Title: Okay, so what is your PHOBIA?
Post by: nitsu niflheim on October 21, 2003, 06:31:17 AM
I'm carrying this over from what I mentioned in my journal:

Do you have phobia's and what are they?

For me it would have to be heights, as I mentioned in my journal.  I hate being up high somewhere, where there is even the slight chance I may fall.  And this is strange because when I was younger heights never bothered me, I would run around the Eiffel Tower at King's Dominion Amusement Park without a care in the world.  I hate getting up on the roof of our house.  I even hate walking up to the railing on the back deck, mainly I think that is because the deck is old and the railing probably wouldn't support much weight, even though our dogs out back like to get up on it, walk around on and even lay on it.  It would be just my luck that as soon as I leaned against it, it would give and I'd fall down into the back yard.

Spiders don't bother me, as long as they don't crawl on me, if they do I will jump and try and get them off then kill them.  They are fine as long as they are doing their job as insect control.

I don't know if it is a phobia, but I hate being in a room where half the lights are on and the other half are off.  On many occasions in school, my Creative Writing class when I was in the 12th grade I'd come into the class and half the lights were off.  Sometimes I would try and ignore it, but every time I had to get up and turn the lights on.  (This of course could just be part of my obsessive nature, which I am working on.)

Small places don't bother me, and being alone doesn't bother me.

I don't care what people think about me either, if that is even a phobia and it probably is considering that there is a phobia of the fear of peanut butter on the roof of you mouth.  I had a list once, but I don't know where it is right now.

I don't fly, that's another phobia of mine.  But the last time I was on a plane was around 20 years ago.  It has nothing to do with the September 11th terrorist attacks, it is just that I don't feel comfortable getting in something that could at any moment fall out of the sky.  I have never since that time when I was five or so that I had to get on a plane, or a helicopter.  I won't get in those either, I feel they are even more unstable than planes.  Probably because of the whole Twilight Zone movie where Vic Morrow was decapitated while shooting the movie, a special effects when wrong and the helicopter crashed into him and two small children killing all three.  It may also be to that fact because I have seen the actual footage of the helicopter going down on them.

So there you have it, so if you are willing please share.

I don't know if I would call this a phobia, but I can't stand having spiders on me.  However, I love studying and watching them...(Phobias = complete fear of something)

Bill I think it's pretty normal to not like having spiders crawl on you.  I'm not afraid of spiders (because there aren't any dangerous ones where I live) but I still freak when one crawls on me.

My greatest phobia would be wasps.  When I was around two I got attacked by a hornet and I've had a serious phobia ever since.  When a wasp is nearby I actually start sweating and my heart rate goes up.  Some people I know think I'm scared of bees which always pisses me off because bees and wasps are totally different.  I have no problem with bees and have never been stung by one.  My brother the supreme @sshole thinks it's stupid for me to be scared of wasps yet he is scared of needles (which I'm not) and feels it's a rational fear.  I don't see why needles is an acceptable fear and wasps isn't when the reason for being afraid is pretty much the same.

I also have a problem with heights but I think it's more of balance problem then anything else.  I've always had problems climbing ladders and stuff but it's more of any uneasiness than an outright fear.  I just don't feel like I can keep my balance.  Balance has always been a problem with me.  I can't even ride a skateboard.

I don't like bees, wasps and the kind and try to avoid them, but only because I am allergic to them.  I like to watch bees, I have petted a bee while it was on a flower once just to see if I could, it just sorta moved and then flew off, didn't attck me or anything.  I'm not gonna try and touch a wasp.  I like bumblebee's too.  But I avoid them if there are several of them around because I don't need to be stung.  I don't mind needles, I sometimes watch them insert the needle into my arm, sometimes I don't.  The spider thing is like me, they don't freak me out unless they are actually on my body.  I think they are fascinating.  My father bought a baby tarantula Sunday and it's neat just to look at.

I'm not sure games would help me, in games heights don't bother me, or flying.  I guess because in a game I can just reset of something goes wrong, real life has no reset button.

The Preying Mantis is my personal phobia because the head looks like the head of what Aliens are supposed to look like.  Kill them all!  They're always on the window screen, peering into your house...just freaky.  I hate them so much, i wrote a short story about them.  Won a prize too, but thats neither here nor there....

I'm not afraid of much. . . for heights I'm careful, but not paranoid.  I'm cautious around bugs, because they are potentially painful, but they don't bother me much.  In fact, I'm rather dumb about that.  Once, I felt something on my hand, so I shook it.  Look down, a yellow jacket stings me.  About ten seconds later, same feeling, same reaction.  Me idiot.

I'm a little paranoid about something pulling me into the darkness. . . I once had a dream, only one I've ever woken from afraid.  May as well describe it:

I'm sitting in my sister's room, which at the time was adjacent to my parents' room. Their door is open, and it is pitch black inside. I'm at the side of my sister's bed, on the floor, and she's perched on top of it, playing with her Barbie dolls. My parents are in the kitchen, two rooms away but still visible.
Something emerges from my parents' room. It's simply arms. . . two arms connected together, but lacking a body or anything else. It grabs me by the legs and drags me, kicking and screaming, into the darkness. My sister and parents ignore me completely, they just go about their business. The arms pull me into the darkness. . . I could see myself, my hands reaching forward, trying to grab for something, till the very end.
The freakiest part of the dream was the detail. I could see the texture of my parents' carpet, and I can remember every detail vividly.  I was about 10 or 11 when I had that dream.

I'm cautious around other things, too, but I'm generally a pretty courageous guy

Fun fact: I've never seen a Preying Mantis EVER in my entire life.  They don't live in BC.

Interesting that you have a phobia of Mantises because they remind you of something else.  I've always been rather freaked of the concept of beings from another planet visiting Earth and interacting with me in someway.  But I've never seen one and I don't spend my time worried about it so I wouldn't consider it a phobia.  Plus it would be pretty normal to pee your pants and scream like a little girl if an alien was outside your window.  I'm also afraid of ghosts but again since that's a supernatural occurance that I don't encounter everyday (though I think I have encountered one at least once) I wouldn't really call it a phobia.

Ghosts freak me out a bit, but I don't think I'd be afraid if I ever actually saw one.  Same with aliens.  I'd just be like, "Whoa, cool." And go on Ripley's Believe It Or Not or something

That happened when i was younger.  Our dog died of old age, but we still heard him dragging his leash in the middle of the night, like he wanted a walk.  Thats actually a pretty common occurrence, believe it or not.

The only real fear I have that I encounter often is having rubber bands aimed at me. I know no one wants a speeding band of rubber lodged in their eyeball, but I freak out, even if someone acts like they're going to do it. I'll flinch, turn my head, and put up my hands, pleading with the person to drop the weapon. My friends all take advantage of it, too- half my school day is generally spent in fear of going blind due to flinging rubberbands. It scares the hell out of me.

I have two phobias.

Needles - Got I hate the sight of these blasted infernal contraptions made to torture us.  I skip all immunizations I possibly can.  I would rather die of the plague than be stuck with a needle.

People - Especially people that I really like.  Talking to real people is like a big ass chore for me.

I hate needles, to, but I've found the anticipation of getting a shot is worse than the actual shot itself. I still hate them with every fiber of my being, though.

meh...shots aren't that bad....

I don't think I have any real fears.  Yes, in pitch black I get a little freaked, but it's not that bad.  My bad dreams aren't like HC's, (holy crap your dreams was freaky), but mostly stupid stuff happens that I get REALLY scared of.  Like, one time I had a dream where a toy dog fell on the ground and started barking, and I woke up in a sweat.  WEIRD.

Yeah, so no real phobias that I know of.  (actually, there is something that REALLY scares me when it happens, but I can never remember it.  guess it can't be that bad.  i'll try to think of it.)

Aye, one of my friends in primary school got struck in the eye by a rubber band, it stuffed him up real bad. He lost all vision in his left eye, and moved school a month later. Never saw him again. The arsehole kid that flinged it at him was expelled.. Which wasn't enough in my opinion..

Annnnywaay, I have a massive fear of spiders. I was biten by a white tail spider at the age of six (the bite swelled up to the size of a tennis ball on my leg, had to get it lanced). Still have a small-ish scar on my leg from it. Also, when we had a pool, I used to clean the filter. One day I reached in to pull it out, and had a freakin' red back spider leap onto my arm. They're only one of the most deadly spiders in the world. I screamed like a little girl and leaped into the pool, which was pretty stupid. Hopefully it drowned or something...

Pluuuuuuus, in English class once, a few students noticed there was massive spider sitting in the corner on the ceiling. The teacher told us to ignore it, and I tried, until it landed on my shoulder. ANOTHER SPAZ ATTACK! I packed my bags and went home after it fell to the floor and I crushed it many times with a chair leg. Home is safe! =o

I also fear the Dentist... But.. Who doesn't?

Bugs in general really get to me.  We had a slug get into our house somehow.  It completely freaked me out.  I couldn't bring myself to get too near it.  I ended up putting a cup over it and making my husband take it outside when he got home.

As far as true phobias go, however, I would say mine is poverty.  I am constantly scared that we are going to go broke and wind up living in a box.  Worse yet, with my mother-in-law.

Bees used to scare me.  But they don't anymore because once during math class, a yeller jecket flew onto my nose.  Everyone around me was screaming, but I kept my cool, yo.  I didn't want to go running around like screaming like Infernal Donkey over here (), so I just sat there, and the bee went on it's way.  Don't care about bees anymore.

Moths kinda get to me, but not too much.  But if I EVER saw a NOT CAGED MOTH with a 6 INCH WINGSPAN i would FAINT.  It's very simple, really.  I moth that big would scare even........my daddy!  And he's not 'fraid of anything! hehe....

Hey, stop making fun of me.

I hate bugs, too- I don't mind looking at spiders or insects, but I can't stand touching them. I go into spasms when I even feel like there's something on me.

Spasms are normal with me.  I don't consider it weird though.  I mean, there could be some evil bugger on your BACK?!?!  GET IT OFF GET IT OFF GET IT OFF!!!

I think perhaps my most hated bugs have to be crickets.  see, we used to feed our lizard crickers, and often times we'ed drop the box and the crickets would scamper off into the house.  I FOUND ONE ON MY BED ONE NIGHT.  I slept on my beanbag in another room for 2 nights after.  God, I'm a wimp.

ANY bug that is bigger than my nails scare the living sh*t outta me.
Cockroaches are scary when i find one just sitting in the corner of my room, then when I go to get the swatter or the spray, it's gone.......ooooooh.
I really, REALLY hate the ones that fly.
I was about to swat one, then all of a sudden it flew into my face! I screamed like a girl.
Another thing is, i hate spiders. Not Daddy Long legs or anything. Those really big, hariy, thick ones. We had a couple in our house:
I think i was 8, and i was going upstairs, and up on the ceiling was one of those bird-catcher (forgot the name) spiders, and i ran back down to get mum. She got a chair, and sprayed some crap on it, then it fell down to the carpet. Our house back then had brown carpet, and this thing was brown, so it was CAMOFLAUGED! We saw it, smashed at the floor, then it was gone. We saw it again, I killed some of my toys, but we beat it!
There was a second one in the bathroom, but it was next to the toilet, so i flushed it down.
Hehehe.
I have this thing now where everytime i kill a bug, i flush it down the toilet, so that i KNOW it's gone, and it's not gonna come back to life in the bin and come back to get me.
My sister said to me a while back that all the bugs i flush down the toilet (i have flushed down HEAPS) will one day come back as undead bugs. I'm imagining this whole crowd of bugs at the other end of the drain: when a new bug is flushed down, the ones down there just say "Steve?" and the flushed bug goes "yep" and they're all shaking their fists at me.

Well, if you haven't guessed by now, I hate bugs. Little ladybeetles are fine, and those little cute ones are fine, but the pests are........*shudders*

I also hate heights when i have to jump them, or slide down steep things. But if there's a railing or somthing, and i'm just standing there, i'm fine.

One other weird thing is that when i was in bed, i heard bird chirps.......in the walls.
I went up to the wall, and sure enough, there was a bird caught in there or something. There are holes in the roff where birds and stuff can get it. Our house is brick veneer, not full brick, so the walls are hollow (but they have insulation in them), so i think the bird fell down the gap in the walls, and got stuck.
ANOTHER weird thing happened only a few weeks ago. On sunday morning, mum wakes me up and says theres a dead cat in the back yard. I got a bit freaked. Had our dog attacked out neighbours cat? Oh sh*t. I go outside. Thankfully, it WASN'T our neightbours cat, but some small grey one. There were no bite marks on it, so thank god, our dog didn't kill it (he's a wuss, and he's a german shepherd too!). My dad and I had to dig a whole and bury it. When the hole was deep enough, i got the shovel, picked up the cat (it was scarily stiff), and chucked it in the whole. But since the whole wasn't wide enough, the cat just rolled around and turned upward, looking at us. I yelled out and dropped the shovel. Dad laughed. So we buried it.
The next week, i went outside and realised that our dog had DUG UP the cat. It was still there, but it was half covered in dirt. I was freaked. So i uickly shoveled more dirt on it, and ran back inside.

So, I'm freaked about bugs, heights, and dead things.
Thats it from me.....

A yellow jacket isn't a bee it's a WASP!  I hate it when people get them mixed up particularly when one is buzzing around my head and they're all like "Ian it's just a bee.  Don't worry about it".  Still if you're not scared of wasps anymore then you're surely not going to be scared of bees.

Regarding moths I once had one fly right into my eye.  That was one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life.

I'm scared of many things, which I'm willing to share with you guys(you guys are like family)

- Fear/Phobia of Rejection: I've always had this fear. I just have this fear of people laughing at me, making fun of me (I had this problem when I was a kid, I used to be bullied around). I'm starting to overcome this though.

- Fear/Phobia of Needles: I'm just like you guys, I get freaked out about these too. I just hate how long they can be, and the piercing of the skin...ekk..

I also really hate it when things change too much. I know I can't control this, but I just dont lke it half the time. I really think clowns are freaky too.

Bugs don't scare me at all, but bug guts make me sick.  I always gag when disposing of mutilated bugs. . . never vomited or anything, but it makes me sick for some reason. . . I mean, animals guts don't bother me.  Why should bug guts?

Also, for some reason, I can never seem to be embarassed. . . I often feel embarassed for other people, but can never feel shameful about myself.  Kind of weird, but very useful

NONE of you have weirder dreams than I. I once dreamt every night for a month that I was standing at the entrance to the parking lot of the compound of quadroplexes I used to live in(shaped thusly: |_|- I'm at the top) and seeing a stereotypical farmer, with overalls, a straw hat, everything, using a hoe in the yard of one of the houses. It's nighttime and as I'm watching the farmer, the sun comes up, but it's not the sun- it's Superman from the waist up with his hands on his hips, staring off into the distance. I swear to god, I had this dream when I was 5 every night for a month. I've had many more dreams just as weird if not weirder. I usually realize I'm dreaming, although I rarely do anything about it (I have woken myself up several times, with a little help from something I learned in Loony Tunes).

I've had weirder than that ballroom dream, but yeah. . . my dreams are very strange in a subtle, prolonged type way.  They're often quite epic.

One of the coolest dream sequences I ever remember having. . . okay, picture a parking lot. . . it's mostly full, the regular variety of cars.  Now picture it again, except vertical, like a cliffside.  All the cars are on, everything is exactly the same, except it's vertical.  I fell down a vertical parking lot in a dream once, smashing into cars and bouncing off on the way down. . . that was an awesome dream

I once dreat I was walking through the woods with my sister and another girl I knew, along with a few dozen more people. It's in the early evening and we all have lanterns we're carrying. When we get to the end of the forest, suddenly everyone except my sister, the girl, and me are left, and we're in a suburban backyard. We get up to the back porch and decide we should vacate the premises before the owners of the house find out we're trespassing. The girl and my sister go left to go out the gate. For some reason, I go right and attempt to climb over the wooden fence. When I got to the top, the lady who owned the house came out holding an ax and looking REALLY mad. I asked her if she was going to kill me and she said she was. It was at that point I remembered an episode of Loony Tunes where Bugs Bunny dreams he's in Camelot and hits himself on the head with an apple to wake himself up. I figure it was worth a shot, so I banged my head as hard as I could against the fence and lo! and behold! I woke up.

Most of my dreams aren't so concise, though, so I wouldn't be able to explain many more- my dreams have a tendency to be very complex and to blend into one another.

Little sounds at night freak me out a bit, if it's really dark.  Sometimes headlights in the window scare me, I get the feeling I'm being watched somehow.  Other than that, I can't really think of anything - I actually love spiders (well, at least if they're not ON me.. eek) and love looking at their handiwork (kill them flies!)

I don't dream much anymore, but when I do I sometimes figure out it's a dream.  Sometomes I wake myself up, but most of the times I do really dangerous stuff cause it's only a dream.

Like one time, I was inside a huge wooden playgroud looking for a lost box of cheerios with about 30 other people.  I found them, but was captured and sent into battl with Ganondorf and a few random people on horses.  So instead of waking myself up, I run as fast as I can into Ganondorf and jump on his head.  The I woke up.  I swear.

I often have dreams over and over again, but a little different each time.  I'd tell you some weird ones if I didn't have so much homework. :\

About the timid thing.  I don't like talking to store clerks, or any strangers for that matter.

THAT'S IT!!!  My phobia!  The phone!  I absolutley DREAD having to talk on the phone.  I avoid it as often as possible.  I never call anywhere, or call ahead to see if a store has a videogame in stock or something.  I HATE THE TELEPHONE.

I hate getting ready to talk to people I don't know on the telephone, but once I dial the number I'm usually fine.

I hate going to bed after watching a scary movie.

I saw The Others, and when i went to bed, i would hear the leaves rustling outside, and my wardrobe door just inching open with a 'creeeeek' sound. Scared sh*tless I was.
But then last year, I saw The Ring.
OMG!
I came out of the cinema with my friends at 12am (we were in the city, so it wasn't scary), and when i got home, i saw the TV and my skin just burst out goosebumps. I ran to my room and went to bed. And this was last year!
The really really crap thing is that my sister has long black hair, so if she wears a nightgown, all she needs to do is pull it all forward to cover her face and come toward me when i least expect it and I'll yelp. I downloaded that 'video', and i swear to god the phone rang straight afterwards. Freaked, i was!

Scary movies just make me....scared.......
But i wanna rent The Exorcist though.
And Scary Movie 3 looks hella funny.

Meningitis: This disease has been a problem in my country for a few years now, so the ministry of health decided to start an education program. By this they mean educating the public just enough that all information sounds contradictory, and reminding everyone that the symptoms are very similar to many common diseases and that most doctors will only deal with one case in their lifetime. Coupled with heavy media coverage of cases where the disease was misdiagnosed and the victim died, this had a rather negative effect on my mental health. Normally I wouldn't freak out about something like this, but I've had several friends who've had it, and the education program is like propaganda. Now there are a whole lot of people who are really scared they'll catch the disease and die. More people die of the flu than meningitis here and the education program really annoys me.

Im shit scared of bees, if i see one outside i SPRINT inside, ive been stung once, and had to be taken to hospital. If i get stung again i could die, so at least i have a reason to be scared of them, heh. Anyway, i have a pool, and i have to take that filter thingy out too, and one time i did it about 10 BEES FLEW OUT! So yeah i just dived in the pool and stayed under water for as long as i could.

Ghost type thingies are pretty scary too, i had a wierd thing happen to me once. I had a little cut on my hand, nothing huge, but noticable, and it hurt a bit. I was just walking around the house, towards the fridge to be exact and something kind of nudged me, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THERE, so i went all like " whos that?", then i looked at my hand about a minute later and the cut was gone. Not a trace of it ever being there.

And theres another thing that im scared of but im too embarrased to say it...

I've seen a ghost, the same on more that once.  I'm walking up my driveway, or driving up it and I see a sort of whitish blur move across the end, I'm not sure, but for some reason I think it is a person on a horse.

Weird dreams? There was one I can remember very clearly, and it was bizarre.

I woke up after hearing a knock at the window. Then a scary hobo came in, pointed at me, and I was tackled by a dozen Oompah-loompahs (I know they were because they were singing the annoying song) and I was tied up.
Then I was attached to a pole, carried to a jetty of some sort and thrown in. As I hit the water and started to lose air, I woke up.

Very weird.

Alright, I'll describe some of my strange dreams...

1)  This happened at least twice...I'm in a biodome-like area, with trees lining the outer part of the sphere, a flat plain-like area in the middle, and a pond in the center...However, I wasn't alone...There was a buck(male white-tailed deer) and a fawn running around.  In my dream I was trying to catch them.  The second night I had the dream the fawn ran into the pond and I swam in after it.  Once I caught it, the dream ended and I've never had it since...

2)  Videogame related(around when the Dolphin was said to be in the making):  My family is driving through the desert when I see a game store on the side of the road, and the only thing in sight.  Inside they had games for a dollar each, and systems for two dollars.  I saw the Dolphin system, Super Mario 64- 2, and Mario Kart 128.  I was so pissed when I woke up

3)  Ever had a dream where you could actually feel something?  The last dream I'm going to describe involved me walking down my street in the pouring rain with a girl I didn't know.  What was weird was that I could feel the coolness of the rain.  The dream fast-forward'd a bit till we were almost a mile away from where my house would be in real-life.  I heard a honk, and I turned around to see a friend in his car waiting about 20 yards behind me.  I turn back to look at the girl, and she's gone.  A really soothing dream...something I rarely get

I feel stuff in dreams all the time.  Like this one time....

...my brother and I were trying to catch a big ol' dinosaur (sp?).  We both ran out of the jungle in to a large white room, where we proceded to create a trap for this big meanie.  The trap consisted of a giant race car, a parachute, a pool, some train tracks, and other stuffs I can't remember.  Anyway, the trap made the dino fall on his tush, but he got back up and picked me up in his jaws.  IT HURT.  That was mean!

Well after that he, like, put me down and ate my brother....but who cares about him?  IT HURT ME!

I have a fear of phobia's.  Is that even possible?   You know I think the worst phobia would have to be claustrophobia.  You get all sweaty and your breathing starts to get really fast.  The only thing your worried about is getting out of that tiny tiny space... It's horrible.  I hope there isnt anybody reading this that has claustrophobia.

i have a phobia of babies. i don't know if "phobia" is the right word though. i'm not afraid of them in the sense that they may hurt me, but in the sense that i might hurt them. Fathers of newborn babies sometimes have this fear, that they might "break it". Not sure why i have it.

Most of my dreams (at least the few i remember) are related to sex, and so, i can't discuss them here. But it leads me to wonder: If sex dreams aren't strictly about sex, why am i having them? i'm not complaining about having them, nor am i complaining about my lucidity, but it just bugs me. i want to know why things happen and dreams are still an enigma to me.

Well, you dreams are related to thoughts that you were thinking of during the day when you were awake, so, for humans collectively, I guess dreaming about sex is normal. People dream about 4-6 dreams over an 8 hour sleep (I think), but only a few can be remembered. So it could just be a coincidence that you remember certain dreams inserted of others.
Title: RE:Okay, so what is your PHOBIA?
Post by: Bill Aurion on October 23, 2003, 07:28:13 PM
Dreams can be generated from things you saw during the day, but most come from your brain filing through your memory...

That's why you can dream about things you have never seen...You're brain basically plays around with different things that you've seen and melds it all into one thing...Which is actually pretty creepy if you ask me, not to mention that you are "seeing" things with your eyes closed...

Perhaps one day there will be a way to actually record what you dream...Wouldn't that be something? ^_^

(edit: Oh, and about the multiple dream thing...Do you realize that dreams you remember are never really finished?  It's been said that you only remember dreams that were interrupted in some way(such as waking up)...This would explain why you remember some dreams and not others...Once you finish a dream, your brain resets itself and creates a new one...)

You know what? I would so love to be able to record my dreams.
Has any of you seen Final Fantasy? Something like that!
Although it prolly won't be like one set scene in one place. I reckon dreams are like a really psycho montage of images racing past your eyes.
I mean, have aby of you ever dreamed of something really nice (like that chick you've had your eye on or that really cool game you been dreaming about) and just had something melt into that dream and take over, like huge demonic monsters or just a huge blob of human-killing essence, etc? Then all of a sudden, Braknamais comes along and saves you from your doom! He beckons you to come and follow him to become a hero, and when you follow him to his ship, you trip over then wake up.

You know, it's weird cause i remember being jolted awake by something like falling or being hit in dreams, but don't really recall that i actually woke up. It's like I go back to sleep right away.

True Story:
There was one night just a few weeks ago when i was playing Zelda at around 3am, then all of a sudden, I hear my mum screaming in terror. I just got so freaked. I thought she was being hurt. I ran into my parents bedroom, and she just said she had a bad dream. I mean, i had never though that dreams could be so scary that you would actually scream out loud.
I know there's stuff sleep talking too. That is even freakier.

Recording dreams will be possible when reading someone's mind is possible... I don't look foward to that day. Reviewing what you dreamed would be cool though. The idea of dreams being what you have been thinking of during the day makes me wonder if dreams have an effect similar to meditation at all. Bill: Your new avatar scares me.

I have never, ever had a sex dream. . . never. . . in fact, I'm sort of worried about that

Recording dreams would be cool, but I like trying to remember mine.  That sort of seems to spoil the dream.  Besides, it'd probably be all surreal and confusing. . . or, in some cases, a new, cheaper way to make porn.

i just liken it to rendering an image to hard drive as opposed to screen. Different output device, that's all.

i used to have my webcam recording me while sleeping. i think i'll start doing that again to see if i say/do anything in my sleep, and try and tie that in with any dreams i might have. i'd love to have an infrared cam, because i really can't see much until morning.

I don't think I have any phobias.  Well maybe one, fear of rejection.

I don't remember the last dream that I remembered.  That must mean I sleep pretty well to get through them all.  Also, I don't usually go to bed until I am tired, makes it easier to sleep.  Kinda like this morning, it is 5:20 in the morning PST.  And just going to bed soon and getting a lovely 5.5 hours of sleep before working for 8 hours.

you know, sometimes i dream that something in real life happens.
And then some time in the future, it happens! I'm not talking about what might happen in the next few days, but some things i've dreamt then experienced have been a couple of years apart!

Is it simply deja vu?

i reckon one of the coolest things to do would be to acually wright down the dream that you do remember. I dunno. maybe they will be useful for future reference when something happens?

"I know there's stuff sleep talking too. That is even freakier."

My brother sleep talks and it's pretty freaky.  He's usually either angry or panicky when he sleep talks and is totally irrational.  There aren't too many things as scary as a sleeping man yelling at you.  My other brother takes bizarre sleeping problems to an even greater high as he actually sleep walks.  Usually this results in him just doing something simple like sitting up while sleeping but sometimes we'll catch him actually walking around.  When he does this he has this vacant stare on his face and he moves really slowly.  It's like he's a ghost.  Freaky sh!t.

I've had that happen on a number of occasions.  Of course, nobody believes me, and i start thinking, 'maybe their right' and forget about it.  One day, we'll figure it all out.

I have a phobia of going to the same liquor store multiple days in a row.  Can't do it.  And the way i live, it makes it very inconveniant.

I have a dream that a person is talking to me.  But he's just a shadow.  And while i'm listening to him, i understand it all, and its shocking, and very frightening.  After all night with this, some sort of guard comes and pulls him away, and i see its Edgar Allen Poe.  I wake up and never remember what hes told me.  I've had this dream for over 10 years now, and its come to the point where i can almost control myself in the dream.  I try to listen extra carefully, thinking i'll remember, but alas, it never works.  But Poe looks scared when they take him away.  If only he could see my face when i wake up!

Once dreamt that I was in a rainy parking lot plaza thing.  Doing nothing, just kinda, standing there.

Two years later we went to new hampshire and we were in the same exact plaza.  I swear.  It was raining too.

I sleep talk, grind my teeth in my sleep, wake up with my covers on the other side of the room, and wake up facing the other direction (the last two only happened once).

But the freakiest thing is sleep-walking.  I think I've told you guys this before, but I once slept walk into my mom's van and woke up there.  It was scarier than any dream I've ever had.  I didn't know what the hell happened.  I go to my front door and it ws locked and I had to use the spare key.  It was weird.

Oh yes, I forgot about my sleeping habits.

I have slept walked before, at home and in a ummm, hotel.  Yes thats right, I know, I was young though, probably about 14 yrs old.  I walked out of our hotel room, down the hall and and the security guard stopped me who was chaperoning our class floor.  She took me to our co-ordinator and she asked me where I was going.  I said I was trying to find my room.  She looked up which was mine, and walked me back and let me in.  All this time I was asleep, never remembered a thing the next morning either.

Another time at home I walked into my parents room, and knelt by my moms side.  I woke her up and we talked for a couple minutes, then I stood back up and went back to my room.  Again, never remembered a thing.

Some times I will also remember being heavily active in my dreams.  Like this one time, for some reason I was dreaming that I was in a little contest with my friends as to who could kick closest to a table without kicking it.  Well I lost and woke myself up.  I had actually kicked my bedroom wall while sleeping on my side and slammed my big toe really bad.

I have been known to talk in my sleep quite often too.  Sometimes I think I yell, not sure.  It's hardly understandable though.

I once slept in a bunk bed with another guy, and both of us talk in our sleep, and we told the other people sleeping around us that we might end up doing it. The next morning they told us we were talking to eachother in our sleep, having a conversation. I also sleptwalk for a while, nothing too dangerous, though.

Man, I've got some sadistic friends- whenever I'm with them somewhere one of them pulls out a rubberband and starts aiming it at me, then laugh when I freak out.

I remember a dream like that aswell. I was very young, and was sitting in a shopping trolley while my mother was buying vegetables at my local supermarket. Then another woman took the trolley with me in it thinking it was her's, and my mother started to walk off with the other woman's trolley. I yelled and began to cry, and my mother realised what had happened and took the trolley with me in it again... Then I woke up. About 3 months later, it actualy happened, same place in the supermarket and all. I would have only of been 3-4 years old then, but I still remember thinking it was strange that something I dreamed actualy happened.

Anyway, I have a fear of hot stuff.  I DO occasionally run my finger through a candle, but that's nothing, and I love fire (alot).  It's mostly non-flame heat stuff.  I hate having to reach into the oven to take something out, or even out something in before it's fully heated.  Standing next to oil at 300-400 degrees freaks me out because I know the pot is going to jump out of it's holder and onto my foot.  Hot = bad.

BOOM.  I have remembered the biggest thing I am afraid of.  SWANS.  Seriously, they're huge hideous water devil birds, and when you go up to them to, I don't know, make nice to them they go

"HHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"

I hate swans with all of my power.  I always feel a strabge urge to go up and antgonize them, and then they hiss at me and I run away.

EDIT:  Alright, maybe they're not my BIGGEST fear, because there are monsters and ghosts and giant flaming balls of doom, but out of all the petty pointless things I'm afraid of, swans are at the very top.
