Following the announcement of the Marina and Pearl Amiibo, Nintendo is continuing to juice Splatoon 2.

A "Starter Edition" of the game will release on March 16, for the same suggested retail price as the current game ($59.99). The new edition will include two pages of stickers and a 100-page strategy guide.

Splatoon 2 is the second Switch game to receive an enhanced release for the same price, with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild being the first. The Starter Edition for Splatoon 2 comes out the same day as Kirby: Star Allies.

Interesting approach Nintendo is taking. Seems like it would be a good extra inducment to buy for those still sitting on the fence. I wonder how successful the BOTW edition was. Extra stuff for the same price can't hurt. Shows you how insanely cheap paper is, which makes me wonder why they can't include decent manuals anymore. :p

Will they drop the digital price?

I'm also curious as to how enticing stickers might be to newcomers.  I myself would really enjoy some stickers as a fan of the series and stickers in general.  But I wonder about someone on the fence.

This seems a better alternative than Games as a Service.

...will Splatoon 3 be GaaS?

The whole series is games as a service, except the season pass is included in the base cost of the game.

Small game cases might have something to do with that.

Though Switch games don't even seem to have electronic manuals either, which was a little surprising to me.
