Nintendo has bought 128 million shares (2.8%) of Bandai, and is planning to purchase them. Dayum! They just crossed the Wonderswan and Digimon off their enemy list, they now have many franchises at thier disposal, Naruto, Gundam, Digimon, and tons more of that anime crap. This is big news!
EDIT: Actually maybe its just 2.6% of Bandai that they own now.

Well, it dosen't take that long.
But could Nintendo in all honesty afford Bandai? I mean, it's not like they are a small company, they own tons of stuff, their last PS2 game already broke 500,000. Even if they could afford, would Nintendo be willing to pay hundres of millions, maybe even a billion $ or more for them?

And I did some research, and bandai share costs 2850 yen, and 100% of Bandai would cost little less than 1.3billion. So Nintendo could afford them, but they probably will buy just little bit, if any. Reuters writes about this too, and they are pretty reliable.
