Title: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance - choppy framerate?
Post by: DavidBeoulve on January 02, 2004, 12:23:47 PM
I saw one review ( http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/rpg/baldursgatedarkalliance/review.html ) that said that the GC version of BGA has a choppy framerate when there are a lot of enemies on the screen. Is this true?

The Gamecube version of Baldur's Gate is just an all around deplorable port of an otherwise good game. Don't waste your time with it. If you have a PS2, get it for that instead.

From everything i read, it was a supposedly horrid port. But i have never played the PS2 version, and decided to pay 14.99 for a used GC copy. I think it looks pretty good, and plays well, but having nothing to compare it to may be the reason. If youre in my boat, i'd advise getting a used copy as the game itself is very fun. But if you've already become accustomed to it on another system, then go with that version.

It's one of my favorite games, and absolutley my favorite console dungeon crawler. I've owned it on the PS2 and the XboX and naturally it was my first can't-wait-for-it Cube game.
What I'd like to know is what the heck happened? How could they distroy this game the way that they did on the Cube? I made my dwarf......went into the Elfsong.....and headed down to the cellar to slay some rats. I was so utterly disappointed by the framerate that I removed the disc, put it back in it's case, and there it has sat unplayed since then. (I don't trade it in because you don't get much for lower priced titles.) It's inexcusable.
As those of you who've played the other versions will know, fast framerate is essential on the later levels and difficulties when you're surrounded by minions.
