Title: Soul Calibur 2 Discussion
Post by: iTZKooPA on September 08, 2003, 07:53:45 AM
well after playing the game for a week+ and getting into the weapon challenege ive decided that im really liking the games (as i expected) but i am still playing fzero of course (and also finishing up some old games) but i can really get addicted to this...what are your guys thoughts?  Link is awesome quick and agile but still gotta love the normal guys.  Anyways anyone know of any good hardcore SC forum or fighting game forum in general? Shoryuken is where i normally go but thought there might be other places.

Yea, this game is sweet.  I am a bit suprised that its not being talked about more.  Link is pretty good, and I have learned his moves fairly well, but my favorite fighter is Kilik.  Link has some really cool moves, but Kilik seems faster to me.  In relality though, you can become good with any of the characters, simply learn their moves, and make sre you block.  The only problem I have had, is some framerate stutters.  Maybe its just my imagination though.  I would give this game a 9.5 out of 10.  Its extremely polished, and the best fighter on Cube for sure.

i havent experienced any framerate stutters but learning the basics isnt what i was talking about
i want to learn the chain combos and such so i can try to dominate my friends, i already know link voldo and kilik pretty well

Neat site.  Too bad I'm only sticking to Talim(and have mastered all her combos).  I have no time to waste with other characters

i highly doubt you have mastered all her combos, have you scene how many moves each person has and that means theres like that many different combos for different situations and such
i need to find an arcade with some good compeition and such around here, not to mention fzero also hehe

Oh, if he's learning just one character I think that's possible.

KDR you got a point but still, its not exactly the easiest thing but he also has to know when to use which combo and such
otherwise he simply just knows all the moves and will get destroyed by a good player

My brother is sticking to Link he has learned virtually all of the throw moves.

ya i know what you mean.....it makes weapon master mode a breeze.

I wish some of his throws weren't so stupid though. Compared to the other charachters throws, I think Link got shafted. Kilik has some of the best throws, check them out sometime.

yea they look alot kooler but i think Links throws can be used very well, i have a combo that if someone doesnt block at the right moment (or has a pretty) slow character i can either get a very fast ring out (depending on the arena) or simply get the like 50% dead, pretty effective ive been looking into other guys also now, still need to finish weapons mode, how many chapters are their anyways?

Am I the only one that played the game for 2 days and got bored with it? I bought the import when it came out early this summer (honestly, only because I'm a Link fan, not a Soul Calibur fan...I didn't care for the first one either) and haven't touched it in months (almost 5, now).

well if you didnt care for the first one i dont think youd care for the second
do you just not like fighting games or just not this type of fighting games?

I play a ton of Capcom's and SNK's fighting games, and I like Virtua Fighter 4 pretty well. I liked Tekken for awhile but got tire dof it after Tekken 3. Street Fighter III 3rd Strike is probably my all-time favorite fighting game.

Sometimes, you can't please them all.

One thing that irks me is how people brag they've mastered this charcter, that character, "pwnage with XXX..." Now I'm not going to call Bill a liar; I can't prove it with mere text. I'll take your word that you handle Talim like if she were your child. You're not like other sites (That shall rename nameless to protect the stupid) who have this psuedo-bravado with no way of backing it up...

Hopefully with the next round of the Console Wars, we'll see online play as STANDARD, or pretty close to it. So when the next punk says "I pwn you with XXX..." I can challenge him and make him cry to mommy (It burns mommy, it burns!!)

I'm probably one of the few Nintendo gamers who would've bought this whether Link was included or not. I love SC on Dreamcast, and I couldn't wait to play it with current technology.

Oh, I'm a XiangHua man myself (does that make sense?). Its a shame they toned down her Chinese daisy dukes from the original...

What I was going to put in my above post is that I truely have mastered a great majority of Talim's moves and have successfully linked them together in a fashion that I can call my own.  The only combo I have trouble with is Monsoon Season, but I think there are better combos than it anyway

I've mastered Raphael. That's pretty much all I've done, though. Stick me with any other character, and you've screwed me over. I'm going to try out Talim and Mitsurugi a bit, and maybe re-master Seung Mina, too (my favorite character in the first Soul Calibur).

Yeah, Bill. Talim's my best too. (I just discovered that she has some magnificent kicks.) Yunsung and Link are tied in second. Link's there mainly because of his cheap ass throw that can easily get a ring out. ^_^ And it's Link. And he has cool weapons.

Want a cheap ass throw? Try Raphael's B+G.
