Title: Episode 481: E3 of the Wild
Post by: NWR_Lindy on June 17, 2016, 04:08:41 AM

We recorded our E3 reactions in front of a live studio audience. How did the Breath of the Wild move us?

E3 2016 has come and gone, but the echo still resonates in our ears. Following the second day of the show, RFN convened a special live recording to break down Nintendo's announcements - specifically The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While Link's newest adventure took up the majority of our time, we also had opportunities to discuss Pokémon Sun and Moon, Ever Oasis, Paper Mario: Color Splash, the stealth release of Rhythm Heaven Megamix, and much more.

Thanks to everyone who was able to join us in the chat!

"James Jones is my daddy."

Good show.

One detail from the Treehouse Live is that the Breath of the Wild E3 demo was specially built to not have any towns or NPCs. So maybe that woodcutter's house will have a person in it in the full game!

Zelda - I think the Sheikah Slate clearly was supposed to represent the GamePad. I don't think it really tells us anything about the NX. But it will be reminder that this was supposed to be a full Wii U 2 screen experience that was unfortunately gimped because to the consoles' failure.

Regarding inventory I think that the days of using the Start button to manage inventory are over. They have to be. We can't go back to that.

Just Dance - I doubt the NX version of Just Dance will use Wiimotes. They'll probably continue to use mobile phone integration.

Also, James Jones is my daddy.

I think it's a smart decision actually to remove gamepad features from the game. Skyward sword might live and die on the Wii cause it's controls. Lots of games will. Same for some wiiu games. This ensures this game is preserved in future systems.

And nothing if value was lost.

We don't like cameras. I don't mind them, but I'm alone on that front.

The screen effect mentioned here from the booth entrance reminds me of something I saw at London's Millennium Dome (Now O2) back in 2000.  We sat on bleachers for a show, and at the end the front screen area lifted away to reveal a whole other forest room.
