It's RRP is only $80, but i bet they'll sell the game for $100, because it's rare, and because they're EB.
I actually saw a copy of FF:CC today =o. But i can't buy it unless i have another link cable. Take THAT Nintendo, minus one sale for not supplying stores with enough link cables.

Harvest Moon get! ^___^ No copies for non-preorders at the Parramatta EB, Ubisoft supplied them with three copies. That's it. It seems like a brilliant game so far, my face went ^_________________^ when I got to choose a dog at the start.
After I broke my face, I er, played it and stuff. Very cute, beautiful graphics, and DOG. It's awesome because the pointy ear dog looks just like my dog in real life. Wee! It was $79.95, it takes a whopping 47 blocks (The AC mem card came in handy ) and it's a damn shame Ubisoft are being so demented with its release.
omg my name is Infy, dogs name is Sam and farm name is Mobius (omg sonic the hedgehog cameo) who wants to trade NES games???!11

If by "update" you mean "not change a thing except adding another version of Beyond Good and Evil with a different release date", then yeah, they do "update" occasionally.
