Post by: Shaymin on July 03, 2016, 01:09:21 PM

The physical pack is published by some folks who know a bit about platforming.

Inti Creates will be dropping a sequel to an eShop hit at the end of September, and a boxed copy will come along for the ride.

At the company's AnimeExpo panel, Inti announced that Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 would release in North America on September 30 in both digital and a physical format. The eShop release will be US$14.99, while a combo package of the first two ASG titles will release the same day for US$29.99.

The special edition physical release will be published by Yacht Club Games, building off their experience with Shovel Knight from last year.

Unless I missed something booting the first game back up after all those updates, it looks like they are adding in the cut in-game dialog in the first Gunvolt.

So great to see IntiCreates get a physical release for Gunvolt 1 and 2. While I didn't give Gunvolt 1 enough time to finish it, I'm interested in seeing how Gunvolt 2 shape up.

Azure Striker Gunvolt looks so much cooler than Mighty No. 9 - gameplay might not reach Mega Man quality, but seems pretty good. Getting both Gunvolt games as a combo pack also makes the value solid. I'm interested.

Any chance that Mighty Gunvolt might make it onto the disc as a bonus? Despite having just bashed Mighty No 9 above, it would be awesome to see this small game included. Probably unlikely due to licensing of the extra characters, but maybe the promotional value would be worth it.

Interesting to see a trend where indie games get retail releases - but it's going to force me to think twice before buying digital from now on. Runbow, MineCraft, Shantae, and now this are all examples of games I would/did buy but would rather have on disc.  That's not counting DuckTales or Shovel Knight, or stuff released from Limited Run games - who coincidentally are releasing PS4/Vita discs for Xeodrifter today.  Hmm...

September's looking like a heck of a month for the 3DS. Dragon Quest VII, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, Yo-Kai Watch 2, Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice, Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice (which sounds like it has a chance to not be a complete trainwreck), and now Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. Outside of Ace Attorney, which doesn't have a firm date yet as far as I can tell, all of those are coming out within a two week stretch.
