I hope they say like the upcoming of Jet Force Jemenie 2. Even though there is no info on it now and will probably never exist. That would be cool.

Nintendo are planning to unveil their next line of consoles at this E3. However these are not the sucessors to the GC or the GBA. Basically its a large control pad that goes straght into the TV. This is the platform on which Nintendo are expected to release their next big Mario game on.

Don't think I won't hold you to that.
My guess is that the 'new product' Nintendo's been talking about will be the focus of Nintendo's E3. WW2 will probobly be shown as well. I'm sure I've seen interviews from the last E3 in which Miyamoto confirmed a 'Yoshi game' and a 'Donkey Kong adventure game' are being worked on by first party Nintendo developers. Information regarding those will be unveiled. Other than that, Game Zero and Metroid Prime 2 will be shown.

I think the Yoshi game is one of those TV Games that i mention earlier. They look pretty stupid to me and I dont think it will do well in the Western Market, but japan is crazy about them at the moment.

I think this is gonna be one big year... big AAA games are gonna be shown, there will be a ton of suprises, and more crap then ever before from Kentia Hall!
Of course, my predictions are probably gonna be wrong, but I still have a gut feeling.

It just look slike a list of stuff we've already seen. There are things that we've known about forever and some things that shouldn't be there. Giftpia - why about time? It was there last year... Pokemon Stadium GameCube - We've already got Pokemon Colleseum. Custom Robo - Isn't this set to be released before E3? Mother 3 - haha, fat chance (obviously fanboy wishing)

i believe mother 3 has been confirmed for japan, but i doubt we'll see it in the US. last year they re-released mother 1 & 2--most likely to help generate interest for the new game. since mother 1 & 2 isn't available in the US, it seems unlikely nintendo will make an english language version of the game.

Considering the fact that Nintendo has released/is releasing previously Japan-only titles Fire Emblem, ______ Wars, and Custom Robo, not releasing a cult favorite like Mother wouldn't make sense...

Quick question. I have never played anything fomr the Mother series and I don't know anything about it at all. I was just wondering wheather the Mother series is where Ness from Smash Bros. came from.
If it is it wouldn't be unreasonable to believe that Nintendo would bring over here. look at the Fire Emblem series. Marth and Roy made their first American appearance in Smash bros. so why can't Ness and the Mother series.
either that or I'm a total idiot and Ness has never had anything to do with the Mother series making this entire post totally useless.
Title: RE:E3 2004
Post by: mouse_clicker on March 29, 2004, 03:47:22 PM
No, you're right, Ness is from the Mother series- Mother 2, to be specific, also called Earthbound in America. mother 1 was released for the Famicom in Japan but was never actually brought over to America. Mother 2 came out on the Super Famicom in Japan and was brought over to America in the form of Earthbound. Mother 3 is being developed for the GBA, and it's unkown whether or not it will get an American release, although it's looking quite bleak considering Nintendo's reluctance to bring over Mother 1 + 2. It's a shame, too, because the Mother series is easily my favorite RPG franchise ever, with the exclusion of Grandia. It's so offbeat and different, and just plain wacky you can't help but love it.

If Nintendo goes with the story that was going to be in the scrapped 64 version of Mother 3, then Ness might not be in the game at all...But I hope they drop it and continue off from the end of Mother 2(Earthbound) with Pokey's revenge...

Of the three E3s that have had Cube titles on display the one game that wowed me the most was...
Pikmin.
Pikmin wowed me because it was totally unique. It didn't have any connection to a pre-existing franchises, it looked different than any other title, and it's gameplay was original enough that it was hard to classify it into a genre. Some people said it was an RTS but it sure as hell plays different than any RTS I've played. It also came out of nowhere. There were no rumours of its existence, no announcement, no showing at a previous show. It debuted at E3 2001 and was playable. And it was a good game too. One of my fondest memories of my Cube is playing Pikmin for the first time. Not only was it a blast but it also gave me this feeling of playing something new. No matter what the Cube was worth owning because of this unique gameplay experience.
That's what I want to see at E3 2004. No, not Pikmin 2 (though I'm really looking forward to that game) but something that gives me that same feeling that Pikmin did. Something that's unique, comes out of nowhere, and is appealing.

Ness was really only a one time character- the main protagonist of Mother 1 was a fellow by the name of Ninten (oft rumored to be Ness's father), and the hero of Mother 3/Earthbound64, as Bill pointed out, was also going to be an entirely different person. Mother2/Earthbound is just the most well known incarnation of the series, hence Ness's fame.

Starmen.net is easily the best Earthbound site on the internet. Unfortunately they've been more concerned with the site itself rather than the games, but one can hardly blame them considering Nintendo's reluctance to continue the franchise up until very recently.
