Title: Nintendo Announces new Limited Edition GameCube
Post by: StrikerObi on July 24, 2003, 08:12:36 AM
All you Japanese Baseball fans will be very interested.

Nintendo of Japan has announced that if the Hanshin Tigers, a Japanese baseball team, win the league championship a special commemorative GameCube will be released to honor the occasion. The system will be pin-striped and will sport the 2003 Champions logo. The bundle is being released as an enjoyment plus pack which includes a Game Boy Player. Included with the bundle will be the following:

The bundle will retail for 27,700 Yen (about $230) and will go one sale the day after the Tigers win the championship if they win. Here are some pictures of the bundle (note that the ? circle will be replaced with the as of yet unrevealed 2003 Champions logo).

This could be a big collector's item particularly if the Tigers don't win.  Think about it.  If they're selling them the next day then obviously they would have to manufacture them beforehand regardless of the outcome.  So if the Tigers lose then these limited edition Cubes will never go on sale so if you get a hold of one it would be worth big money particularly since they probably would get rid of the them.
