Kutar is always Kutar no matter where he is going or doing.

It's the gray days of winter, and besides playing some SNES games or viciously murdering people in a fictionalized Japan, we don't have a lot of New Business. Instead, we decide to go all-in on emails.

In the first half of the show we nickel-and-dime our Zelda experience, name our favorite Nintendo console, and inflate our bodies when feeling like we need to laugh, cry, love, or be angry. After the break, things get significantly less stupid; we talk about a potential 3DS successor, the rumored GameCube Virtual Console, and finally getting to play a 2D Nintendo platformer online. You can be our wonderful Yura-chara by inflating us an email.  

We're two weeks from Guillaume's RetroActive on Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom. James is already laying the groundwork for Gui to take the blame if it goes poorly. Expect it to be James' idea if it goes well. You can help the cause by contributing to the Talkback thread.

I actually bought two of the Kutar games a few months ago when they were released on the Aus eShop. To start with I found a review of the series which briefly explained each game and had a buy or dont buy recommendation. Only two or three of them were recommended to buy. So, the two I got were End Credits and Burger Factory.
The best part about End Credits is the music, the rest isnt so good. You have to dodge mines on the ground, but the problem is, the view is partly obscured by meaningless phrases like "tatatatata-", "Kutar's the leader", "Red Scarf", "Take a tissue in your hand", "Home's best", "Tissues everywhere", "Looking cute", "Heart beating fast", "Meet up at the square", "Restart your computer", I could go on. This game is actually quite difficult. As for the credits, they quickly  scroll up the screen evey time you die.
Burger Factory is a better game. Youre on a burger making assembly line with three other Kutars. You have to put the bun on top of the burger to send it forward, but you have to pay attention because if the Kutar before you forgot to put the meat on, you have to send back to him. The speed slowly increases and meat Kutar makes more mistakes. However, if you (the player) make any mistakes, its an instant game over.


As for favourite consoles, I kind of have two. Only considering hardware, I have to say the New 3DS with the wood faceplates. Everything about the system is just so nice, the screens, buttons, 3D that works and style.
If I consider games too, I have to say Wii U. There are so many amazing games for that thing. The system overall is great too, HD graphics, the Gamepad and an online system that is actually good.

I have a love for the gamecube too. Back when it came out, I was only about 11 or 12, so I could only play whatever games my older brother wanted, which was almost exclusively 1st party stuff. Over the last year or so, my own gamecube collection has grown massively and I have now played through things like Prince of Persia Sands of Time, DK Jungle Beat, Timesplitters 2, Super Monkey Ball, PN03 and a bunch more.

It is hard to separate nostalgia from these discussions, but gamecube is my favorite console. That was a period in my life where I had more time to play games than I do now. WW, Metroid Prime, and RE4 are all excellent games and I completed all three of those 100% which is something I would never do now. We also had paper mario, Metroid prime 2, Melee, Soul caliber 2, double dash, sunshine, and pretty good third party parity with the other consoles.


I would buy gamecube joy cons if they had the big A button (that should have never went away, it's the most used button), better 2nd joystick, left bupper, and analog triggers. I would sadly pay full price for it even if I couldn't use it on every game.

Hearing James read out those Kutar titles made them seem like accidental beat poetry.

Imagine my surprise when part of my letter (the more important part, probably) was the stinger. I appreciated James's off-the-cuff dramatic reading. Hopefully, one day I'll slay the bearerists and write a drama worthy of Ray's shining example. Too bad Jon's reaction seemed slightly cutoff at the end. I can only assume he was making plans to immigrate back to Canada . Note that "Have a Merry Switchmas Day!" was sung to the tune of Mickey's Christmas Carol, for those not familiar with the cartoon.

Kutar. Another watershed moment in RFN history, like Cocoto: Fishing Master. Perhaps a RetroActive of one of the Cocoto games is in order. ;)

I can't decide between the Super NES and the Nintendo 64 as my favorite consoles. The SNES felt like the fulfillment of what NES games were in our imaginations. The rain and lightning in the opening scenes of Zelda: ALTTP. That was next-gen, baby! The N64, while primitive by today's standards, felt like a whole new world was opened up. I remember the many times I would go to first-person view and look at the moon in Ocarina of Time and Banjo-Kazooie. Those blurry textures elicited such joy!
