It is a tad confusing. But one must remember SPONG is basically a tabloid, and as such, very untrustworthy.

Im not familiar with Spong so I dont know how reliable their info. is, but I just picked up A free book released by Nintendo at E.B yesterday. The book has info. on a TON of upcoming games and according to Nintendo, F-ZERO GX and AX WILL still use a GC memory card to swap cars and parts etc. In their own words " When you use a memory card with F-ZERO Arcade, you can transfer new piolets or machine parts that you can use for customization on your Gamecube. You can even race your home-built machine in the arcade!" I think I'll go with Nintendo on this one.

Omen, Thanks for the info on spong. I've recently begun reading thier news. So far I can't complain about thier coverage, they seem to be fairly accurate and usually ahead of the curve. I'll be curious to see how this pans out. I wouldn't be surprised if they were right about the connectivity isssues. I haven't been to an arcade lately, but I don't remember seeing anything like this in the US. As for the jp review of GX I was surprised to say the least. I was hoping GX was the killer app we've all been waiting for. Of course LAN connectivity would have helped! Come on Big N!

I doubt spong is correct- besides the fact that Nintendo's been hyping the connectivity between the arcade and home versions (and that the arcade version's already released in Japan), nobody else has reported it.

Well,
I'm not sure if it even matters, arcades are dying here in the states and I doubt any in my area would even invest (arcade machines range from $2000+) in another driving game.
Fads changed over the years and more people are into DDR2 types of arcade games.

I dont even care about the arcade connectivety. I mean if I pay $50 for the game, why the hell would I pay $.25 to $1.00 to play it in the arcade. The people that play it in the arcade probably wont even have the game. It could turn out to be a good idea, but it just doesnt appeal to me.

I agree with DRJ, the whole arcade thing seems like a bit of a paradox anyway.

The new ad on the f-zero site shows the person plug a memory card in the machine... geez
"Fads changed over the years and more people are into DDR2 types of arcade games" DDR isnt as popular now as a few years ago

Spong is wrong.
That's all you need to know...Besides US arcade cabinets with working memory card slots have been completed already...

the connectivity between gx and ax is supposedly only going to be available in japan. arcades just aren't popular enough in the states to make it worthwhile. i, for one, know i would never use the feature. how many of you would? (well, maybe i would try it once, just to see what all the fuss is about, but not on a regular basis.)

IGNCube has an article up detailing exactly how GX and AX connect with eachother- Spong was wrong. It's an insider only article, but it basically says you can race custom made vehicle from GX in AX and you can download AX exclusive racers to your memory card to play in GX.

I'm going to find the AX just so I can play on that phat outer space level with the meteor shower....And of course so I can freeload as many racers, vehicles, and parts as I can with however many quarters I happen to have and my hopeful 1337ness, too bad GX is freaking hard and AX probably is too. What's up with the hard games? Last year Nintendo released Star Fox, Metroid, and ED, which were pieces of cake on normal difficulty, and only Metroid had a hard mode. Only SMS provided somewhat of a challenge...This year, yes we got Zelda, which is so ridiculously easy that it shamed me to place it next to my Master Quest disc, and heck, Ocarina of Time was easy in the first place. But otherwise this year we got Ikaruga, and we're getting Viewtiful Joe and F-Zero! Finally, something to actually try on...
