Three solid Virtual Console releases this week.

North America will see the Animal Crossing update rolled into the main game this week with the switch to Welcome Amiibo happening on the eShop. Since the game's a Nintendo Select, it's still an inexpensive way to get into the series. The biggest title on the eShop this week is Teslapunk - no relation to 2014 eShop hit Teslagrad - an intriguing looking vertical-scrolling shooter.
The big action is in the Virtual Console realm, though. The New 3DS gets Demon's Crest, bringing the entire Firebrand collection onto one system for the first time ever. On the Wii U front you can grab Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and experience Marth's adventures plus those of half of the Tokyo Mirage Sessions cast. It's only a year and a half later than Europe, not that you need to be bitter about it.
It's a relatively quiet week across the pond - the headliner is almost the free DLC for last week's RPGs. But on the Virtual Console front, Europe does pick up Excitebike 64.
