what sence are you making?
what is happening is, nintendo arn't makeing anymore gamecubes for the time being, untill they clear out the ones they have stockpiled, when that happens they will resume production, there is still a plethora of titles slated for the cube, its not being unsupported.

omg people just because of this it doesnt mean they arent supporting the GameCube anymore. They are using it to clear overstocked warehouses when the stock is sold they will start production again.

Nintendo has "TEMPORARILY" SUSPENDED Gamecube HARDWARE production and is expected to resume production later this year in time for the holiday season. It's nothing to panic over.
That Spong article is the most irresponsible peice of "journalism" I've seen since . . . my last visit to IGN

Even though they only call this a "temporary" halt in production, and it in no way means that the last game cube has been made, it still isnt very good news.
What this says is that Nintendo is severly overstocked in hardware, hardware it isnt having very much luck in moving.
Why did they make so many cubes?
They must have thought they were going to sell them, this tells us that sales have indeed failed to meet expectations, and that management has come to the conclusion that they "MAY" not sell the inventory they already have, thus the temporary suspension.
Hopefully the last gamecube hasnt been made as this would indeed be another black eye on an already battered body, but only time will tell.

First I just wanna say Spong is the worst site ever for information. Unless information they have posted is on other sites and these other sites have sources that are not spong, then the info is a lie. Nintendo stopping production is, like several others have already stated, true. They've collected too much overstock, so they've stopped producing. Personally, I think it's a terrible sign. Especially since next spring might bring the unvieling of the N5.

"They must have thought they were going to sell them, this tells us that sales have indeed failed to meet expectations"
Yeah. Iwata himself admitted that.
"and that management has come to the conclusion that they "MAY" not sell the inventory they already have, thus the temporary suspension."
That's ridiculous. Of course it'll sell the remaining inventory. With the GCN supposably dropping to $99 and a slew of big-name titles coming out this Fall including Mario Kart and Metal Gear Solid, Nintendo will not only sell the existing inventory but will be sending out and selling even more by the end of the year.
The GCN isn't selling nearly as poorly as people seem to think. The July US sales just came out and the GCN sold over 126,000 units and was only 10,000 units behind the XBox and the only big games it had in July was Mario Golf which was only available for the last two days of the month. Meanwhile, the XBox still had two titles selling VERY strongly at #2 and #3 on the chart. All things considered, the GCN did ok in July and it will do a lot better next month with Soul Calibur 2 featuring Link and Fzero GC.

It was a good decision on Nintendo's part. There is no point on wasting not only their time and money but that of their business partners also if there is a inventory back log.
If I remember correctly Nintendo has been making consoles faster than Microsoft so its natural they would run into a snag when the slower months came around.
