The nominees for The Game Awards have been announced and Nintendo games have picked up several nominations.

Nintendo has been nominated for Studio of the Year, along with From Software (Bloodborne), Kojima Productions (Metal Gear Solid 5), Bethesda Game Studios (Fallout 4) and CD Projekt Red (The Witcher 3). Several games for Nintendo systems have also copped nomination, including a clean sweep of the Best Family Game nominations.

Awards with Nintendo nominees and the opposition are:

The Game Awards will air on Twitch and Youtube on December 3.

There are so many things wrong with the full nomination list, I don't know where to begin. How is Yoshi's Woolly World not nominated for anything, especially Best Art Direction? Twitch Plays Dark Souls for "Best Fan Creation"? They had to hack that game and cheat (by making the game turn-based rather than an action RPG) just to get past the first boss. Ugh...the awards are even worse than usual this year.

The only two I can see winning their respective categories are Splatoon/Super Mario Maker for best family game and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for best handheld.

Ah, it's that time of year again for the Keighleys!

Game of the Year is a duel between Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3 if past years are any indication.

While the Monster Hunter series has made great strides with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, I can honestly see Fallout Shelter grabbing the prize due to the fervor for the series.

Splatoon isn't going to have a chance against Destiny: The Taken King or Star Wars: Battlefront.

Splatoon can't match the hype and love for Rocket League.

Best Family Game is almost the Nintendo awards corner ala Best Animated Picture. I don't see the other toys-to-life game taking the award away from Super Mario Maker, but anything is possible.

Seems largely predictable.

Nintendo is really the only one that deserves studio of the year outside of CD Projekt Red and maybe (a big maybe) Bethesda. From Software for Bloodborne? No. Kojima Productions for MGSV? The only reason Kojima Productions is there is because of the hate for Konami for "abusing" Kojima. Bethesda, while I am glad to Fallout 4 works almost perfectly on release, I still hate as a company.

Nintendo will own the mobile nomination and the family one is already won. GotY is going to Fallout 4. Shooter is Battlefront or CoD. Multiplayer is CoD or Destiny though Splatoon has a slim chance.

I love how Battlefront doesn't even release until this coming Tuesday and its up for shooter of the year.

Studio of the year is such a blanket nonsense term. The nominations apart from Nintendo have all only released a single big game this year essentially boiling it down to Game Of The Year 2 with exactly the same nominations. I don't see the logic behind grouping together all of Nintendo's studios and pitting them against another single studio.

Technically, it's out now for EA Access members on the Xbone. But games released as of a week from Tuesday (the 24th) are eligible.
