Title: Party Game Suggestions?
Post by: J1M on December 19, 2003, 01:21:28 PM
Hey everyone, previously a long time reader of PGC (before the name change) I've fallen behind in GCN news since buying the console. I'm having a party/get together at my house tomorrow night and I would like some suggestions on games to rent for it.

I own Smash Bros. of course and roommate has a bunch of single player games like Metroid Prime and Ikaruga but not too many party games. Basically, I'm looking for stuff that is easy to pick up and play and will be enjoyed by guys and girls alike (even though these girls are gamers, this will be a pick up and play atmosphere).

I was thinking the usual Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Monkey Ball but truthfully I haven't played the latest incarnations of these games and I have no idea how well Monkey Ball would work as a rental (don't you have to unlock multiplayer games first?)

I'm sure that is more than enough information for a few good replies, since everyone here seems to know their stuff.

 If you wan't party games, my main suggestions would have to be Mario Party 5, or Mario Party 4, or Mario Kart Double Dash. I love all of those games! The only thing you may not like about having Mario Party games at your party is that there is so many mini games and sometimes it get's annoying having to explain the rules to the others. I usually only takes thirty seconds or so though. Mario Kart Double Dash is a must! That game is very addicting and it's fun to have one person drive and the other control the weapons and defensive items. Super Monkey Ball is also hella fun! There is multiplayer modes and plenty of mini games which can range from bowling to races. Don't forget Soul Calibur 2, that game is also very fun!

To add to that list: Kirby Air Ride is a great party game as well, much better than you might expect.

Aside from that, there are not many I can think of offhand.  There're some great games, but I've not played all of them, and some slip my mind.  Gauntlet: Dark Legacy is okay.

i'd go mario kart all the way.  if you're looking for a fps, i'd recommend time splitters 2.  it's a blast.  and for only $20, you're better off buying it rather than renting it.

JEI = Jupiter Effect: Influx

What is JEI?

Jupiter Effect: influx is a full multiplayer conversion of Unreal Tournament 2003. Although JEI uses the core engine for game play little else remains of the original Unreal game.

Development on it stopped, the team members drifted apart. I was there from the start to the finish though.

kingvudu,
I think someone was asking because we just won some money in the Unreal Mod Contest... yesterday I guess.
