The seemingly inevitable has been made official.

Another Kickstarter success story has moved from the Wii U to the Switch.

The team behind Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night officially confirmed a rumor that was speculated several weeks ago when the game's logo appeared on a list of Switch indie titles. According to game lead Koji Igarashi, the Switch "made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch".

Backers who selected the Wii U version will be automatically moved to the Switch version, though a different platform can be selected by re-taking the backer survey. Refund requests for the $28 - $500 tiers of the Kickstarter will be processed through the 20th of April by emailing orders@fangamer.com with the subject line "Bloodstained Wii U Refund" and including the PayPal email that is set up for refunds.

Considering that production has stopped for the Wii U and Nintendo isn't making new games for it, I'm okay with this.

At the earliest game this game might be out for Spring 2018.  By that time even the most diehard Wii U owners who got the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild will have bought the Switch thanks to titles like Mario Odyssey and whatever surprises they'll announce at E3 as well.

Sad but not surprised. Everyone should have seen this announcement coming.

Still keen to see how the game turns out - Bloodstained has looked really good so far, but KickStarter has a way of disappointing.
