Title: Rogue Squadron Targeting Computer
Post by: y2kerr on August 03, 2003, 01:24:37 PM
So I'm trying to unlock the bonus levels by winning medals. But I don't seem to be using the targeting computer properly, because I always end up with 0% after finishing the level.
Is it simply a matter of having the targeting computer on when I shoot down a TIE for it to count? What am I missing?

TIA,
Mike

Targeting computer efficiency is how accurate you were while using your targeting computer- it is NOT a measure of how much you use your targeting computer. In other words, if your accuracy was 100% while using the targeting computer, you'll get a 100% targeting computer efficieny. That's very hard to do, though, and the best way to get a perfect targeting computer efficiency percentage is to simply not use it.

Actually i think you'll find that it is a measure of how much you use you computer.  Trust me, I had the same problem.  Just use the computer in tiny increments.  Do not just hold the button in or you will get zero.  It doesn't matter how many targets you kill with it either.

No, it's how accurate you were while using it. A friend of mine used the targeting computer for an entire level and only used heat seeking missiles. When he finished the level it told him his targeting computer efficiency was 100% (or at least close to it). Efficient means getting the most out of something, which would mean using the targeting computer to be more accurate- if you're not accurate while using your targeting computer, it's not very efficient.

but how come if you hold down targeting but don't fire anything, the efficiency still goes down?  I think its a product of time as compared to the number of things you kill.  Not directly related to shot accuracy...

Well, not DIRECTLY to shot accuracy, know, but it expects you to shoot at things when using the targeting computer, else you shouldn't be using it at all. If you are very accurate while using the targeting computer, you'll get a very high effeciency percentage.

Although, like I said, the best way to get 100% is to just not use your targeting computer- it doesn't help that much anway.

i wasn't trying to flame you man, just give my insight in saying you could hold down the fire button as long as you still killed a bunch of crap.

I knew you weren't flaming- I guess the caps come off as yelling to other people, but I usually intend it to mean stressing a certain word- somtimes I'll use asteriks instead, or bold or italicize it if I'm not lazy, but I didn't mean to come off as a jerk, though, sorry.
