Title: Aussies. Where do you get your games from?
Post by: Jayman450 on November 10, 2003, 06:55:14 PM
Just got my cube about a month ago.  Indropilly Harvey Norman had a deal.  $149 with a game (only selected games).  I got SSBM.  It was just too cheap to pass up and I'm loving it so far.  I've got Rocky Boxing, SSBM and Soul Calibur 2.  Getting Zelda WW LTD. copy from someone this week.  Wheres the best place to get games?  The cheapest place I've found so far is DVD Crave Online.  I got Soul Calibur 2 for $74.95 when some people were charging over 90.  The also have Mario Kart DD pre order for 79.99.  Next games I want to get are:

Gamecube - Mario Kart Double Dash
Madden NFL 2004
Super Monkey Ball 2
F Zero GX
NBA Street 2
Need For Speed Underground

If anyone has suggestions on places to get games please tell me.  I don't mind 2nd hand games if they're well looked after.

well, given the cube isn't doing so great down here you have allready found the best place(s) i think, DVD Crave are absolutely awsome, aside from my stupid need to get every game i want the exact day its released i don't really see any point shopping in any brick and mortar stores like EB, especially considering DVD Crave let you pay via direct deposit, that means no credit cards.

welcome to the boards btw ^_^, i'm pretty sure i'm the only other brisbane nintendo fan around here, there are alot of aussies, but only me so far from Queensland.

come join us in the aussie thread

If you plan on importing, I'd suggest eBay.  Only because I waited a month or two after Metroid Prime's US release and got it for US$20.  Or roughly AU$40.  Not bad considering when it came out locally I saw it going for around AU$90.  Big W's catalog sales have been good for GBA games lately, too - $56 for titles like Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire, SMA4, Pokémon Pinball R/S, and Banjo-Kazooie.  Not bad considering the average GBA game is about $70.

If you want other people to do the bargain hunting for you (and who doesn't), then I'd HIGHLY recommend PAL Gamer Network at http://www.palgn.com.  They sum up the latest catalog sales and Platinum titles pretty much every week (sometimes fortnight), which can save you a lot of hassle.

Well....I've got a Q, so I have to use an Action Replay for the PAL games.  Ha ha.  But yeah, version 1.06b is on the Action Replay.

Oh, another Aussie games site (I managed to find Vib-Ribbon there):

DVD Crave has Both Action Replay and FreeLoader 1.06B for $49.95.  Why would you buy freeloader if it comes with action replay???? Will This do the trick.

On another note.  I've been looking around for super monkey ball 2 and found it's been discontinued already.  What's the go with that.  Didn't it only come out this year in Aus?  Looks like I'll have to turn to E-bay.

i saw a copy in EB the other day, it wasn't pre-owned either, a new shipment must have been delivered, because i check my EB atleast once a week, and i've never seen it before. i know asstari were shipping a massive 100 copies of both Skies of Arcadia and Phantasy Star Online out to stores, so perhaps they shipped some copies of Super Monkey Ball 2 aswell?

if you want to goto Carindale Westfield, goto the EB there, and you should find your self a copy of Monkey Ball 2 was $89 iirc

Hey Aussie ben pgc, if I import the Q player can I use the action replay to play games from all regions or do I need to get it modded to do that.

I think the default region for the Q is NTSC in japan so yes you need a freeloader or a mod thingamajigger.
