Title: NFL playoffs
Post by: rpglover on January 11, 2004, 02:02:58 AM
if anyone was watching yesterdays games they would know that they were some of the best football playoff games is years- my god did anyone see the carolina/st. louis game- it was unbeliveable- that might have been one of the most rediculous football games i have ever seen- and the patriots game was a close one all the way- very nice to watch- all i hope for is that the eagles destory green bay and move to the superbowl

Bah.  Even though I don't watch football, I greatly prefer Canadian Football (CFL) over American Footall.  Less downs means that the plays are much faster and more coordinated.  It doesn't allow for any screw-ups, as well, because you have less chances to get it right (or wrong, for that matter).

I prefer college, because for one, the teams, who are albeit no where well as built as pros, are going to play harder, or atleast how they play it looks that way.  Besides,  it beats driving 3 hours to see the panthers (who I do go see anyway) when I can drive downtown to watch the gamecocks.

Exactly.  And in case anyone thought otherwise, LSU is the National Champion.

Heh.  That would make me hate football too.

At least you can look forward to Eli Manning in a Raider uniform next year (or at least another high pick).

they dont try harder in college, it just looks that way because they arent as good. i used to like college more, but for some reason i started liking the pros again. there have been some good playoff games so far. i cant believe green bay lost that game. they had it and they literally threw it away. whoever wins the afc championship will win the super bowl...at least that is my prediction.

Two top defences vs. each other hmmmm, this is going to be a fun match.  Will the patriots blow them out?  If they win by 3 I will be surprised.

i love defensive games as opposed to most who like high scoring games. i just dont want either team to be too dominated like in the last super bowl. ironically i hate offensive teams, but the two most exciting super bowls i have seen have had the rams. i just want some big hits and a healthy stephen davis.

Well, if you want to be real specific, it's not decided who's getting him yet.  The Chargers do have the first pick in the draft and they probably will take a quaterback.  However, whether that means Eli Manning or Ben Roethlisberger remains to be seen (I think Roethlisberger will be a better NFL quaterback).  The Raiders, however, do pick second so they could still get Eli or Roethlisberger or they may even opt for Larry Fitzgerald.

I was just trying to make a point.

My bad.  I'll give you credit for spelling Roethlisberger though.  Unless you copy and pasted it, of course.

Heh.  I spelled it the first time, but the rest of the times I just copied and pasted from my first spelling.

Very exciting super bowl indeed.  I'm glad the Pats won though.

Excpet I absolutley HATE Brady.  Bring Bledsoe back.  And give Adam Vinetari an MVP.  He's won two Super Bowls in three years.  He deseves it.  And for some reason I feel that I spelled all three names wrong.

Holy crap!  What an awesome Super Bowl!  That is the reason why I the game!

The 4th Quarter had me so excited and nervous, my friend who was watching with me summed it up best with about 1 minute to go: "I can't take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I felt Jake Delhomme should have won the MVP, but I don't think the loser of the game has ever won one?

"but I don't think the loser of the game has ever won one"

Chuck Howley, is the only Super Bowl MVP from a losing team (1971).

Carolina played a tough, close game even though they were the strong underdogs...Hopefully they can show through again next year...

F U Carolina! Another year in which my Eagles cant get it done.  I was quite happy to see the Pats win, though.

Meh, I was rooting for the Panthers, I just get tired of hearing about how Brady is the next big thing, when honestly had he been put on a team like Arizona, he would dissapear in a heart beat.

i thought it was one of the better superbowls i have seen in a while- very fun to watch and very entertaining- and yes the damn eagles could not get it done- hopefully they will be back next year

LOL, you really need to watch more football. Brady is the next big team and would be on any team. This coming from someone who hates the Patriots.
Still waiting for my Colts to win one.

Brady is a winner.  Plenty of QB'S may have more skill, but none have the heart- *Manning*- and swagger of this kid, and i dont like the Pats in the least.  I'll take the QB with the intangibles before the fancy stat machine.  If he's both, then even better.

i kind of like the Pats. not that i have been a fan for a long time or anything, but i just like teams with good defenses. no matter who wins, im happy if they have a very good defense. so i havent been complaining much lately. Brady is a winner hands down, and he gets the job done.

Thanks for the info!

As for people who don't think Brady is that good......he is.  He doesn't have a strong arm, good size and mobility, but he makes good decisions and read coverages well.  He may not play as flashy as Favre or Elway or Marino, but he gets it done.

Then again Favre, and Elway both won Super Bowls by being themselves completely dominating, as well as all the things that make Brady good.  I prefer those quarterbacks.  I like players who make their team look better, not players who look good because of their team.

There is more than a few quarterbacks capable of winning the Pats a super bowl with the Patriots current roster.

manning is a mad man. i am an nfc guy so i dont see that many of their games, but that guy can read defenses so well. what killed them is that his receivers got dominated my law and harrison. i like football because its the most mentally and physically demanding game. there is so much stratagy, and so much dicipline that go into it.....plus its a true team sport....

I wait all year for the NFL. Football is my life. Of course, basketball and hockey too. (Don't want to forget those. )

Same here!

Right after the Super Bowl ended, my life became boring once again.  I cannot wait for September.  (and April for the draft!)

With the 7 months gap, I will catch up on my games I have lying around that I haven't played yet...
