Sometimes I think we get all caught up on sales of the systems, 3rd party support, and forget about what really matters. Do you enjoy your Cube? I know I do. It has the games I like to play, no other system can off me what nintendo does. If you really want to look at the stats, notice this, nintendo has been selling about half as many systems in as PS2 every week, which may sound like a bad thing, but its not. Lets say Sony ends up with an installed userbase of 100 million PS2's, nintendo only sold half that many? Gee, only 50 million Cubes in homes around the world. Thats an incredible number. Software sales are good on Cube, of course games like Zelda and Mario are gonna sell well, but take ntoice to games like Soul Calibur 2, and Time Splitters 2. Time Splitters 2 sold really well, and Soul Calibur is selling extremely well. 3rd parties blame nintendo, but is it nintendo fault when its simply too little to late? For the most part, less 3rd party support means less crap released. Not losing sleep over that one. All in all, nintendo is doing ok, and looks to continue to do well trhoughout the next few years. Will all the killer software comeing out, alongside a price drop, I dont see how things could go wrong.

I don't follow system sales at all really. And you shouldn't either. Don't worry about how much Ninty sells and what is up with the PSP, or any of that other **** that is floating around. Just enjoy your games. You never know when there will be another videogame crash(Unfortunately, this seems very likely in the next decade...)

i pay attention to sales and i enjoy my games. i probaly just watch sales cause im caurious. MEH...
anyway no WAY will the gc be able to sell 50 mill . i would say 20-25 mill MAX.
just dont worry and enjoy your games

Sales mean nothing, other than staying in business, lol! Truthfully, the only reason I follow sales numbers is because my job depends on me being well informed. I too am seriously concerened about the idea of another game insutry crash. Now it almost seems inevitable.
Seriously though, I truly enjoy my GameCube, and so do my friends. Several of whom, were once very anti-Nintendo. I think the power of the little Cube is something that has finally won them over. It's really something I'm glad to be a part of. I host "Game-A-Thons" at my home on a weekly basis. Even my friends wives get involved. We play everything from Atari 2600 to the GameCube. Still the best party system of them all has been the GameCube. It's got something for just about everyone.
As for the 3rd parties and their whining. All I can say is that I'm glad certain developers have left the Nintendo stable. The best 3rd party games will always sell on GameCube. As for the garbage like Tomb Raider:AOD, let's allow the competition to soil it's good name by allowing titles like this to disgrace their systems.

well while we are on the subject of sales of BBQs and sales of games. TOS has reall y helped the gamecube and i think that nintendo will try to keep it and the series exclusive because it gave the gcn quite a jump. with games like mario kart gc around the corner , a game that will own smash brothers in sales.( mario kart was the highest selling game on both the snes and the n64). you get the point . things will only get better for the gc.

I have to disagree with those who say sales are not important. I love my 'Cube to death (and it is the only console that I own). Overall, I am very happy that I decided to buy the system that I wanted, even though it's not the popular choice. If it was up to my friends, I would have a PS2.
If the GameCube does not sell at least as well as the the X-Box, developers will get discouraged and drop support of the 'Cube. I want to see Nintendo's sales increase for the GameCube, I hope that games such as True Crime will help to change some people's opinion of the 'Cube and show them that we are not all about "kiddie" games.

I watch sales reports also. I enjoy playing my GameCube, but I keep an on those sales. Why? With no sales, there wont be many new games for the Cube. If the GameCube was a strong second, I would not care either. But the Cube is sadly at the bottom. It needs to sell systems and games to stay alive. I don't worry too much, because if the Cube dies someday, there will always be another system. I just hope Nintendo makes games for it.

Very true, I used to watch sales very closely and pray nintendo does well. Now I dont. Its not because they dont matter but because they are less of a concern to me. I know that nintendo will be hear for a while so Ill enjoy them now.

sales are important, but nothing to have a heart attack about. whahahahahha nintendo was down and out from the begining. ps2 had to much of a head start. the next generation will truely dictate who is in and who is out. and i tihnk its very important what happens. this is history. video games in the future will be what movies are today. everyone sees movies and listens to music. it is entrenched in our culture. video games, and who controls them, is important on many levels because of that. well i guess it depends on what you find important, but i find all this cultural change along with business very interesting personaly

Where Im from the gamecube has currently been outselling all other systems. There are NONE in the stores. There are though gamecube, and ps2. Didnt gamecube also have the highest amount of sales over thanksgiving weekend, they sold 500,000 units I read. Sales DO matter without sales the company will lose money and eventually fade away.

i don't think the game industry is going to crash....
Its becoming more and more popular, and soon we'll be concidered an art medium just like movies. I just hope it doesn't get overwelmed with crap, so the people who make great games, get recgonition for it. As the technology advances games will get more and more attention especially as it borders realism. Imagine something like .hack. I bet something like that will be realised in 25 years or so...

the only way nintendo can reach its goal of 50 million cubes is cutting hte price to 50 dollars....even then it probably wouldnt reach it.

We don't have to worry about Nintendo fading away any time soon. Nintendo is making a profit through out this console war, and we all know that Xbox has lost billions.

but the xbox was made to gain marketshare not to pull a profit.....nintendo is going to be in trouble next console war. Nintendo hasn't realised its all about presentation, they need a cool looking system. When they advertise they shouldn't make there games look homosexual (mario sunshine...clean is better than dirty....who are you?).

Nintendo and Sony both made money on their first consoles, as well as essentially seizing control of the industry. I'd say MS hasn't done too well at all with their first console.

I didn't say it couldn't be done, all I said was it wasn't the purpose. There looking for the long term profit which i know they'll get becuase its microsoft and they have money to throw around.

Having money doesn't insure you'll be getting money- if Microsoft wants to get the XBox and its successors to be popular and profitable, they're going to have to change the industry, and that quite simply isn't possible with their poor sales.

Nintendo's doing pretty well for themselves money-wise. Well enough to keep pumping out quality consoles and drug-induced bat-**** crazy games that we all love, until Crom the god of steel returns from the wherever the hell he went.
