Title: Gamecube and Game advertising in the darnedest places.
Post by: BlkPaladin on August 29, 2003, 12:50:06 PM
I'm making a kind of offical thread to put instances of game advertising outside of a video game store.
On moment for some reason my connection and computer is acting up, I will have to reboot. It posted before I was done and it dumped most of my post.

Funny.
But what I was talking about is like when McDonalds had Sonic games in it happy meals and only had advertising for Nintendo games on the insert.
And today one of the local McDonald recieved a shipment of medium sized bag advertising the EA games NBA Live and the Playstation and Gamecube logos were very visible on the bag, and the Xbox and PS2 only in writting.

I've noticed that there is a Madden tv spot where the only logo shown is the GC, at the end of the commercial. Impressive. But i know you weren't talking about tv. At my local Barnes and Noble, they have a big GC poster in the magazine area. I dont know why.

Probally someone in the management at that store is a little biased.

My local Target has a large banner in their electronics dept and they only show the GameCube. There are GameCube game posters up at the theater. My local Fred Meyer is one Nintendo-friendly store. Almost all the displays are Nintendo. At the Mariner games they advertise the GBASP (and Konami) on the screens all the time (behind the batter) and they have a GameCube set up in the family lounge.

In a mall in my city, there's a poster thing in the middle of a hallway with advertisements on it. In the most conspicuous place, there's a poster advertising Wario World. It shows Wario's head digitally inserted onto a picture of a real life guy with an open shirt, and a hairy chest with all kinds of bling bling on it. There's a caption that asserts that fact, but I can't remember what it is. It's a really good poster, and even though I don't like the game, I smile every time I see it.

Many of the movie theatres in Canada used to have advertising at the start of the movie. One advertised about the Gamecube having 180 games, which is what it had at the time, another advertising the LoZ: The Wind Waker.

about the only places the gc logo is seen in my city are magazine ads for either third-party cross-console games or gba ads.
