The FINAL splatfest is here and it is Team Callie vs Team Marie. This is what all the splatfests have been secretly about. Sister versus sister, Squid vs Kid! July 22nd, 2am PDT http://splatoonus.tumblr.com/
After the first few Splatfests, I've completely ignored Splatoon in general. After this announcement, I will continue to ignore the game.

Yikes I've been putting off getting Splatoon, but kinda wanna experience a Splatfest at least once... *Forks over more cash to Nintendo*

I went back to Splatoon today in anticipation of this Splatfest and this game is still so damn fun. Turf War can get old when there isn't something on the line like there is during a Splatfest, but I could play Tower Control and Rainmaker ranked matches for hours.

The Squid Sisters amiibo are great. I got mine on Friday and I'm impressed with how much more detailed Nintendo is making these as time goes on.

The Final Splatfest stages have been announced: Kelp Dome, Moray Towers, and Walleye Warehouse! I would have liked Flounder Heights to be in there somewhere, but Moray Towers might be my favourite map in the game and the other two are solid as well. Nintendo also put out the voting breakdown by region:

North America has terrible taste in stages confirmed. Moray Towers is awful.

I forgot which one I voted for. It might have been Moray Towers. I love the verticality of the stage.
I'm so rusty after not playing for so long and I only won one round out of four, but the game is still so great!

Callie and Marie follow the role of the funny man/wise guy comedy routine which has already been voted on in a Japan splatfest where Tsukkomi(Marie) won the popularity contest with 57% against Boke (Callie).
So I'd put money on Marie winning but personally I'm fighting for Callie.

I don't care which side wins and have no idea which would be more popular or have a better chance of winning, so it was a toss-up for me. I decided on Marie thanks to this thread. The teams seem pretty evenly matched in my experience, I've had some good games.
I voted for Dome so it was nice to see it included. It's one of the best stages for Turf due to its large amount of surface area.

Only planned on playing for a couple of hours tonight, but I got so into it that I ended up fighting for Team Marie right until the Splatfest ended. I don't play a lot of Turf War anymore, but in a Splatfest setting it's still a fair bit of fun. Looking forward to seeing the results tomorrow!

Yeah, it was confusing because of the time listing. It ended at 2AM PDT Sunday, so two hours into the day, meaning practically speaking it just took place on Friday and Saturday. But the dates showed it as 7/22 to 7/24, making it sound like a three-day event. A bit misleading.

I didn't realize that was the final boss music from the single player mode and assumed it was just something they made for the Splatfest. I really ought to play through the single player of this game at some point.

It's pretty good, and the final boss fight is quite spectacular.
