Title: Shinsen Gumi (PS2)
Post by: Grey Ninja on August 31, 2003, 07:13:07 AM
When I first saw the screenshots for this game, I was still half asleep, and they didn't really click with me. I DID know that I liked what I saw though. Now that I am awake, I realize a little more about it. The Shinsen Gumi were very much a part of the Rurouni Kenshin anime, and had a big part in the OVAs that I love so much.
I must say that if I owned a PS2, I would SO be importing this game when it was released. There are very few PS2 games that I would actually buy, but this one is definately a keeper in my books from what I see of it.
I suppose that there are now about 4 or 5 PS2 games that I KNOW I would own if I had a PS2.

Wow, the game really does look like Rurouni Kenshin: The Game. ^_^ Hopefully it will make it out of Japan, cause my PS2 has been in slumber for way too long...

Hey did anyone notice that the samurais depicted on the screenshots are dressed just like Saito was when he was part of the Shinsen Gumi? They are in blue, and they even have the ribbon on there head. This game is going to be a little different in terms of gameplay because the Shinsen Gumi work in groups, so maybe it's going to have a feature like the Lost Vikings game where you will have to switch character instantly(without using menu and only by the press of a button) so that you can complete missions.

The reason that they are dressed the same way as in RK is because the Shinsen Gumi really did wear those colors. ^_^ I actually hope the game will concentrate on your one character, while cpus help you out.

If Genki can produce competent AI, then i'm all for AI-controlled teammates. But i think it would be easier to switch control amongst characters, as in Sonic Heroes. The potential for AI mistakes is too great. Looks good though, if not similar to Tenchu. Can't wait to see more of Shinkawa's designs.

the game does look interesting right now, but i would want to see the game in motion too- the screen shots look really nice- the graphics look good- hopefully the gameplay can hold up as well
