Title: bonus disc with preorder of rebel strike
Post by: Ghost Rider on August 01, 2003, 03:28:53 PM: just read on IGN that if you preorder Rebel Strike you get a bonus disc with the Hoth level, a level from "Gladiator" and the entire 1982 Star Wars Arcade game. sounds nice

that game was amazing in the arcade! it's my friend's favorite arcade game of alltime,
we got to play it at a (classic arcade games only) arcade like 5 years ago, he was glued to it hehe.

I bet my friend will buy a gamecube based on this alone lol

I think the bonus is great, but why a Rouge Leader demo? The game is over a year old! Maybe its for the new co-op

IGN has since updated with news that it will come one month before the game is released. Once I saw this disc offer, I preordered right away.

Initially I thought you'd get the disc when you got the game, which made me wonder why they'd give you a demo of a game you just picked up- very odd.

Even if LucasArts wasn't around back then, George Lucas would still have owned the rights and since pass them on to LucasArts. Funny thing is, before Star Wars was released Lucas asked 20th Centruy Fox for full control over licensing. Since Fox didn't think Star Wars would be a hit anyway, and that licensing wasn't very big back then, they give him the rights to licensing for free. Fox is stupid.

I never liked that game. Never. Judging from the leaked beta I've been playing, Jedi Academy is clearly the best. Though, that was made by Raven, and not Lucas Arts...

LucasArts is the publisher, they have the rights to all Star Wars games. Raven is the developer, like the Jedi Knight games.

But personally I am not as excited by this bonus disc if you can call it one. It feels more like a demo disk to me. Whether I get it or not is of no consquence.

but if it included one of the sega games or both yeah, i would be on board.

Sure, they could put every single old SW game on the disc, but then it's just a BONUS disc, and not a 'LucasArts Retro Collection' disc.

i mean paying for the atari 1982 game is different, it's more than 10 years older and it's atari, not sega

I mean that's the f*cking reason I even pre-ordered the damn game. With the demo on the Mario Kart bonus disc there really was no point in pre-ordering the game anymore. Sure it's probably going to be a great game but I usually prefer to wait for reviews and I could have bought the game at a later date which is what I original planned on doing.

Well at least the pre-order disc will likely become a collector's item of sort and it is nice for people that didn't pre-order to get to play the arcade game. I just wish I knew about it beforehand since the hassle of finding a store in Canada that acknowledged the pre-order deal wasn't really worth it now.
