Just in time for a prominent anniversary

The next Direct video will be airing Friday and dedicated to a 20th anniversary.

Nintendo has announced a Pokémon Direct will air Friday, February 26 at 7 a.m. Pacific, 10 a.m. Eastern, 3 p.m. GMT and midnight JST on the 27th. It will last for five minutes.

The PR announcement confirms we will "find out the latest about Pokémon games". Previous Pokémon Directs were in 2013, and announced Pokémon XY and Pokémon Bank.

The XY portion of that Pokemon Direct was 4 minutes. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire got a half minute.

They could potentially mention Pokkén and the VC releases before dropping XZ/YZ at the end. (Since it's the same video for all regions, they wouldn't do Detective Pikachu here.)

Dropping Detective Pikachu in the West was my initial thought with this. But seeing as how this is being broadcast simultaneously all around the world, there will be more than that (but probably something about it for the West). Maybe a blow out on Pokémon Go?

Pokemon Snap 2 for Wii U, it's happening!
Also Wii U Lan-cable for Pokken is announced, new Pokemon in Pokken, Amiibo support in Pokken, Pokemon Go, Pokemon Amiibo cards and lastly Pokemon Niji is announced.
And a new feature film!

The new announcement is actually going to be a Nintendo-developed mobile game. Set your expectations accordingly.

I heard Pokémon Go was being blown out at GDC so I expect this to be a reminder that Red/Blue/Green/Yellow are out and that Pokken is coming out, along with the announcement of codename Niji. If we're lucky they might add in some detective Pikachu for the west.

My consistent "next Direct" prediction involved coming around Pokémon Day, so I'm glad to see that came true.

Five Minutes?!?!? What the heck? What can they do with five minutes that's in any way impactful? "Hey watch a game trailer. Buy this game. Peace out" ?
