Title: Tequila Recipes?
Post by: Grey Ninja on September 12, 2003, 03:26:56 PM
Like a bloody idiot, I spent $50 of my last $80 on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Anyways, I get paid a couple hundred bucks in about 5 days, and I am sure I won't be starving this time, so it's all good. But it does mean that I can't drink for a few days.... O_o
Anyways, does anyone know what to mix with it to actually make it taste good? I am used to drinking shots, but I am not out to get hammered tonight. A buzz would do me fine. I have some Xenosaga to play.
EDIT: Just realized that didn't make much sense at all. I can't afford to buy more beer, but the guy who moved out before me left a bit of tequila in the bottle, and my roommate doesn't drink.

This involves buying something so you prolly won't go for it...but a jumbo bucket of margarita mix does the trick for me.

mmm.... Pineapple lemon-lime tequila sounds really good to me. Thanks dude.
And you have a green/blue hair fetish too? I remember the first time I was browsing through a porno mag and saw an advertisement for Penthouse Forum or something like that, and they showed this gorgeous Asian chick with fluorescent green hair. I was just knocked flat on my ass I tell ya.

You bet ^_^ There's just something about blue or green as a cute girl's hair color that gives me a tingly feeling. It's kind of scary actually

Either that or not enough.
The orange juice thing sounds awesome too. I just hope my Mom doesn't decide to pay me a surprise visit. I have about 30 empty bottles within an arm's length of me right now. O_o I would have difficulty explaining that.

30 bottles within arms lenght means two things:
1.You drink too much 2. You really need to start recycling. Seriously.

well you could just blame it on society...or better yet the person who moved out...

I vote not enough.
As for a recipe for Tequila, i've found it tastes like BS with everything. The best thing to do is , get some table salt(1$) and lemons(1$) and do lemon drops. Quick and relatively painless. Lick the salt, drink the shot, suck the lemon, and before you know it, drunk-govia!
Bear in mind i dont like the taste of tequila, although the worm feels fine...

is tequilla strong? how much alcohol, percentage wise? cause i can't really drink that much. it's not my thing anyway.
not that i know, i just wanna rock up to my friends, make a drink, and just impress them. "whoa dude! that's a killer drink! how'd you learn how to make that??" "mate, i just know alright, so don't mess with the Termin8er, and drink up. we have a lot of driving to do"

Tequila ranges from 40% to 50% alcohol. But Tequila tastes like garbage, in my humble, alcoholic opinion.
If you want to rock your friends, make Rum and cokes, (or Jack and cokes for me) they'll be tanked in no time. And the carbonation actually enables the alcohol to be absorbed into the blood faster, so look out!
Back to my JACK.....ahhhhh

The Omen: Yeah, I've tried Lemon Drops (but they're just called Tequilla Slammers when I had them) only once. Three steps. Whoa, the complexities! But I've never been a fan of straight spirits, apart from bourbon/rum/that kinda drink.
And Infernal, tequilla is potent stuff straight. That's why people shot it down or mix it. It messes you up fairly quickly any other way.
Drink of the Moment: Bundaberg Rum and Cola. It's the only actual Aussie rum that I've heard of, and its got its own 'unique' taste. Next on the list is Cougar or Johnnie Black. Damn, and the weekend's over too.
Bupbow for the flow of time!!!
EDIT: I'm almost shocked joeyjojo hasn't reared his drunk face yet? Pfft, hangovers. Some people can't handle them at all.

The Omen, I had a very bad experience once with JD, and I can no longer drink it. The thought of drinking the stuff simply makes me sick these days. If I am going to mix something with coke, I mix Rum with it now.
Termin8, if you really want to make a good drink for your friends, take some Vodka, add some Orange Juice, and mix it up. Screwdrivers will get you screwed up really fast, and they taste good doing it. They are one of my favorite drinks.
And yes, Tequila is known to get you shitfaced quicker than a cowpie and an outstretched leg.

I know the feeling, i used to be like that with Southern Comfort. But i've found something-i've heard your taste buds change every 7 years(dont know if its true, where i heard it) and now suddenly SoCo doesnt sicken me anymore...go figure.
Grey Ninja, what did you end up mixing with the Tequila ?

this won't answer your question and i don't know if you guys have bacardi rum down in the states but a personal fave of mine (if i'm drinking hard stuff) is bacardi limon and 7UP tropical splash... that is some good stuff.
and if you want to impress your friends, you should make a funnel and down a few beers through that. only $15 CDN at home depot.

Heh. Funny you should ask me that tonight. I finally did end up making the mix tonight. The other night when I asked, I didn't feel like going to the store to buy ingredients, so I just had a couple of shots. It was tonight that I had my brainstorm.
I had $5 left. I was saving it for lunch tomorrow so I could have as much as I wanted to eat. But it was raining today, so I decided to spend $1 of it. I thought long and hard about how I would spend it, and I decided that the only decent thing I could get with $1 would be a slurpee. I then thought about buying some orange juice instead, and it hit me....
I eventually bought an orange juice slurpee, with a dash of sprite slurpee, and mixed in with it some vanilla ice cream and a generous helping of tequila. Top it off with 2 sleeping pills and I am good to go. It was very cheap to make, and it was quite good.

Both. I am an insomniac, so I would take them anyways, but they do enhance the alcohol I have found.

i intended to post earlier, but was busy all day. Despite my post being old, i'll post it anyway.
i'm more of a vodka and gin man, but i mix a few tequila drinks every now and then. Here's a couple of mine. Measurements might be a bit off since i haven't made one in a while. i mix by eye, so as long as you have an idea how much to add of each ingredient, you're good.
Classic Margarita: 2 ounces of tequila 1 1/3 ounce of Cointreau 2/3 ounce of lime juice
Brave Bull: 1 1/4 ounces of tequila 3/4 ounce of Kahlua
Acapulco: 1 1/2 ounces of tequila 1/2 ounce of Cointreau 1/2 ounce of rum splash of lime juice & sour mix
i know someone else posted it but above is how i make them. If you wanna make frozen versions of those, add more sour mix/margarita mix and mix with crushed ice. i usually just pour them over ice myself; crushing ice is too much trouble for when i just want a drink.
i recommend Cointreau, which is one of the better triple secs available. Once you've tasted it, you won't want to go back to anything with "triple sec" emblazened on the label. It's expensive, but worth it, and will last a while used in moderation. Aside from stocking Cointreau (or if you're cheap, triple sec), i also recommend stocking lime juice (Rose's is usually it), and a sour mix. You can use a margarita mix, but i prefer a sour mix. And the free ones you get with some tequilas taste like arse if you don't doctor them up (Cointreau and lime juice works here). When i'm mixing drinks, Cointreau, lime juice, or sour mix is an ingredient 90% of the time; your mileage may vary. You can use fresh limes as well, but for the sake of convenience i use Rose's, which is also presweetened a bit.

Its a symptom of an overactive imagination. I sleep rarely more than 3 or 4 hours. I don't take sleeping pills for the fact that they make me feel too groggy when i'm awake. But anyway, be careful mixing alcohol and sleep aids, you may not wake up. This warning was brought to you by the surgeon general.

I'm usually up in bed for up to 2 to 3 hours at night, but I get to bed at about 9, so I have plenty of time to get bored and fall asleep.

Melatonin works much better than sleeping pills for me. i wake up feeling energized, even moreso than when i'm not taking it, and i have strange but vivid dreams, usually in black and white.

Grey Ninja, you worry me sometimes. I wasn't going to post regarding your admission to mixing alcohol and sleeping pills because I don't want to forever bug you about this kind of stuff. However, the statement about not caring if you don't wake up bothers me alot. Be careful please. I'll just leave it at that.

lol. You guys worry too much about stuff like that. Dying really isn't such a big deal. It happens to us all one day. Whether it happens tomorrow or 50 years from now, it's all the same to me once I am dead. The only difference is how long I have to put up with this life crap. But no Ms. Pikmin, I don't actively seek out death. I have a very strong sense of duty that keeps me alive. I don't actively attempt to prolong my life, but I don't actively attempt to end my life either.

Not that i can talk, but drinking and taking sleeping pills isn't exactly something people who aren't trying to die do. If you're looking to enhance your experience then, well... i guess i shouldn't promote that.
Geez, how did a thread about tequila turn into a thread about dying? The off-topic forum... i tell ya!
Title: RE: Tequila Recipes?
Post by: Grey Ninja on September 16, 2003, 08:07:23 PM
I know. That's what really bothers me. I see it around me all the time. The people who have something to live for always die young. Those of us who pray for death live to very old ages. Back where I used to live, there was this bush pilot... "Jimmy Anderson". I used to hear stories about him growing up, but it wasn't until the Fort St. John International Airshow that I really realized just how famous he was. It seemed to me that half the acts there paid some sort of tribute to Jimmy Anderson.
But that story aside, the man looks like a living skeleton. He's crashed his plane probably more times than I can count, he smokes, he drinks, and he's OLD. Yet I am right positive that the man will live for many more years.
God has a sense of humor alright.
