With two weeks until Festivus, mind you.

With a little under three weeks left in the year, the Switch has already passed a significant milestone in sales.
Nintendo issued a press statement today confirming the console has crossed the 10 million sales milestone (sold through to consumers) according to internal metrics. With nine months of sale, the console is selling at a pace similar to the Wii (which reached 10 million in its ninth month) and the PlayStation 4.
If the current pace holds, the Switch is expected to outsell its predecessor console by the Switch's release anniversary date of March 3.
Impressive, but it'll be interesting to see if Nintendo can keep this pace up considering they pretty much just used up most of their internal studios for probably the next 1-1.5 years. The next year or so really comes down to the 3rd party support, probably with the occasional remaster and MAYBE Prime 4.
I'm finding my Switch to be a pretty decent compliment to my PS4, better than the Xbone has, that's for certain.

They still have Smash Bros and Animal Crossing which will be huge on Switch and can realistically make 2018. They could also have a Mario Maker ready for the Switch in 2018 as well which has the potential to huge since it won't be on a dead system this time and missing key features like the 3DS version was. They've said a new traditional Fire Emblem for the Switch is scheduled for 2018 and that series has been growing since Awakening. Next Level Games probably has something ready since the last major game they made was Luigi's Mansion 2 in 2013, there's been rumors of a Luigi's Mansion 3 for a while now and I doubt Federation Force took up the majority of their resources. Plus Retro's new game should finally be done.
We're also in new territory since most 3DS development is probably finished by now so this will be the first time in 30 years the entire workforce of Nintendo will be focusing on one system. I imagine some of the small teams that have mostly developed for the handheld systems will probably be used to pump out smaller titles to fill some of the gaps between the major ones.

Those early months can really make or break a console. Nintendo hit hard and fast, ensuring Switch had a steady stream of first party games until major third party games came out toward the end of 2017. Nice that it finally figured that out. Next year, consumers have the entire library to select from in addition to new releases. There’s nothing like getting brand new mainline Zelda and Mario games within nearly six months of each other. Then again, Nintendo doesn’t need that. Keep building on the foundation that’s already there including but not limited to, you know, launching Virtual Console for Switch.
