timespliters 2 is pretty good. I had a friend who owns an xbox dismiss it despite it beign a multiconsole game. Damn halo obsessed. TS2 is way bettter then halo.

Well Halo's single player is better, but Timesplitters 2 has better multi-player, in my opinion.
In addition to TS2, we'll also be getting XIII very soon.

I generally don't like console FPS's much either, but Timesplitters 2 was very fun. Never played Halo but from what I hear it probably has a better single-player mode. TS2 had an awesome multiplayer though- full bot and weapon customizability, ton of maps, ton of characters with different stats, a level editor, etc. Also if you like 007 games you should try Nightfire, it's worth a rent but probably not a purchase.

TS2's single-player was really weak...I only enjoyed Siberia and Notre Dame(though only because Viola is my favorite character ^_^)
Halo's single-player was great, that is until the Flood was released...It was NOT fun backtracking through the same areas fighting the same stupid Flood monsters...

Metroid Prime is an awesome first person perspective game, but I wouldn't personally call it a shooter. It is fun, though.

I hate the GC controller for FPS. But Timesplitters 2 is still really good.

ts2 is the obvious choice. i guess it shows how many bad shooters are on the cube.....i can tell you ones not to get....DESERT STORM!!! that game was horrible, but fun for a rental. lol

i love how everyone is hyping up geist as being the most original fps ever. it's an obvious rip-off of Messiah. The PC game with a little cheribim who goes from person to person stealing their bodies for his own uses. the ONLY apparent difference is that Messiah is third person, and Geist is First. Otherwise they appear to be identical games.
Someone who has played or heard of Messiah, back me up here. I really enjoyed it, and I look forward to Geist, but it's not very original.

well ill take your word for it, but the game does sound tight.

Davideo, by that logic, Final Fantasy is a total ripoff of Dragon Quest, since Final Fantasy features the same game mechanics and scenario, but from a 3rd person perspective in combat, rather than 1st person.
But anyone who has played both franchises knows that they are very different.

But you wouldn't go as far as to call FF an original idea, would you?

Ummm... no... I guess you have me there. I am just saying that it's not an outright ripoff. Two games can share ideas without ripping eachother off.

I was gonna mention Geist as well. It looks really cool. Is there going to be multi-player? Or is it more like Metroid Prime (read: explore/adventure)?
Quote Halo's single-player was great, that is until the Flood was released...It was NOT fun backtracking through the same areas fighting the same stupid Flood monsters...
Agreed. I really didn't enjoy fighting the flood.

ive played a little bit of messiah, and yeah stealing bodies is done in that, but only by flying into them, in geist you have to scare people first, so it takes the concept and alters/uprades it to something different, + your a ghost not a cherrub ;p they have similar elements, but not the same. geist is somewhat of an original fps, its not a carbon copy of messiah.

I played Messiah, and man, did it suck! It was a horrible game, hope Geist will be better.

Doesn't matter who thought of the idea first; what really matters is who implements it best.
As for Messiah, I always wondered what happend to that game because it just abruptly fell off the radar at one point after being hyped up as one of the most revolutionary. This suggests to me it was a flop because it never resurfaced again after that.

Red Faction 2 , Hitman 2, Nightfire, Timesplitters 2, Conflict desert storm(co-op mode is great), Medal of Honor and a few more i cant remember. I own all these games except Red Faction, which i rented and was good fun. The multiplayer leaves a lot to be desired. Hitman 2 isnt a straight shooter, as there are other ways to kill foes-cool ways. But all these games are worth trying out if youre looking for a good, solid shooter.
Special edition DVDs do suck for one reason in my book. They are released just so you have to own 2 versions. The money is too big for them to combine the 2. This way, they make 2 and sometimes 3 times the revenue. I mean, come on, what is there, 3 different versions of 'The Matrix' dvds? Tarantino re-released all his movies in special 2 disc editions, and of course i bought them, but its still aggravating.

okay... i might have gone a bit overboard w/ calling geist a rip-off. I liked the idea of messiah, and had quite a bit of fun w/ it, and i'm def. hoping Geist is better. I'm still excited by it, for sure! I wasn't trying to be a downer. More so trying to see if anyone remembered Messiah. I guess I was a bit tired when I typed the other one.

For OG shooter, look up Ikaruga. Top down old school shoot 'em up made by the best. There's also PN03, but its getting mediocre reviews. I'm for that one to hit the discount rack myself.
If you can wait 3 years, there's Project Unity from Lionhead Studios. That'll be a fun one.
I don't know mate - I guess I have to admit that the GCN isn't a frag box just right now. No bleedin' LAN games to play on, fer chrissake. Free Radical must have been pissed at Nintendo. I know I am for it.
