Title: Cube GB Player Question
Post by: mjbd on October 19, 2003, 07:19:42 AM
Alot of good games for the NES are being released for the GBA, and I have beening thinking about buying the add on so I can play some of these games.  Do you need to have GBA's inorder to play GBA games on you Cube, or can you use the Cube controllers?  Also, any word on a River City Ransom port?  I hope this post makes sence, cant really think of a good way to word it.

1.  I think you mean SNES ports but nobody really cares.
2.  I don't own one, but it makes sense for you to be able to use your GC controller, seeing as people without a GBA probably bought this instead.  So yes, you can use the GC controller.

Cool, thanks.  But I am talking about NES ports, such as Super Mario 3, and River City Ransom.

Super mario 3 is already released, about the GBA player, its optional if you wana hook up your GBA to cube Via the cube-gba link, yes you can use cube controllers there is also a special GBA player controller made by Hori wich is a SNES layout controller with the cube shaped ABXY buttons and theres a Z button on the face of the controller.

Edit: I checked Atlus website and River City ransom is due out 1Q 2004 and double dragon is due out nov. 11

As far as using Cube controllers, that's all you can use, I don't even think you can use GBAs as controllers.

And if you want to get technical, SM3 is actually more of a port of the SNES version that was included in Super Mario All-Stars.

I'm using my GBA:SP with my GBP right now...so it's a glitch?

Naw....the hori digital pad thing can be used for regular GC games too.  The GBP works with a GC control (wavebird too), the digital pad, a GBA, and a GBA SP.  The GC works with the GC controller and the digital pad (but no GBA or SP).

Yeah, you can use just about anything with the GBP except for like a steering wheel or something.  You may want to read my Game Boy Player FAQ sometime.

Use regular controllers works great.
