It was a dark and stormy (k)night....
Welcome to the city of Gotham! Home of millionaire Bruce Wayne and his youthful ward, Dick Grayson! But what's this? Trouble is brewing at the Arkham Asylum. Batman's greatest foes have broken free and taken over! Looks like Batman's bad habits have finally come to haunt him......
Alerted by the Bat-Signal, Batman and Robin spring into action. Great Scott! What's this? Batman and Robin have been captured in a clever trap by these fiendish finks! With our daring do-gooders detained by these diabolical delinquents, it looks like the only ones able to save Gotham are the true blue men and women of the Gotham City Police Department. But can they survive the 12 floors of Arkham Asylum in order to reach the top and save the dynamic duo? Find out.... in SAFE WORDS 3!

Hello, hello. Thank you and welcome. For the third edition, I thought I'd try something new. I'm going with a Batman theme but this time, there is almost a silver of a story to go with the game. In the latest players vote, the idea of adding new words each round was rejected 2-1. Just as popular was the ability for the winner to ban another person on these forums. Apparently, a lot of you people don't like each other here......
But let's meet this game's contestants! (Or should I say GCPD members going by the story.)
In order to determine the selection order for this game, I decided to rank the players based on the Scrabble score of their usernames from lowest to highest. In the case of a tie score, it was then broken by the username's first letter. In Scrabble, to begin, players choose a letter and the closest to A starts so likewise the first letter of the username closest to A was slotted ahead to break the tie. Fun! Here's how the selection order turned out.
This means Triforce Hermit will be selecting the first bomb word! Man. He wins last game and now gets the advantage in starting this one. Why does he get all the breaks? The list of words you will be choosing from this game are:

Posting so I am reminded when it is my turn via the "new replies to your posts" page. Life is crazy but I will still try to be prompt. I moved and will be w/o internet or cell service until next week so I'll be checking from school and work.

I've always thought about blowing someone up if they choose the same word as someone else but keeping track of what words are left to choose isn't that hard to do so I have listened to the requests of the good detective Kitch and will let players know what is left to still choose from. You'll notice that despite Insanolord complaining about how I hadn't done this, he didn't step up and post a list of remaining words because he doesn't want to actually work to help the community. Just complain about everyone. Now if Maxi was still here, he'd be posting a list of remaining words for players even if he was killed off. Maxi understood community spirit. (And how to spam posts to inflate his post count.)

I must say, I'm not too happy about Triforce selecting the Riddler as the first bomb word. I like that guy. He's even got a great theme song:

The floors aren't getting blown up. There's just a booby trap on every floor for the villain that is hiding on it. The "story" is so thin for this, you could make up any explanation you wanted to satisfy your curiosity. I don't know why one would even bother trying to find faults in the story since it is so undercooked. You'd have to be an obsessive mad man to care that much about it.

Well, fortunately, there's a solution. And that is to kill of Insanolord! But I'll give him another 18 hours or so to make a pick because I'm such a nice guy. The wait for Stratos and now Insanolord has been terrible. Hang your heads in shame.

I've never had to eliminate a player yet but it has usually been a wait time of two days that we've had to wait the most for a player to show up and make a choice. Thus, I suppose I should start enforcing that as the max time limit which is why I mention it being about 18 hours or so. I've also now sent him a pm which I'll do if a player has taken a day to choose.

The great thing about this is that I've always liked the Clock King even if he is a bit of a lesser rogue and on the more silly side. I included him because he is a personal favorite. The fact that he helped eliminate Insanolord just makes him even better now in my eyes.

People have been living longer in this game. This usually doesn't happen. I don't trust these results.

Nickmitch is safe. The rest of the Justice League and other superheroes are fighting the Crime Syndicate which allowed Arkham inmates to escape. Problem solved. Again, this "story" is so basic that you should be able to fill in and make up a satisfactory reason as to any question you may pose regarding it. If you can't, then you have no imagination, are soulless and probably a really annoying fanboy/girl.

Fortunately, since Pokepal148 did not sign up for this game, anything he says or does is fan fiction and not part of the Safe Words 3 canon.
I was aware of The Penguin being a member of Blackgate and not Arkham and almost considered leaving him off the choices for this game because of it but decided to include him because he is such an iconic part of the Batman rogues gallery and he's worked many times with the Arkham inmates so I consider him as being invited to join in on this scheme.

And we have our final four! The endgame is fast upon us. Here they are based on the order of choosing in the next round.
lolmonade - It's his second time playing and first time in the final four. In his previous game, Safe Words 2, he only made it to the 11th spot. He's this game's most improved player. He's got first choice in this upcoming round. Will this position give him the inside track he needs to get to the finals and win or will this game's Cinderella run come to end short of victory?
UncleBob - Another Safe Words game and another Final Four spot for UncleBob. He's been the most consistent Safe Words player lasting long into each game and with this current run is now the number 1 ranked player. However, he has yet to win a Safe Words game. Is third time the charm or will it be another late game collapse?
Nickmitch - Like lolmonade, this is his second time playing and first time in the Final Four. Last game, he placed ninth so this is also a personal best finish where ever he may end up. He made the claim in Safe Words 2 that it is not a forum game until he wins it. Will he be able to do so and give this game the hardcore legitimacy Khushrenada so greatly craves for it to have or will it continue to be viewed as a casual wagglefest?
Stratos - Like UncleBob, he has played all three games of Safe Words so far but this is his first Final Four ranking having come in 11th and 8th respectively in the first two games. Every player in the final four has been able to choose a bomb word once on the way here but Stratos has the advantage of choosing the bomb word for this round. Will he be able to use this ability to pick off his competition or will it backfire?

No bomb word chosen has gone the distance to a 50/50 choice yet which has occurred at least once in the previous 2 games played.
Every villain still in play has been chosen at least once by a player in the final four.
I don't know what else I can use to hype up the finale. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

The two detectives stealthily walked down the main corroder of the top floor with their guns drawn. They came upon a fork in the hallway. Peering down the 2 paths, they could make out the voice of The Ventriloquist come from one side and the Mad Hatter coming down the other. "I'll take The Ventriloquist," said lolmonade. "And I'll go with the Mad Hatter," replied Sargent UncleBob. The two spilt up.
Getting to the end of the hallway, UncleBob could see the Mad Hatter sitting in a chair talking to his two crew members, TwiddleDee and TwiddleDum.
"Freeze!" shouted UncleBob.
The Mad Hatter jumped from the shock and, spinning to face UncleBob, unleashed his hypno-ray.
Jumping to avoid it, UncleBob fell to the ground and the impact caused him to pull the trigger of his gun. The bullet ricocheted right into a bomb the Mad Hatter had been working on.
Scarface was arguing with Arnold about how they should kill the Batman.
"Freeze!" shouted lolmonade.
"What the..?" exclaimed Scarface as the Ventriloquist turned around to face lolmonade. However, the explosion from the Mad Hatter and UncleBob fiasco caused lolmonade to pull the trigger and shoot Scarface. Panicked by the bomb and his own gunshot fire, lolmonade kept shooting and riddled the Scarface dummy full of bullets.
After calming down, lolmonade arrested the weeping Arnold Wesker and then freed Batman and Robin.
"Good work, detective," exclaimed Batman, "But I'm afraid we're not out of the clear yet. The Ventriloquist has created a massive bomb that could blow up the entire city of Gotham!"
"Holy Hiroshima, Batman!" yelled Robin.
"Quite right, Boy Wonder," replied Batman, "Get the rest of the staff to safety, detective. Robin and I will go and defuse the bomb."
lolmonade agreed and got the rest of the hostages to safety, thankful that he had survived. As for Batman, after a bit of an ordeal, he was finally able to defuse the bomb.
And thus Gotham City was safe once more! Give or take a few police officers.......

I thought I've explained myself well enough in the past that this is a game I think we could play every month. As such, since a game usually takes about two weeks to complete, I've allowed a week of rest after it ends and then a week of sign-ups which brings us to about the start of a new month for the next game. But you insatiable gamers want more, more, more. And now, other people even want to take away my hosting job for themselves. When will the madness end?

That reminds me. If you host a game of Safe Words, you get an automatic 100 points. It's like you won the game also because of all the hard work you have to do. Also, if you create the game of Safe Words, you get an extra 1000 points. Thus, I have 1300 points in the Safe Words Player Rankings and am the number 1 ranked player.
Not anymore. As mentioned above, your 267 points isn't even close to my 1300. I'm just too good for y'all.
